Istanbul is a major city in Turkey that straddles Europe and Asia across the Bosphorus Strait. Its Old City reflects cultural influences of the many empires that once ruled here. In the Sultanahmet district, the open-air, Roman-era Hippodrome was for centuries the site of chariot races, and Egyptian obelisks also remain. The iconic Byzantine Hagia Sophia features a soaring 6th-century dome and rare Christian mosaics. ― Google

Dates that are £24 are marked in yellow, others range from £26 to £30+

Tempted by these flights but I've read some absolutely awful reviews of WizzAir customer service. If your flights go ahead as planned then absolutely great, you've got a bargain. But some of the accounts of people having their flight dates changed by WizzAir and then having to phone a very expensive customer service phone number at £1.50 with a whopping £15 connection fee on top as there is apparently no other way to cancel the your ticket if the rearranged dates aren't convenient leaves a really bad taste in the mouth. Has anyone had this happen to them?

Yep. This happened to me twice!! First booked to Cyprus, then Wizzair rescheduled my flights. I was hoping for a refund but instead they gave me wizzair credits (and had to use my credits within one year before they expire). I used my credits to book another trip to Croatia. Again, same thing happened. U guessed it, they rescheduled my flights again. Now, I'm left with more credit on wizzair account then before. There is no easy option to transfer credit into bank account. I found out the hard way, as I knew many others was facing the same issue. Google "wizz air credit conversion request". Wizzair don't make it easy for u. They require your IBAN number and Swift BIC code in order to refund u. You can find this on your bank statement (top right hand corner).

Personally, I would never book with Wizzair ever again. Unless you are will to take a punt and do not care if u go or not. Book a cheap flight and hope for the best. But if u must go, don't book with wizzair because of the uncertainty. Good luck.

Anyone recommend a good 4*- 5* self booking hotels at decent price. Might take advantage of these flights.

You dont necessarily need a 5*. 3-4* is good. Ideally aim to stay in sirkeci, sultan ahmet area. Has trams to all main areas. Thank me later

Just back after staying in Sultanamet, stunning city to visit, so much to see and do.

But the “tax” at restaurants was just added service charge at exorbitant levels

Good price but not with Wizzair. Please do yourself a favour and read about flights cancellation due to faulty engine repair. 1/3 of Wizzair’s fleet going through check in/repair which majority of flights are cancelled or rescheduled.

rather than a hotel, i'd probably look to book a self contained place so we can come and go as we please. gonna cost a fortune though

What’s the weight and dimensions of the hand language?

Taxi scams really put me off. (edited)

Airline Baggage Allowance - Details Here
    • Personal Item: 40 x 30 x 20 cm. Max. 10kg (Free)

I'd recommend (if travelling with 2) sharing a 20kg suitcase if going for more than 4 days.

Total cost would be something like £135 altogether for 2 (£67pp but a greater allowance if needed)

If WizzAir reschedule the flight are you able to claim compensation to cover the hotel’s expense?

I think they often do this. They lure people in with cheap flights then nearer the time will cancel the flights you'll then be left with a credit voucher which you have to redeem within a year and run the risk of it happening again. If their flights are less than half the price of another airline at the same flight time I'd be suspicious. They've screwed me over a few times and left me out of pocket. Having to use the voucher on more expensive flights than I originally booked.

It usually costs an airline a fair bit of money to reschedule a flight... That's why even after COVID there ended up being near empty planes flying.

Be warned Istanbul has gone very very expensive - I guess due to inflation
    smudgyboy's avatar
Inflation is high but last week, a meal for 2 with starter and main each, sprite and a beer was £30, hardly expensive compared to uk

WizzAir.. I rather pay twice as much to fly with a better airline
