Medium bike set up. I'm 5ft10. Was a bit concerned that it would be too small, but I couldn't be more wrong. The seat post is nowhere near at its limit. For those who went 'large' and are the shorter side, I honestly think you may be struggling a bit?

Bike was fairly easy to set up. Had to put the front wheel on, the pedals on, and the the handlebars on. The handlebars were massively misaligned with the fork so I've straightened that out.

The front brake is really rubbing but hopefully just needs a bit of tweaking.

I was very dubious but for £97 it doesn't seem too bad.

I'd trust the sizing chart here rather than what Decathalon say: tredz.co.uk/hel…ing (see mountain bike numbers)

It looks quite decent in your photo. I'm about an inch taller than you and I've ordered a large, which may be a mistake. I should find out tomorrow.

My brother has this , I would not bother with the medium, it comes in really small, it must the the tube angle or something, he is only 5.7 and returned the medium and got large
    Bendown's avatar
Thanks, thats put my mind at rest now as I have ordered large and loads are saying medium is the best to go for at 5 foot 10 inch

Steel front fork - perfect candidate for an easy fit front hub motor ebike conversion

I was thinking of getting this to do just that.

Chris is on top of it 🏼 🏼😃

    Hello,

Due to the larger than expected order volumes, DPD didn't have room on their collection lorries. We have everything picked and labelled we're waiting on further collections from them. As soon as DPD collect from us, you will be notified. You will get a further txt/email update with a 1 hour delivery time on the day of delivery.

    Kind regards
    Chris

Yeah, my bike is marked as dispatched, but has not been collected by dpd. Not sure how it can be both, as if Pacific have dispatched it and dpd have not collected, it must be sitting on the pavement outside lol.

Didn’t realise before buying but looks like Pacific are Schwinn’s parent company. Maybe they’re just selling off a load of old stock. Stonking deal OP!!!

hi everyone .. quite a noob on this so excuse my question. Any recommendations on mudguards, safety lights/ other accessories? that would be recommended to go on this one assuming that it does turn up (says dispatched!)
    ziggycj's avatar
Mudguards - If using for city commuting, I'd go with full mudguards like amazon.co.uk/SKS…RUQ. But you can get cheaper clip on ones from Halfords/Decathlon that attach to the stem.

Safety lights - whatever you want really. They fit any bike, but on an budget I'd recommend the Aldi front and rear USB set (when they do their bike weeks).

Accessories - again, very open. Are you thinking storage or things like bottle holders? As I will be using mine for commuting, storage is helpful so I'm planning to get a handlebar bag and pannier rack.

I am looking forward to this arriving and taking some parts off of my old bike for it, mudguards side stand etc.
I am also looking forward to reading on here what kits you will buy to adapt this to an e bike, I read that the yose kit was not compatible with hydraulic brakes, but have seen some magnetic clip ons that work with the yose system and with the original brake levers that come with the bike. They were around £20 iirc
    Aznar's avatar
Yose kits are compatible with bikes with hydraulic brakes. They do sell kits with mechanical brake cut offs only though. They are not essential, but best to buy extra sensors for hydraulic brakes:

Decathlon and Sportsdirect are the only sellers. Bit suspect to me, and they can put down any price they like - doesn't mean anybody is buying them. Would you spent £100 on those sportsdirect socks if they weren't 95% off!?
  12. Malachi_X's avatar
Ooh ordered the Mongoose Villain 3 the other day for £140. Any thoughts which is the better bike?
    ollieh1's avatar
What do you mean by better? Are you going to be cycling off-road or down-hill mountain biking? If that's the case then the Mongoose would be more suitable. If you're commuting a few miles to work each day cycling on the roads or cycle paths the Schwinn would be more suitable.
  13. crumpetman's avatar
Any idea how this is packaged in the box? Just handlebars to straighten and pedals to attach or do the wheels need fitting, brakes and gears adjusting etc?
    Crossbow's avatar
Yes, something like that - Decathlon have a good general video guide... (taken from their site lower down the page for the same bike decathlon.co.uk/p/i…102)

  14. Ahmo's avatar
Has the bike been received and assembled by anyone yet? Is it easy to assemble? Thanks
    tommy22b's avatar
Got mine but not built up yet. Looks like just the front wheel, pedals and handle bars to attach and put the seat in of course. All brake/gear cables contected etc. So pretty simple to set up hopefully.

These are the types and make of bike used at centre parcs resorts.
    So can't be that bad

Mine out for delivery between 9.30 and 10.30. Was only dispatched yesterday afternoon

It's arrived. Very much flat packed!!

