A good deal for a Wii U game that's over £5 when the Steam version is £2? No lol
You are assuming every Wii U owner has a gaming PC :| Also everyone knows games are cheaper on Steam over console. It is no big secret!
You don't need a gaming PC to play Shadow Puppeteer. It'll run on some calculators.

Thanks for the handy list!
Does anyone know if the Game Gear games are ridiculously zoomed in like they were on Sonic Gems Collection?
They've actually got a ton of options - you can have it zoomed but you can also have a 1:1 pixel option with a border like on the game boy vc games :)
What other screen options are there? Glad theres a ton, Nintendo usually skimps out on this.
You can change the frame colour, add the horrible motion blur the original games had, and change the performance from original to "special", which I assume ups the fps if it originally dropped on the gg. There's also button mapping and local wireless multiplayer on some games. I don't think Nintendo had anything to do with it, that's why they're good! Similar to the 3D classics ones they did.

That's cool, I think the motion blur was a drawback of the GG's screen though.

Really want to pick up those classic collections, if only for a slightly 3d puyo puyo!

Them Wii U game prices are too high, Nintendo are so greedy :D

2 copies in Peterborough and 2 in Farnborough if anybody is interested.
Great price for this, one of my favourite games ever. Hopefully we'll see a DLC-inclusive re-release for the Switch at some time in the future, full portability please!

They also have Star Fox Zero down to £5. None in stock anywhere near me though :(
GAME in Oldham had some copies going for £10. Nothing else was on sale for the WiiU or 3ds that I feel is worth mentioning though. (this was last week I saw these so they may be sold out of those starfox deals)
My local GAME still wants 30 for star fox:(
If it's new, star fox is £10 at game. Ignore the box price.
My local had this and paper mario today, despite not having them a few weeks ago. So always worth checking regularly. I also picked up monster hunter generations 3ds for £4.99 today.
£4.99 in game? I paid 99p in game so wonder why your store was dearer?
Must have raised the prices, since it's also £4.99 on the online stock checker so it's the same price nationally. Or you picked up a different monster hunter game such as monster hunter 3. That is 99p still

It's the same game as yours, yes I guess the cheaper prices were for a short period of time.

Hate 'Nintendo Selects' though if collecting. Always look back on my old Nintendo games and regret not paying a little extra for a nicer, original version. They look poo and are worth less. Fine if you just want to play the game though, or intend to sell when done.

Illusionary
Emulation is quite a processor-intensive task - it needs the extra power that the New 3DS provides for SNES emulation.

I reckon that's horse sh*t, I used an R4 card in my original DS, and it coped with all SNES games I threw at it. I love Nintendo to bits, heck I have a Famicom Disk System, but their lack of crossplay type stuff is really burning for me. I get some people are ok with it, but ironically for me if it was one price, and I could play on my New 3DS, Wii U, or future Switch, I'd be way more inclined to purchase stuff, especially when I see it on sale

Okay, point taken but I woulda thought the 3ds coulda handled snes.

It can but Nintendo need to find a reason for people to buy NEW 3DS's and so this is the only way they'll let you play these SNES games.
Nintendo never do good deals or low prices. Even old games cost a fortune compared to PS4 and Xbox titles.

It's the main reason my WiiU gathers dust next to my PS4. I refuse to pay top prices for old titles.

Exact same, hermes lost mine last Wednesday. I got in touch with Game on Friday and the following day they gave me a hermes number which basically said that unfortunately and due to unforeseen circumstances the parcel has just vanished.I got in touch on sunday and they said they would talk to hermes. An hour later they send me a form I need to print out, sign and scan back in for a refund.Worth getting in touch now because it takes 24 hours for them to reply to each message. Unbelievable how bad hermes are.

