Please NOTE... if you choose the 𝟱𝟱𝟬𝟬𝗨 option & paying in USD, VAT is added at Aliexpress checkout. With this, no further payment is required when it arrives in the UK.

However, if you were to choose the 𝟱𝟲𝟬𝟬𝗛 option, VAT is not added at checkout. With this, VAT+carrier processing fee (around £35-40) will most likely be charged in the UK as the majority of buyers experienced in the previous deal hotukdeals.com/dea…383

    You're right.

I ordered this last month, with the 5600h.

VAT wasn't added by Aliexpress, and I was stung by customs, around £40.

The final cost was around £200, all inclusive. I would not have bought it if I knew this. There were better options on Amazon for next day delivery.

Ignoring the cost, it's a very nice piece of kit though. Much smaller than I expected.

I'm running Proxmox on it, with Windows 11, a few LXC/Docker containers, and a bunch of Linux distributions for testing/playing purposes.

I will upgrade memory to 32gb, and nvme drive to 2tb at some stage. It's running fine as it is though.

I ordered this PC, it's supposed to be 5 day delivery, 14 days have passed and I haven't received it yet.

It took six days to leave China, then 3 days to Holland, then it just sat there for 4 days.

It's finally in the UK, but then spent another 4 days in UK customs.

This seller obviously uses the cheapest shipping companies.

Sometimes they don't have ready stock, so it ships out late. Further delays could be related to it incurring VAT at Customs as over the £135 threshold.
I bought a different miniPC from another seller, which said 7-day delivery. It took 27 days & was sent by FedEx (probably not cheap), but I suspect something similar happened along the way. Didn't pay VAT at Aliexpress or in the UK, as the seller undervalued it.

works great got this last time and yes £38 custom charge which i took the chance on.
Just wanted a small form pc that works well and it does all of that.

Was this just 20% tax? Or is there other fees on top of the tax?

This thing took like 2+ weeks to arrive. It went through Netherlands so custom duty. Amount marked on packaging is 201 euros. So get ready for a 40 quid custom and admin fee.

The device itself - manual had me in stitches. I love how it tells you to be careful of dangerous software - twice. Oh, and lightning - be careful of that too!

I wiped the SSD and installed Win11 myself. Then the driver woes started and a day spent hunting down the necessaries (btw - don't go grabbing anything from firebat website - those drivers are old and untrustworthy).

Once it was all set up the performance is impressive. For such a small device I'm really impressed. Much better and a lot faster than the N100's floating around (I have one too).

Worth every penny so far. Just be aware of import duty and dodgy windows and drivers - clean it!

What is the Firebat website? I couldn't even find it.

Has anyone received the 5500u version and are able to confirm that the USB C 3.2 is fully functional (i.e. power delivery and display)? It's a deal breaker for me. It appears the 5600H for sure supports it.
    Crossbow's avatar
Ask people who bought the 5500U from the previous deal hotukdeals.com/dea…383 - you may have to wade through all the pages to find someone.

    this or a Dell i5 12500T micro ?
    Crossbow's avatar
Specs are close enough & so are the cost of secondhand ones ebay.co.uk/sch…=15, so it may come down to...
    - physical size & weight, Dell is larger & heavier but not by much
    - greater(?) expandability options with the Dell &
    - whether or not you are paranoid about the very slim possibility of BIOS-level malware in these FE miniPCs. (edited)

For me 99% of this mini pc deal links do not work on HUKD. When I click on *Get Deal* I always get the following

Can no longer checkout, looks like the seller has increased the price.
    Crossbow's avatar
Still ok here, getting the $187.18 price as mentioned in the op. Try another browser, incognito window, alternative device or their app.

Is there room for an optical drive in these, or is the slot just for show?
    slimboyfat's avatar
lol no chance. They're tiny. The area is for show but also airflow

And talking of airflow, these things can get noisy. The fans aren't that quiet

    19v 3.42A. See this post:

    hotukdeals.com/com…269

I bought the same Toshiba PA3917U-1ACA laptop mains adaptor from eBay:

    ebay.co.uk/itm…792

I felt it was much less likely to cause a fire and cause my house to burn down than something from AliExpress!

I can't remember the diameter of the barrel but I can measure it when I get home. (edited)

I noticed that Ali saved my Revolut card number even though I selected No to that option.  Make sure you use one of their Online shopping Single Use cards

On the subject of replacement power packs; I have an old NUC power pack with correct barrel size, however its "only" rated for max of 65w and note the supplied unit is rated at 90w. 65w is still way above to 45w TDP. Would it likely have enough headroom? (edited)

I've not received mine yet but you sure the supplied PSU is rated at 90W?

    Because based on: hotukdeals.com/com…997

    Its 19V 3.42A

    Power = Voltage x Current

    So your 65W PSU:

    Current = 65/19=3.42A

Exactly the same as the original. (edited)

Its good that it was a single 16Gb and not 8Gb x2. Think I might upgrade mine but I want to try and get a matching module as this improves stability.
