Anyone got one and can give the pros/cons?

I don't like one thing, when you change the battery, need to turn off the Anti-theft alarm.. otherwise.. it will go off, as soon as you try to change the battery around every 40 days.

Pro you keep your footage on the SDcard you purchase.

would advise getting a spare battery, so one is on the doorbell, and the other can be charged up.

Really happy with this, so much better than the rubbish blink doorbell I had before. With this you can instantly get video when it detects motion unlike with the blink which would take 10-30 seconds to connect. its also much better quality. battery lasts ages as well. one more bonus for me is I have other tapo stuff so I've set it up to turn on my hallway light when it detects motion so the light is one when I come home or I get a little early warning before someone rings the bell

Can anyone recommend anything that is powered by wire and can do 24hr recording without a subscription?
The battery doorbells just don't work for me as I live near a shop so always people walking by triggering it which kills battery options.
Have a nest now I'm happy with except the subscription charge

I'm waiting for the Tapo D130 (wired) to be released in the UK. Hopefully it'll be out soon!

Has the hub got to be connected to the router via the ethernet cable all the time or just on the set up ?

I gather you can connect it via wifi if preferred. The H100 is wifi only but the H200 (- this one) gives the choice of either.

Looking to replace my ring camera but can't decide between this and blink!

I’ve got a Tapo cam and a blink doorbell, I want to replace the blink doorbell because I find it slow, even when just checking outside, sometimes it takes over 30 seconds to connect, by that time I’ve given in and closed the app and if it was someone at the door they have usually gone too

I'm very pleased with mine. Great image quality and easy to buy a second battery for a quick swap out when needing charged. I'd say the main cons to this doorbell: (1) It isn't as solidly built as a google doorbell and it's slightly uglier. (2) The battery doesn't last that long between recharges...I get about 2 weeks with mine.

2 weeks? Something must be up with yours, mine is at 30% after 4 months on the first charge. I just checked and I get an average of 15 recordings a day lasting 15-20 seconds each. I've set a recording blackout zone so cars driving past won't set it off only people actually approaching the door so that could explain the difference if you have high usage?

This looks so cheap and plasticky. The Ring doorbell I have looks way better and supports hard-wiring so gives off a nice continuous white glow. Nothing against TP Link if they released one that had better materials and either hard-wiring or power over ethernet I'd consider it. (edited)

Exactly. TP Link needs a hardwired version that’s less bulky.

How do they stack up against ring doorbells, performance and picture quality wise?
    Westwood906's avatar
Not as wide as the Ring. But everything else, I would say better and faster

Apt timing given the reported massive increase that's coming in the Ring subscription.

A word of warning - I was going great with my indoor Tapo stuff (smart light switches and motion sensors mostly) but currently having a lot of problems with devices going offline since I upgraded my router, so hoping to troubleshoot over the weekend. I've been led to believe that turning off one of the 2.4 GHz channels (- 6 I think) may sort it. I can't blame the H100 hub as it's affecting my smart bulb too, which doesn't use the hub. Fingers crossed.

Interesting. I'm just getting into the Tapo world and was wondering how reliable the wifi is. Do you have separate SSID's for you 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks?

if its anythin like insides of a similarly spec'd 2k c525ws frm tapo it shud be good, impressed with app too

2 main issues with Tapo outdoor cameras,
1 - hub range is rubbish, as soon as you take your camera outside, the signal gets really weak. Ok if you have only 1 camera and 1 hub near by. But forget about having multiple cameras connected to single hub from around detached house.
2 - picture is very pixelated when you zoom in to it. You cannot read any number plate or identity someone clearly. Well known issue this is.

Indoor camera is fine because their purpose is different.

I had both doorbell and wireless outside camera, which I swapped for reolink wired one. Not the best but lot better that Tapo outdoor camera. And no hassle of charging in this rubbish weather.

Anyone have this and have it linked to an echo show, does it work well when doorbell is pressed?

Have sent 2 of these back and stuck with Ring. Mic is atrocious, crackly and inaudible. Was willing to overlook this but then it started corrupting the SD card. Went through 3 decent brand cards and all had the same issue. It's a shame as image is a tad better than Ring overall. I should also add I have 2 x Tapo cameras and smart plugs and these are great products, so was massively disappointed by this. (edited)