Still waiting for mine! Got in touch with them middle of last week and supposed to be sending a replacement, still no tracking info for it.

hi, should i get this or a ps2? i think the graphics and games are slightly better on the ps2 such as vice city etc, but apparently mario kart is very fun
Are you being serious? Totally different generation and type of console, I have one and am loving it at the moment
Which one do you have? What do you mean a different generation? (Sorry I'm new to all this) isn't the Wii u the console that came out with the PlayStation 2? I had a quick look at both and graphics looked similar
No, the Wii U is HD, your thinking of the Wii, the Wii U is a HD Console with graphics on a par with 360 and PS3, games are still being released now although slowly, Zelda Breath of the Wild is the same game that has just come out on the Nintendo Switxh

Grainger Gamers + New?

I worked for Grainger Games many moons ago when I was a student.
The games are new when they come in. But Grainger stores don't use display boxes like Game etc. So one or two are unsealed, contents put in a plastic wallet and the box stickered up and put on the shelf.
Theoretically it is new, but still it's a shame they don't use display boxes.

My copy arrived and sadly it's not a uk copy but at least it's not a Australian version, I don't know which country my version is normally for, maybe Ireland?
Mine arrived today and was an Australian copy. But it works, so I'm happy.
Just double checked and yes mine is Australian too, sorry about that.
No worries dude. The £14.95 may have been to avoid customs, as the limit is £15. I thought that the £15 customs limit was imports from America only, but maybe it is non-EU imports as well.

Mine arrived, and it was the Australian version. How strange?
Hmm you've got me wondering now, exactly how can you tell its Australian ? I had a game from 365 games that was unsealed and the case had gaps rather than all plastic (a bit like the 3ds cases) so I gathered maybe all Australian games are unsealed? Mine is sealed and haven't opened it just yet in case I may think of returning it.

Ahh just had a proper look at all the writing on the back and it is indeed Australian, how annoying! It kinds of ruins my collection, I'll have to have a good think (seeing as I may not get it as cheap as that, brand new anyway at least), the last 2 wii u games I bought from them have been uk copies, may I ask though did you check the price on the front of the envelope which is for customs information? Cos mine said £14.85 (not that I think I'll get it for that price!, I'll check my bank statement soon).

Bear in mind they will likely be stock that is getting returned from stores - this means it won't be sealed most of the time so basically no better than buying 2nd hand (my two copies of monster hunter generations new for £9.99 both turned up unsealed in shop soiled cases).
Absolutely disgusting they do this
Fishy indeed! Seems odd a shop would be opening sealed copies..its not like they keep the discs in a drawer for new games and put the actual cases out on the shelves. Hmmmm
I never said it was fishy I know exactly why they do it - but it is still a disgusting practice - its not NEW once its been unsealed and the case sat on a store shelf for months - and its only GAME that do it - tesco/asda/hmv/sainsburys all have promo cases on shelf and keep the actual stock sealed - why does GAME get away with it? Bad practice and yet another reason to shop elsewhere
I was saying it was fishy...not you :) and yes I fully agree.

Haha ok :) Can't complain too much I guess considering I just managed to get Smash Wii U for 99p.....! Don't mind it being unsealed at that price!

Bear in mind they will likely be stock that is getting returned from stores - this means it won't be sealed most of the time so basically no better than buying 2nd hand (my two copies of monster hunter generations new for £9.99 both turned up unsealed in shop soiled cases).

If any of you buy this, I have a line in the game - "Rust in pieces" that the Scrapper enemies say when you, well, scrap them. :D
Nice one jsty! How on earth did you get to do that? - Did you work for the devs? :)
No, I got lucky when they went through a series of competitions to create a group of 'ambassadors'. The first challenge was to give weapon names to use in the game. They liked my submission enough to use it in the game: )

https://jsty.wordpress.com/2015/05/01/im-one-of-the-first-steamworld-ambassadors/

Edit: The really really cool trivia is that Brjann is a big big chess player. So I've been having regular chess sessions with him for the past few months. He's better so I'm learning. Our games have been frequently sharp and double edged but he plays more accurately than I do.

