If you’re a non-student, non-duo music person like myself, or you know one and are able to pay upfront, you can save a bit by grabbing a year at a time. The price is based on getting 10 months for the price of 12 at the old monthly price of £9.99
You’re saving an extra £12 now since the monthly price has risen to £10.99
If you’re wanting to buy multiple cards and claim them to secure a few years at a time, bear in mind that you can only have 18 months of premium stacked on your account at one time. These gift cards are valid for one year from purchase so it’s possible to buy two, redeem the first now, wait until you have 5 months of premium left, then redeem the second.

Do this every year - done it again just before the recent price hike.

You can only have a total of 18 months premium on your account at one time, so if you buy 2 you would need to enter the 2nd one after 6 months.

It's around 90p a month for an individual premium account via Turkey.

If only I could get the option to pay with Google on my "Turkey" Google account. It's so annoying I can't see this option.

That's just a like-for-like gift card. Effectively, you pay £99 to get £99 Spotify credit. No saving.

Can someone already paying student price use this for 18 months ‘credit’ ?
    stevenfox's avatar
    stevenfox Author
It won’t count as “£99 of credit”, it’ll just count as “twelve months of premium”. If you’re already on the student plan this won’t save you any money.

Still too expensive even with this. IMO should be about £5/mth max and they would gain loads more subs as a result.

Lmao you’ve just described supply and demand. It’s like saying Tesco would sell more if their groceries were cheaper. Well yeah but they wouldn’t be able to turn a profit. Use some common sense.

Can you add this to your existing account?
    stevenfox's avatar
    stevenfox Author
You can add it to your own as long as you have less than six months of premium on your account. If you’re paying month-to-month, it should be straightforward.

I wish they did a plan based on usage a bit like data plans on your mobile. I use spotify about once a week so this is still a lot of money for my usage. I have been 'working' the freebies but it would be easier to pay £3 or £4 a month.

No - the terms say it’s only for a single user premium account.

Nope. Spotify will just stop charging you until you run out of ‘gifted months’

Crap deal , sign up to YouTube premium via Turkey (use TunnelBear VPN) and get a family account, which includes 6 members for £2 a month . Then you can use YouTube music too

I got an email yesterday informing me that my Family Premium subscription is going up another £1 to £17.99 from next month
Could really do with some knowledgeable HUKD soul letting me know if there's a cheaper way to have a Family Premium subscription, without having to chop & change individual accounts every few months using the Virtual card / amended email trick. (edited)

I've been switching between £9.99 for 3 months premium and 3 months basic (free) for the last 2 or 3 years. I always get offered the 3 months premium for £9.99 after having basic for 3 months. Works out to £20 for 6 months. Unfortunately, you have to endure adverts for 6 months over the course of the year also.

I use my Google Play credit to pay for it which I've accumulated through Google Opinion Rewards. (edited)

I never had Premium outside free trials that they offer and I didn't realize it's that expensive. Dear lord, I'll stick with YouTube.

Premium is too frustrating for me. Randomiser repeats a lot of songs, even on playlists that are well over 9 hours long.

    App keeps closing itself.

I'll click on things like the random playlist button and instead of actually activating it, instead it tells me that I've found a premium function... when I'm a premium member! 🤦

I'm never paying for premium ever again. I'm cool with the ads compared to all of the incompetence of the app. (edited)

Ugh. I leapt on this but now realise that it *can't" be used as credit for Premium Family, which is what I use. Doesn't look like I can return either. Any ideas? If I have to sell for £90 and chalk £9 as the cost of "experience", I'm up for that :-)

Just to confirm jnglbY's advice. You can't add the gift card to an existing subscription. I contacted very helpful support and they cancelled my existing subscription for this month and refunded cost. They then added the 12 months to the account. Irritatingly this didn't show on the app so I had to open Spotify on chrome to check.
Sorted, but very far from seamless!

Similar to previous comments, I am happy with an India family account linked to an India payment card.

If you have a bank card from another country with a cheaper Spotify rates, definitely give it a try.

The caveat is that the Spotify account must be created in that country (sets country on the account) and VPN does not help here. And use payment card issued in that country.

    ally_n_2000
All those doing the Turkey method. Don't they see you're using a UK IP address to play your music?

Or do people use VPNs every time they play something?
    Conkers816's avatar
    Conkers816
Doesn't matter. If you're a Premium subscriber, you can use it anywhere in the world.

You're only restricted to 30 days "outside the country" if you're using the free version.

I just bought this £99 offer and just noticed i got an email offering me 3 months for 10.99. Anyone know if these stack - i.e. can i buy the 3 months then put the 12 months on top??
    stevenfox's avatar
    stevenfox Author
Should be ok. Get the £10.99 for three months deal first and then add the gift card after. That should give you 15 months of premium.

You can just download a premium version from the Internet which has premium unlocked for free, why would you spend £100 for this?

What are you talking about? Also, maybe some of us would like to support, at least in some small way, the artists who make the music we listen to. There won't be a music industry employing humans in a creative capacity in a few decades time, if no-one pays for it. It'll all just be music bots and 'old music'.
