Bear in mind this is a 4mm lens, so fov will be limited. If you want wide angle, look for a 3.6 or 2.8mm lens

so this was good advice, i have yet to put mine in final intended position, but from a quick test i think the FOV will be too narrow for my intended purpose. Any recommendation for POE cameras (Reolink if possible, cause I will use other camera elsewhere) that fit the bill?

Is this any good at reading number plates?

    Really good price..

Does anybody know if these would work with Viper (Qvis) PoR NVRs?

Reolink have changed the hardware inside these and the sound is now dreadful. Recordings sound like they are underwater. Shame as they were very good for the price with the previous hardware.

If I wanted to set this up does anyone have any advice on getting someone to do that? Do I need anything else apart from this? Thanks in advance

Yes, you need something to power it and a network cable to connect it. So ideally you would get either a POE Switch if you just want to power it and use an SD card on the camera to record. Or a reolink recorder that has recording for up to 4 or 8 (depending on which model) cameras. (edited)

I have so many issues with reolink stuff. not as good as it once was.

Such as? I have three of these cameras, the PoE doorbell, the Duo 2 Floodlight and the standalone floodlight too. Never had issues with them.

Can I plug this into my hikvision NVR?

From what I've read, Unlikely, the branded DVRs usually only work with their own cameras.

Branded DVR's / NVR's are unlikely - not impossible - to directly address a camera using it's proprietary connection, but using RTSP as the connection method (which most NVRs should support) it should be possible. Personally, I went away from a dedicated NVR and use my Asustor NAS which supports 4 cameras out of the box and additional licenses allow any number (depending on Asustor model and disk space). Reolink can work with mine:
    • Name: what you want
    • Mark: User-Defined
    • Model: RTP over RTSP (TCP)
    • IP/Host: The IP of your camera
    • Port: 80
    • RTSP Path: /h264Preview_01_main
    • RSTP Port: 554
    • Username: Your reolink user
    • Password: The password associated with the user above
RTSP path may be different depending on model. I have a duo, so replace '01' with '02' if you want the other camera (edited)
