Very good price for a 5G home router in almost brand new condition. Listed as unlocked. Have bought and confirmed in almost brand new condition, although only tested with a 3 UK sim.

Bonus is it has external antenna ports.

CEX are selling for £150+ and others listed much higher on eBay.

This is auction. The final price may be higher.

I've heard horror stories of these routers being disabled years after the fact and you should always buy the non branded ones cause they have the network's firmware, so they can disable them at any point.

    Any truth to this?
    Rimi's avatar
No, that is not a truth. What they can do(Three) is block IMEI if previous owner has unpaid their contract.

Good price. Got one from Ali for £104 last year and that one looked like never was used. Even firmware was not updated. Rebranded Zyxel, but custom firmware made many limitations on it.

The EE one has more restrictions on than the 3 one, but none of the E models support the full set of functions like the non E model. Also I keep seeing 2x2 MIMIO for the E version and 4x4 for the non E.

Interesting that the CEX prices have gone up by about £20 since I bought mine in early Dec. Supply and demand kicking in I expect.

Can this be configured to kick in only if my broadband goes down?.

I'm thinking of a backup solution for my Internet as I work from home.

Yeah. You can use it as a backup. Plug your regular WAN into the router and it'll just switch over if it goes down. I did a youtube video on this a while back.

Did anyone else buy one of these? Mine is not only v unreliable, but also came with a generic 2A power supply whilst the router is labelled as requiring 3A. To my mind gives rise to a fire hazard concern. Mine will be going back.

Under amped isn't a fire hazard, but will almost definitely cause your unreliability since it's not the correct spec for the device.
