I have a 4 year old 65" Ambilight with Philips own Crappy Saphi OS, yes it's slow and rubbish with some apps missing but I use a cheap (and brilliant) BT TV Pro box for Freeview/most apps and a Firestick for any other apps.

Not once has the slow Philips OS bothered me...... if you don't plan to use the built in apps or Tv Tuner you will never see it.

I'd still buy mine again tomorrow just for the extra level of viewing you get with Ambilight....

One thing I would add though is if you plan on wall mounting your better off looking for a 4-Sided Ambilight model, the 3-sided models like this one are really intended for use with the stand.

One of the worst TV's of all time all things considered, despite the Ambilight actually not being as gimmicky as you might think.

Yes, you can add a Firestick or a console to it so that it doesn't lag and crawl when trying to do anything, but for a modern, branded TV you really shouldn't have to. (edited)

    Absolutely wrong. Ambilight is fantastic.
Once you have had it you never go back.
    This is a cracking deal.

    Ambilight is brilliant.

Unfortunately this uses their own operating system which was garbage.  That can be bypassed with a fire stick or something similar.

This i have the 50inch. Tv is great other than the terrible operating system, that crashes and is the slowest thing known to man

I have Philips Android TV and it's spot on. 5 years old now and still work fine I would never buy a TV without Android. Just wish Samsung would do Android TV.

Is it Android? Are they all still? Mines pretty laggy but I only really use a single app so never notice until I try and do something else.

Who cares about the software and the apps. Just plugin a fire stick and your get a better experience than all TV anyway. I have 2 Philips for years and never had a problem

94 KW power consumption? Most double up as a storage heater also

    That will be per year.

Is there anyway to uninstall unused useless apps via ADB at all? We have the "65PML9636" which we purchased in 2021. It's been an Amazing set, and still has updates regularly. I'm just so annoyed, and angry that you have to uninstall, and disable loads of crappy apps no-one will ever use! Every god damn time you turn the set on. It's such a headache. I've had a quick look on XDA, but can't seem to find anything. Not sure if I'm looking in the correct place. Anybody know please? (edited)

I have used this on Firecube - some good walkthrough videos on YouTube

As others have said, it is completely unacceptable how slow and laggy and basically useless the OS is on Philips TVs, mine is only usable with the fire stick.  The ambilight is good though.

I hear people on the smart TV stuff, ours is 4-5 years old. We use it for netflix, disney+ and prime video. Kids use youtube on it. It feels about the same speed as our Fire TV sticks that aren't the newer 4k versions.

We all love the ambilight though. Really impressive. It's not gimmicky, it genuinely does add to the experience. We have an amazing sound system too though, think its the Samsung Q950, or maybe Q900 with rear speakers... we're just as happy watching films on this TV as we are at the cinema to be honest.

Just be careful some of Philip’s models are slow and laggy they know about it and don’t care they not installed enough ram memory in the tv it’s crap

Had our 50' ambilight for 5 years now and never had an issue with the OS. Ambilight is a bit gimmicky and I wanted one because our friends had one and now I much prefer it to a std tv. Ours is on a large bland wall and the colours really add to the experience ime.

Nothing gimmicky about it! Ambilight is pure magic when it comes to making you feel immersed in the movie or series! Or even the menu for sky! I’ve had mine for 4 years and I still love the ambilight it’s the best tv I’ve ever had

I've been meaning to get an Ambilight set for the bedroom. A bit too big for us, but the price looks really nice. Ambilight is really impressive though.

    Nice one!

Considering the size/price I wouldn't expect anything else.

I back all the comments here. Philips TVs unfortunately are just not built with user experience and quality in mind. I have one and am not happy.

Also wasn't this TV up for £424 just a few days ago?

A 65 inch is perfect for a cinematic experience in a small room.

    What’s the picture quality like?

The only thing people should be worrying about not os or led lighting lol

Hi, does anyone have a blue light code? Thanks

Just an idea for existing people in this thread poo pooing Philips TVs, an idea for possibly fixing/speeding things up is doing a complete reset of the TV. After 5+ years in my experience TVs can get a bloated/corrupted caches and bugs get more common. Sometimes complete resets can fix these things. Although definitely not defending Philips TVs, I have a Philips 43" from around 2018 and it's ok, but weirdly when plugging in any usb hard drive to the back of the TV, the whole TV becomes stupidly slow, and even channels stop working think something is actually broke on the thing to make performance that bad, but without them plugged in it's a decent little TV still. And as others have said ambilight is pretty 🌈🙃
