For those unaware - this is not the same Nokia from years ago. This is a very poor quality Nokia compared to what it used to be. Different owner. (edited)

    Does it have snake though?

Interestingly you can get an adapter to add Freeview or Freesat to the box.

The HDHomerun is better for broadcast/Freeview TV

Is this better or worse spec wise then the fire stick max?
    ChrissyB's avatar
Much worse. A 4K Max would be a far better choice than this.

This is the old Nokia streaming box. It was replaced by the 8010, which is a really good box, but that costs a lot more money.

    Anyone have experience of one?

I've got one in the bedroom as I had it for a bargain, it does the job and having the expandable storage is handy but, as others have said, you would need to sideload the standard TV apps like iPlayer, ItvX etc

Edit - The backlit remote is really good. (edited)

I bought this 6 months ago.. at first was great but lately seems really slow and sluggish and not responding to remote commands immediately.. can anyone recommend a better Android box.. heard the homatics dune box r is good?
    Shark81's avatar
Homatics boxes are made by the same company
Factory reset it and it'll be back like new if issues
If its all linked when you sign in google should tell you the apps downloaded before and ask if you want them downloading again

Why would anyone want anything other than a fire stick?? What more could you want or get? I’m baffled?

Built-in multiple USB ports? Built-in network port? Optical out? Chromecast? No link with Amazon? (edited)

Nokia needs to come out and just take over the phone market like the good old days

Never going to happen, they blinked and Apple, then Google usurped them.

They would need a revolutionary new concept or idea and a new investor with very deep pockets to return to the top.

Is this what people are going to have to start using if Amazon change the OS on the firestick?
    Proudpathan's avatar
Not if you have the Firestick 4k models as these will be around for another good few years, but not sure about other cheaper firestick models

Can you throw it on the floor?

At that point get a Chromecast 4k?

    Nothing beats Nvidia shield
    bazpoint's avatar
Yeah... I did years of random Android TV boxes, all now gathering dust in a drawer of shame... then I got a Shield, & it's just been flawless. More £ but worth every penny in hassle avoided.

The Nokia 8010 is available for around £83 delivered via Amazon Germany which looks like a decent upgrade to the 8000. (edited)

I have the 8010, I use it mostly with Kodi. It's a great speedy little box.

Design Award? it would take 30 second to knock up this in Fusion 360.

Design awards are pay to win in this industry.

Many of the comments on here question the quality. I know it's more money but have a look at the Osmc vero.

This plays everything including great with Atmos sound. It comes with a support network with 5 years of updates.

I think for the purests it won't do DV but it's generally regarded as being to notch for the money.

No BBC iplayer, All 4, or ITVX otherwise I'd be tempted exspecially as it includes Chromecast. Has anybody tried to use this with the Now TV Sky Sports Mobile pass (it's supposed to be mobile phones only so Chromecasting it's content is normally blocked) ?
    RudeYute's avatar
    Really? I'm surprised.

I use the Xiaomi Mi Box 2 (4K), which I am happy with.

I'm looking for a small media box to play x265 from a usb stick when off the grid. Would this play them? Used to use an old Roku box but they cant play x265
