I got the new one today and very impress with the sound quality and build. I was moving one from B&W c5 which driver seems to malfuction rather quickly. Three side of my C5 gone bad and has to be replace over a year. My other headphone seems ok and never been replaced. Thanks for posting...

I opted for the new ones but I agree, very happy with these! Build quality is something else if you are like me and used to cheaper options, a lot of different ear tips and the case is nice too. Thanks OP had my eyes on these for years

My refurbished ones came today. Like new and sound good.

thanks im gonna try doing it with magnifying glass see what happens anyway thanks for instant reply :D (y) (y)

You can get bigger 3.5mm jacks with screws which make it easier. But you lose the ability to use them with phone cases etc. I stripped the wires back and then positioned at right angles to the jack. Blob of solder on the jack, tin the wire (use a lighter to get rid of the insulation). Solder and pray (lol) .

Shame its not the bluetooth version

Hot, was about to post this deal!

Great price for these, usually £45ish.

Hot from me...Amazing earphones, even at full price. Amazon also have the non-mic version for £22.99.

Agreed, they come in a case, use it! (angel)

You've obviously mistreated your E10's as mine as lasted nearly 8 years now. They are the best earphones iv ever had by far....

The e10s are not well made. Break easily.

I'm not saying it's a 'super special' deal, I'm saying it's a valid deal and to stop deterring people within this community from posting deals from fear of unnecessary negativity from people like yourself. You personally have been doing it the whole time to myself, all I've wanted to do is take part in this forum and all I've had in return is sniping and argumentative behaviour from you. Despite the deal left still standing by the mediators you've made me feel like I need to unnecessarily prove that my input is genuine and valid. This in not a difference in opinion, this is me telling you to think twice about quickly and flippantly putting people down that simply want to be part of something and ultimately to help other people out.

@TinglyFinger You really are desperate to try and make your deal seem super special when it's not really. You have your opinion and I have mine.

Soundmagic Vento 55 closed back headphones £59 @ HiFi Headphones

SoundMAGIC Vento P55 Closed Back Headphones with Replaceable Cable and Mic Amazon price £176.22 have good reviews.

Received mine and the quality is amazing. Will be keeping these

My headphones arrived today I'm well pleased with the quality and sound :D

I would like to hear what you think of the p55 when you have listened to them I am waiting to compare with my Grado 325's which are an amazing sound but not very comfortable.

I don't have a lot of experience in this field (£60 on these P55s took a while to justify) but my take on the difference between the E10 & E50 is not worth it if you already have one or the other. I don't like the descriptions of sound like 'openness' 'tight' 'muddy' but they serve a purpose when experienced. E50 are a bit more natural and open and I think I do prefer them over the E10. It's hard to double blind them as they have a different barrel so inserting them will give away which model it is... Even with help setting up the kit, the other person will be unlikely to get them in your ear correctly. Saying that I might at least try with the missus at some point. TLDR: if you have the E10 wait until you need to replace them and try the E50 then. If you have neither for an extra tenner or so on average I'd go for the E50. If the E10 is under £20 get them.

How are e50 vs e10?

SoundMagic were good value but increasingly less so. The price of becoming more mainstream. I wouldn't pay this price for this model, Sony makes better at this price level. Comparison to an open back Senn 500x series is irrelevant.

User reviews can be very subjective, so independent reviews are better I feel. Another review here: "Music genres good for and why: TheSoundMAGIC Vento P55 excels at dance music, funk and Hip Hop, while its strong midrange suits genres such as classical and jazz particularly well."

Reviews are funny things. I own a set of £300 Blue Mo-Fi's which I got cheap because the person selling them did not know what they were (estate sale). They sound astonishing but What Hi Fi only gave them 2 stars out of 5. This surprised me as to me they sounded a lot better than the cans they had given 5 stars to which I also owned. I take reviews on board when I read them but it is a good idea to read a lot of them rather than just one or two to get a better overall opinion.

So, my point is to get opinions of actual users!!!