£40 for a used game is a farce, don't care what anyone says I'm right you're worng if you disagree, £40 to pre-order any game before it's even released is expensive never mind when it's a few months old, used and on a dead console! Pointless post OP... (_;)

fwiw i also think that the whole Mynintendo thing is garbage. The 'rewards' are way out of whack with how much you have to spend to receive them and the lack of physical items a'la club nintendo is miserable.

Yeah, the old reward system was brilliant. I managed to save points for some pretty good real stuff including a 3DS charging dock, game cases and a binder before they scrapped it.

Normal prices at my local shop...
Rx4000
Popped into Game earlier. One copy out of 3 or 4 of Star Fox 0 had the 4.99 sticker, Paper Mario CS had a 29.99 sticker. I picked up a 3 for 2 preowned selection and the Star Fox - guy at the till offered me Paper Mario for 9.99. So clearly each store is handing it a bit differently. The guy was honest and said Captain Toad was 99p but he had bought it himself - tbh I don't really care, I found the levels in 3D world unintuitive anyway. Way I look at it is he didn't have to offer me Paper Mario and I probably got told because I go in semi-regularly and always have a good chat with them. Hunting for deals isn't all about the Apprentice candidate-esque ruthlessness

If you get chance captain toad is a great puzzle game, I wasn't a fan of the minigame in 3D world but treasure tracker was very good.
why is this cold? freezing?

I think this game will get a lot cheaper before it becomes more expensive.
You may be right, the price seems to have been coming down quite a lot recently. It's still worth it at 22.25 though in my opinion! There's a hell of a lot of gameplay here if you're into this sort of game.
I somehow got a NEW Limited Edition copy of Xenoblade Chronicles X for 99p yesterday from my local GAME oO Voted hot anyway as that aside this is the cheapest I've seen it readily available :)

Good price, but I still think the black premium models for £10 more are better value. Worth it for the extra storage alone, not to mention the extra accessories too...
should be still in stock as just ordered
it was definitely in stock when this went up. But I thought there would only be a few at this price.
OOS for delivery :(
Curiously showing 1 in stock for every store in person though. Too much of a coincidence to be true IMHO.

They do have the white in stock for delivery for £99.99 (not sure what the difference is to the £89.99 version; apart from being £10 extra!), or the black for £109.99 or £119.99.

That is disappointing those whose orders have been cancelled just a heads up if any one lives in the southwest the bath store had two copies left on the shelf brand new £4.99
Hope that helps :)
Also cancelled...
Yeah, me too. Usual story with them when it comes to heavily discounted items like this, almost reeks of a payday loan scam. Don't know why I continue to try and buy from them, more than half my orders turn into me giving them a loan of cash for a week or so while they process my refund. Pointed out to them they have plenty of second hand stock in my local store, so I'll take one of them, but "unfortunately" those are priced at £24.99. Bunch of crooks.
I just got a cancellation email from Game :(
reutunes
I went and got two copies. One for me and one for a lucky HUKD member if anyone wants one and is happy to pay for postage and packing. PM me.

Do you still have one, missed out

Wii U: A New Generation Console

Building on the popularity of the Nintendo Wii, the Wii U was unveiled by the Japanese gaming giant in 2012 and was the very first gaming system to offer 1080p HD visuals. Development of the console started in 2008, when Nintendo decided to launch a system with appeal for hardcore gamers. This represented a move away from the standard Wii, which was popular with families and inexperienced players. The Wii U was the result: a console based around an advanced touchscreen unit and extremely high-definition visuals. Its graphics power is complemented by 2GB of DDR3 RAM, delivering a gaming experience that competes with that produced by Microsoft's Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

A Wii U Console

The Wii U's Technical SpecificationsWii U GamePad

  • The Wii U is 1.8 inches high, 6.75 inches long, 10.6 inches deep and weighs 3.3 pounds.
  • The CPU is equipped with a 1.24GHz IBM power-based multi-core microprocessor, while the graphics are generated by a 550MHz AMD Radeon HD GPU unit. The GPU supports 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i resolution video.
  • Premium packs come with 32GB of internal flash storage capacity, and the basic Wii U pack includes 8GB. Users can also attach external USB devices to provide extra capacity.
  • Features 2GB of DDR3 memory.
  • Uses optical discs. It is also able to directly access the internet using a wireless connection. Four 2.0 USB connectors also provide the Wii U with a wireless LAN capability to link different devices together.
  • Wireless connectivity is supplied by a Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n Bluetooth 4.0 card.
  • Includes a 1.3 megapixel camera on the touchpad.
  • Designed to work with two Wii U gamepads, four Wii remote controllers and a variety of different controller accessories.

