I buy this sim to use overseas (eg EU / US and parts of South America / Far East) - simply convert the £10 credit into a 10GB bundle for 30 days (12GB if you agree to recurring billing - I don't).

Cheapest way to get a SIM that you can use overseas with a decent amount of data and also make unlimited calls/texts back to the UK.

    Heat.

Sometimes, some sellers sell them for under £4 too, but even at this price still great value.

After my trip, I throw away the sim once the month is up (in the interim the 3plus rewards is great) and then buy another one when needed.

PS Just make sure you turn off mobile data on your mobile BEORE inserting this SIM. Then activate the sim, convert the £10 into a 10GB data pack bundle and then turn mobile data back on (turning off mobile data before activation stops the phone using data at PAYG rates and using up some of the £10 credit).

"make sure you turn off mobile data on your mobile BEORE inserting this SIM" - I found this out the hard way. Getting Three customer support to then make a goodwill gesture and give me 10GB data was a ridiculously protracted experience that made me wish I had never bought the SIM in the first place.

Do these require top up every 30 days?

Apparently not, see below from the three PAYG faq's

Standard PAYG pricing info if anyone wants to know, looks like cheapest way to keep the SIM active for an emergency phone is 15p per sms.52571181-WSuJr.jpg

Many thanks for your two screenshots, summarising where we are with regards to keeping the Three PAYG Sim Card active. Must say in passing that PAYG rates are quite high with Three.

Not if you are going to use it for roaming in USA as a bundle. (edited)

    What’s the catch?

What, other than costing 10p an MByte( from that nominal 30 quid/ roughly 2p at the price paid)? I'm having a hard time working out who would have a use for them.
My late and much missed father, of course. In his 90s, he never phoned anyone.
If you want to get past the producer at LBC, with a new number each time you ring, I suppose.
A wireless gate intercom, perhaps. Yes, it would do nicely for that, provided you don't have too many arriving at the gate and using it.

I was told by Three that they no longer support PAYG sims. I got a PAYG SIM for roaming and I also had a 24gb data SIM in my mifi which was still valid. I've used Three for years for travel. Maybe I got the wrong end of the stick but I had used the one in my phone quite a lot. (edited)

They probably told you they don't support paygo sims to try switch you to pay monthly or contract. Unethical selling.

Can Three credit be used as account billing on the Google playstore?

I have bought several similar deals and on a number of occasions the phone has automatically sent a text (unclear to who) when the sim was put in the phone, leaving the credit balance a few pence short for a £10 pack and leaving the sim useless. (edited)

You could have contacted Three Customer Services and explained the situation. They would have given you the shortfall missing credit to make it up to £10 as a gesture of goodwill and you could have bought a bundle if so desired.

    Great for visiting US.

Roams on Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile so better coverage than Sleepy Joe will be getting!
