It's £146 buy it, if it needs replacing under warranty then customes fees will do you over. If it needs replacing try and get a refund as custom fees on RMAs are complex and don't work out. Unless you can get Amazon to co-operate in that regard.

So what is good about a 5800X why not get a 5700X? Well yeah you can but if this is the cheapest option you can PBO/Curve Optimise this in the BIOS and you should be doing that anyway. This CPU will do most people for gaming and many productivity tasks etc. Save the money that you would have spent on a 5700X3D / 5800X3D and put it towards a better GPU etc. (edited)

It's only just over £50 more to get the 5700X3D currently on Amazon Germany.

It's amazing how much the 5800X specifically has depreciated from launch in light of the X3D chips

Decent CPU but it was released on November 5th 2020 so getting on for 4 years old now.

Does this come with a fan? I've got a 3600 and just trying to factor in if I would need to get one on top

I’d probably look at a better cpu cooler than the one you received with a 3600 for this cpu.

That seems like a great deal, tempting!

worth an upgrade from a 5600?

I'm assuming 5600x? For gaming not really worth the effort - if you do anything that leverages the extra threads and can sell the 5600x then maybe? Otherwise wait for a full system upgrade on am5

it's a good deal but is roughly on par with the Intel 12400 in terms of performance and would not offer much in the way of upgrades unlike the socket 1700.

I was tempted as i'm in the market but I think 12400F plus spend a little more on an intel 1700 mobo and ddr5 to break even will be a better more future proof combination.

12400F is more a competitor for the 5600X, you probably mean the 12600 as compettition for the 5800X.