Wii U Gaming System: Basic, Premium or Bundle

The Wii U is a gaming system which takes the form of a console unit and GamePad. It has a sleek, streamlined design which has been engineered to be as small and unobtrusive as possible. It will fit seamlessly into a living room setup, and can easily be stashed away on shelves beneath a TV, or placed on its own stand (if you buy the premium package). With its advanced GamePad, the Wii U can be used with a normal TV, or on its own when the TV is in use, making home entertainment more flexible than ever.

Super Mario Nunchuk

The Wii U comes in a range of different packages:

  1. The Basic (white) package includes just the console and the GamePad, as well as the touchpad stylus, AC adapter and 8GB of flash memory.
  2. The Premium (black) package comes with the basic console along with the GamePad and extras like the GamePad cradle, touchpad stylus, HDMI cable and AC adapter. It comes with 32GB of flash capacity.

Nintendo also offers packages that are themed around well-known games, such as Super Mario Maker, Mario Kart, Zelda and Splatoon, which may be a better option if you have a particular title in mind.

Wii U Controller

The GamePad controls themselves are standard – with the familiar A, B, X and Y buttons, shoulder buttons, start, select and a couple of analogue direction controllers. It can be powered via the charger for genuinely remote play, or kept connected to the power supply.

  • Touchpad: Where the Wii U departs from traditional consoles is the touchpad. This element provides a new dimension for some forms of game. For example, football games can include real-time tactical changes while you play. You can scroll through weapons or spells in RPGs, or select missiles and alter your aircraft in flight sims.
  • Touchscreen: When you are playing on your Wii U, most of the actual gaming takes place on a separate television screen although for some games the touchscreen allows Wii U owners to play their games remotely when the TV is in use. The controller can also be used as an advanced remote for the television itself.

    Super Mario charakter

  • Motion Detection: The controller also includes advanced motion sensing capabilities. As with older Wii models, the Wii U can detect how players move, translating this into on-screen gameplay. The difference is that the Wii U has made their motion sensors far more accurate, making games more enjoyable and less frustrating.
  • Wii Remote: Almost all games available for the Wii U are designed to work with the primary controller. However, other peripherals are available, such as the Wii Remote in conjunction with the Nunchuk. This slender controller is often used with multi-player RPGs like Nintendo Land, and is handy for playing older Wii games as well.

Wii U Accessories: Increasing the Fun

Since its launch in 2012, the Wii U has received some game-changing accessories that can enhance many aspects of the console. For example, seeing that the standard controller was a little clunky for action titles, Nintendo introduced a GameCube-style pad to make things simpler. A four-way adapter was also introduced to link these GameCube controllers together, enhancing the Wii U's multiplayer abilities.

The balance board has become a fixture in living rooms across the country, allowing people to exercise from the comfort of their own home and to create more immersive in-game experiences. The Wii Wheel allows racing fans to enjoy a more authentic experience, while the Wii Zapper adds excitement to shooters.

Nintendo has also introduced cosmetic elements so that Wii U owners can personalise their systems. These include Wii Remotes branded with Super Mario characters as well as decorative skins for the standard controller, and hard covers to keep the GamePad safe.

Other accessories include special controllers for individual games like Super Smash Brothers, along with traditional-style . All of these can be purchased with graphics featuring popular Nintendo characters, like Mario and Luigi, Link and Yoshi.

Seven Things You Must Know About the Wii U

What is The Wii U Games Selection Like?

