Aluminium alloy mountain bike frame (size 17-inch) is lightweight, takes less energy to get up to speed and durable.

Frame design provides in-control riding position and riser handlebar shape including front suspension to maximise your enjoyment of biking trails.

Disc brakes give reliable strong stopping power in all weather conditions and on steep or fast descents.

9-speed rear-only gearing is simple - just shift from high to low gears and back, 1 through to 9 like a car gearbox.

The Mens model features 29 inch wheels with 2.1 inch wide mixed-terrain MTB tyres. These are smoother on the road than a full off-road tread while still maintaining grip on the trails.

    So little update

Adjusted gears by turning this black knob clockwise until the end to ease cable tension. Now they are switching bang on without trying to jump up/down.

    Inflated tyres to 3 bars.
    Test drove it.
And it is a great bike for the bucks in my opinion.

Good info, I bought one to go on short bike rides with my kids. Should do what I need it to.

I was actually really impressed with the quality of this:

Lightweight, well put together - for £100 nowadays it's amazing value!

Also available at sports direct, we ordered last week and it arrived yesterday. Word of warning though, this is the most poorly built bike I’ve had the unfortunate privilege of building. You will get exactly what you pay for on this…so if you’re in the market for budget, that’s what you’ll get with no frills, where should I start…
It claims to be purple on the website but it is actually black (at least that’s what we got).
The suspension is soft and spongey as hell (with no possible adjustment), it also came slightly twisted as it’s only welded together with a soft metal bridging bracket which meant the calliper rubbed and fowled the disc despite adjusting it as much as possible, I ended up manually twisting it back into shape with my hands which also re-aligned the wheel mounts too.. it just shows how soft the metal is I guess.
The gears needed setting up completely as not one gear would select correctly and ended up jumping multiple cogs, not as simple as it should have been.
The tyres don’t seem to fit the rims properly and just seem too big, they peel off with no effort at all. The tyres recommend inflating to between 30 - 55psi, I got as far as 24psi and it just burst off and spilled its guts like a scene from an alien film.

Overall not impressed at all, maybe I was just unlucky and got a dud but will be asking to return it on Tuesday as feel it’s just the beginning of problems to come. (edited)

I wonder if its the wheel rim that is undersized or oversized tyres or a bit of both. The wheel in that image actually looks quite nice with a proper freehub and cassette and 36 spokes. Should in theory be very strong if the spoke tension is setup correctly. The tyre looks extremely basic. Sometimes the rim tape is too wide and prevents the bead of the tyre sitting correctly in the rim. However from what you have said about the frame the bike sounds unsafe. Maybe the frame hasn't been heat treated as an economy measure and therefore is much weaker and more flexible than a proper heat treated 6061 frame. Cheaper frames can also be mechanically formed rather than hydro formed etc which means they come with more pre-fatigue. It sounds like your frame is either just an individual frame that has been badly made or maybe a frame of very low spec. Is there a manual that states weight limits for the bike?

Ordered for me teenage boy. Bargain!

Assembled bike today. Weight is 15.3 kg, I'd say it is not THAT heavy.

Put pressure of 2 bars in each tyre for now.

Some little alignment with front brakes done to stop grinding noise, rear brakes perfectly aligned from factory, gears to adjust slightly and lubrication left to do.

    Let's see how it goes.

    Good night. (edited)

No, an American bike company that was founded in Victorian times, 25 years before Shimano.

Suppliers have overstocked on bikes and struggling to shift them at the rrp so selling them at 50-70% off.

Also available at Chain Reaction at £179 and possibly Wiggle both are now Mike Ashley retail brands. Maybe later their prices will start mirroring that of other Mike Ashley retailers.

Pretty good price, the spec isn't fantastic and that fork will weigh more than the frame, but for a super basic 1x 29'er you can't really complain.
