    Was going to buy Wusthof classic knives at some point soon. Anyone have Gourmet that could attest to the quality?

    Gourmet are not forged steal.

    Great price but you can't really compare the two.

    RRP is heavily inflated but still very good discount imo.

    Tempted on this but the block, cleaver and scissors will unlikely ever be used so it’s not much of a saving on just buying the 3 gourmet knifes included in this.

    Hmmm or do I just get more zwillings next time they pop up

    Who here has a need for a meat cleaver?
    Like = yes
    Helpful = no
    Funny = yes, but not for food

    Should catch a few serial killers

    Mine arrived few hours ago, managed to shave some hair on my arm, also managed to cut myself taking them out of the box.
    And no sharpener in the box.

    According to the description, it also comes with Wusthof Pocket Size Knife Sharpener which sells for £9.00 on it's own.

    Henckels International have some decent deals on sets,but how do they hold up to these??

    What is this high carbon steel? X50?
    I'd rather buy ninja set (x50 as well from the same place - just made somewhere else). I don't care if it's laser cut or manually chiselled in Pakistan. As long as it's a good steel and it's shaped appropriately it'll do.
    Great price of someone wants this brand. Voted hot.

    I love the clever though. (edited)

    Has anyone purchased these? Are they worth it?

    I don't have this set, but do have a Wusthof Classic set that I bought nearly 10 years ago, and a Santoku knife (a separate gift). They need occasional sharpening, but have been faultless. Never put them in the dishwasher. Would be interested in a cleaver

    Discount code NEWHERE3 saves a whopping £2.97 if that helps

    I have a bigger set of Wüsthof knives I bought at Macy's in Chicago about 15 years ago.

    Amazing knives, all still going strong, and used daily.

    Heat.

    How do these compare to the Ninja set?
  15. smala01's avatar
    Amazing price for traditional shaped knives, had to double check they were not some budget version but they seem legit.

    However, go to a knife store (even procook will do) and try cutting with Santoku (japanese) shaped knives. They are the real game changer. No more banging your knuckle on the chopping board. You can then spend large amounts on "high carbon" versions of the shape you prefer.

    They are the budget version that Wüsthof make. They are not forged steel.

    They are still good value but not like the better ones Wüsthof make. (edited)

    It was either these or the Victorinox SwissClass set for me.

    I ordered these. Going to sell the bits I wont use.
    Willy_Wonka's avatar
    Out of interest, how are you going to sell them?

    Any recommendations for a decent carving knife? Sunday dinner in our house is usually chunks of chicken or beef rather than succulent slices.

    Mine just arrived, no sharpener PLUS they've removed it from the listing.