The Wii U has accumulated a wide variety of different games, from racers like Mario Kart to RPGs such as Nintendo World, and you can find them all at HotUKDeals merchants like Game.com, Smyths, Amazon or Asda.

In general, the Wii U's games selection includes titles targeted at younger gamers, or multiplayer games designed for families or groups of friends. This contrasts with the range of games on the Playstation 4 or Xbox One, which are usually more action-oriented and have a higher rate of adult content. However, it's worth remembering there are some adult titles for the Wii U, such as Deus Ex.

Some of the well-known titles are:

  • One of the most popular Wii U titles has been Super Mario 3D World, where players can take control of all of the franchise's major characters in HD 3D graphics.
  • If you like fighting games, the Wii U has received a great update of the Super Smash Brothers series, with its unique style of humour and hectic multiplayer action.

Reasons to Purchase a Wii U Console

  • The Wii U is a cheaper gaming option than the Xbox One or PlayStation 4. Players do not need to pay extra to subscribe to social networking services, which is the case with PlayStation and Microsoft products.
  • The games are very family-friendly.
  • This social networking capability is another strength of the Wii U. Since the Wii U's launch, Nintendo have included features like the Miiverse social network, which makes the Wii U far better than previous Wii consoles at linking players together.
  • The Miiverse resembles Facebook, with every player having their own page where they can post public messages or contact people on their friends list. It's a good way to find out hints and tips about your favourite games. With the Miiverse, players can also create an online identity that friends can easily locate, allowing them to take part in multi-player games with people they know. Unlike Facebook, the Miiverse comes with easy-to-use parental controls, so you can limit the services that your children have access to.
  • Another advantage of the Wii U is that Nintendo have designed it to have backwards compatibility with older Wii models. The Wii Transfer app allows anyone to connect their Wii U to previous models, and you can find the app on the Nintendo Online Store. Using the app, you can transfer entire Wii games and profiles, but be aware that a 512MB SD card is needed to complete the process.
  • The Wii U offers access to online streaming services such as YouTube or Netflix using their Wii GamePad.

The Disadvantages of Choosing the Wii U

  • One major drawback of the Wii U is that the GamePad has a relatively short battery life. A typical charge will last for between 3 and 5 hours, and it can be frustrating to run out of charge in the middle of gameplay.
  • Another disadvantage is that the Wii U doesn't include a Blu-ray or DVD disc drive, so for anyone who loves to blend gaming and movie watching, it might not be the console to buy.
  • Lovers of intense action games might find the Wii U to be less exciting than the Xbox One, which comes with the Kinect controller. The Wii U GamePad works better with more cerebral, slower-paced games than first person shooters. This is partly a function of the relatively slow CPU used by the Wii U, which makes it hard to deliver the processing power needed for hectic shooters.
  • Players can also only use one GamePad controller with each console, which tends to limit the multiplayer potential of the Wii U. To an extent, the use of Wii Remotes works around this limitation, but for true multiplayer experiences, the PlayStation or Xbox might be better.

So Which Console Should I Buy?

The Wii U, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One all have their strengths and weaknesses, but when it comes down to it, the deciding factor is what users want to do with their console.

  • The Wii U might not be the first choice for those who love playing first person shooters. Instead, the greater processing power of the Xbox One, along with its more varied selection of titles makes it the system to go for – and the PlayStation 4 is a good option either.Popular games for Wii U
  • The Wii U isn't geared up to deliver an adrenaline rush to hardened shooter fans, but for families with young children, the Wii U could be perfect. Many of Nintendo's own titles for the system have been tailored to a youthful audience, with very little violence and cute, cartoonish graphics. The interactive controller also makes the Wii U a great way for parents and kids to play together.
  • Anyone who has previously owned an Xbox 360 or a Wii might also want to consider backwards compatibility. If you have spent time and money building up a collection of games on either platform, you can still play them on next generation systems. That's not so easy on the PlayStation 4, but you can access PS3 games via Sony's cloud service.