Cool my escooter died and gotta wait a month for a replacement, so even if it lasts a month, it has paid for itself and I wont care if it gets stolen.
    adil171's avatar
Where do you park it btw, asking for a friend
  18. phoni's avatar
That's the best new bike I've seen for £100 ever.

Tempted but really, really don't need another one.
    darren_hooker's avatar
Oh go on you know you want one! 😬🙈
  19. baggy1234's avatar
I have to say this looks like a pricing error to me ..

I really want to know how this goes , I’ve see. Some really cheap Schwinn MTB going on eBay as of late that I didn’t trust to be what the picture was showing … (edited)
    ollieh1's avatar
All Schwinn bikes have been reduced recently across a load of different sites so I think they're just having a massive clear out. Their parent company (pacific cycle) also own Mongoose and they had a big clearance as well. (edited)

Was due for delivery today - logged into DPD and apparently they are still waiting to recive it - hmmmmm
    reckoning's avatar
It's the generic message because they normally expect to be able to collect the next day and ship out. Due to the large scale of this, it's probably taking a little longer.

There's no way they'd even be contacting DPD if it was a mistake.
  21. tommy22b's avatar
Hi, got a message from DPD saying del today 13.30-14.30. Will let you know if it arrives.
  22. MIER008's avatar
Anyone’s order arrived or dispatched yet?
    peterochdale's avatar
    Mine has just been dispatched
  23. Welliesorter's avatar
No doubt an expert will pop up shortly but the one you post doesn't mention if the disc brakes are hydraulic (unlikely) and the frame is steel rather than aluminium. The Schwinn only has a rear derailleur but that's not necessarily bad. (edited)
  24. cheapasch1ps's avatar
    Still not been collected...
    mosafdar's avatar
Mine neither… I hope they’ve not had a glitch in their tracking updates though.. though I’ve seen some ppl have had delivery tracking updates and ordered after me
  25. davieg1's avatar
I have added a post on Pedelcs website asking for advice on conversion kits for this bike. for those that are also interested the link is HERE
    Bendown's avatar
Great, will keep an eye on that thread
  26. Brian_RRey's avatar
Does anyone know if this has the fittings to attach a mudguard and also a pannier ?
    JonDacasco's avatar
I don't think the rear wheel is suited for a 25KG load (usual limit on the rack) and will buckle.
One pannier with light load might work.
Both loaded with your Aldi shopping (wine and milk) and you're asking for it. (edited)
  27. Bervaglio's avatar
Just bought a Large one this very moment
  28. reckoning's avatar
Are the brakes on the opposite sides to UK bikes?
    M91's avatar
    No
  29. tenkos's avatar
Could this bike do occasional off-road trips on gravel or dirt paths? Or would I risk damaging it somehow?
    tomfromblackpool's avatar
No, it'd be absolutely fine with that. Might get a bit bumpy of course but then at this price you can't get good suspension on a bike anyway.
  30. Alf.Garnett's avatar
    5foot 5 small?
    viper668's avatar
Yes, small should be fine as the medium is for 165-174cm
  31. cheapasch1ps's avatar
Ordered yesterday but just says processing. Anyone had a dispatch confirmation? I fear cancellation emails will be coming in
    peterochdale's avatar
I wouldn’t worry - I cancelled the large for a medium and Pacific Cycles replied to me quickly, not indicating that it’s a misprice. We’re good.
  32. pizzapasta118's avatar
There are 37 smalls available now!
    Besford's avatar
Nope - showing all sizes OOS.
  33. ollieh1's avatar
Mine has been dispatched for the large men's bike. I ordered very early on when it was about 40 degrees. All yours will come soon. Woooo!
    mosafdar's avatar
I ordered just after midnight on Saturday, was a lot hotter by then, and I had dispatch about 15 mins ago. Doesn’t seem to be any order then?!
  34. davieg1's avatar
Thats my order dispatched, should be here some time tomorrow
  35. mosafdar's avatar
Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced good value for money helmet? I’ll be using this bike for recreational riding with the kids and odd commuting 15 miles total a day… thanks in advance!
    scbk's avatar
Go to a local bike shop and try one on, £30 or so for a Lazer helmet, and it's comfy
  36. gianthair's avatar
I appreciate this isn’t a mountain bike but it’s not a racer either. Will it handle basic hybrid-like terrain? Like a cycle track?
    Crossbow's avatar
    It's exactly that, a hybrid.
  37. Jaws1973's avatar
All bikes at 100 quid are just absolute crap but this bike seems to have more going for it
    scrimpersdelight's avatar
    Not all bikes, then.