I suggest you go read a few back issues of either mag; they DONT give much, if anything, negative in their reviews for ANYTHING by a major manufacturer; it is usually piddling little things like the control button being 1mm left of where they want it to be; anything even mildly critical of sound quality is either for no names, or when sound quality is AWFUL. I came across this myself back in the 90's, a raving review for an over-priced CD player neglected to mention that on any decent, revealing speakers, you could hear nasty artefacts in the upper registers caused by the cheap ,n nasty DAC they had fitted; and even today they praise the LP12 to the roof, whereas my experiences were that even modestly priced TT could and did sound better. My then £350 Manticore with RB300 and Ortophon MC20 sounded so much better than my step fathers RP3 that he went out and spent £1000 on a LP12/Basik, and when that didnt make enough difference, another £1000 on an arm/cart upgrade, and when THAT didnt make enough difference, another £1000 on the upgrade kit. He was infuriated when my modest set up still sounded better, and then spent god knows how much on speakers and pre/power amps, easily in excess of £5000. All of this stuff got rave reviews, whereas my kit, from relatively small outfits got "good for the price", bass heavy", too much top end" etc reviews. it is lucky for him that I had to sell the Manticore (I hate the CSA), or he would be bankrupt by now.

Jeee this have gone up inflation lol, personally feel 5£ ones sound same for most people

Too expensive. I remember paying less for them when I bought 3-4 years ago, still working good so can't argue with durability. Sound quality wise they were quite a big step down from the Sennheiser CX 300-II that they replaced

Thanks will update in the description :)

I cannot vouch for this particular model, but the SoundMagic phones I have had over the years have been giant killers; the £19 pair I first got my sweaty hands on (via an electronics mall in Guangzhou, China), completely blew away the £130 pair I had been using. There is also a great story (possibly even true) behind them. It is said the company started life making knock-offs of a famous headphone brand, however it turned out the knock-offs were actually BETTER than the genuine versions; and that eventually they got the contract to make them as the genuine supplier to the famous brand name.

Worth noting that some reviews may be based on the early version of these, and were highly critical of the then harsh sound. So much so that Soundmagic pulled the headphones from sale and retuned the sound in an attempt to address these criticisms.

Looks like £15.00 off these headphones that get great reviews. Seems to be only colours not black, but still a great deal.

Not good build quality, do not last. Frankly, I do not even think the sound quality is that good. But some people think the sound quality is good, which is a matter of opinion.

I replaced a set of the standard E10 which had lasted a good couple of years of daily use with the E10s version which then failed at the switch after 6 months. Good sounding headphones but the cable seems to fail at the joins around the switch very quickly, the standard version doesn't have this issue which'll be why it's rarely reduced.

£25.99 on Amazon with some not so good reviews. seems the IOS/Android switch may be problematic.

So what is the difference between e10s and e10m ? both seems to have mic?

I think apple earpods don't work with android (in-line controls) but I would look out for specific android ones to be sure, I know sony do some in ears around £20 which are marketed as compatible with android. My xiaomi hybrids work with my oneplus 2.

I've had the sound magic E10 headphones for 4+ years, they are very good. I too recommend using the Comply foam earbuds. I do regard these as disposable though as they split after a while.

I think that's the case with many cheaper options, people make it sound as though they're audiophile grade, however they're more like a really good sounding pair of 50 pound earphones and not a more expensive 20 pound pair :-)

Just returned mine to Amazon. Overall i was very disappointed by the sound (maybe expected too much after reading all the reviews).

I thought the e10m had finished and even though there is a £2.99 delivery charge this still seems like a cracking deal for a good earphone with microphone

Need a new set, nice find jpr.

ordered these last week, now returned. That plastic iOS/android switch looks cheap as hell and in a stupid position plus if you wiggled the headphone jack the audio would crackle. Not as good as they once were.

My E10s are still going strong after 4 years. They are VERY picky with the ear buds themselves and can sound awful if you don't get a good fit. When they fit properly (and not everyone can achieve this) they sound excellent on my Sony Z5 (and also on my previous HTC M8) Supremely detailed and capable of prodigious amounts of Bass (on the Z5 using Poweramp No need to spend more, but far better than anything at this price point

Still good but only mid button will work. The only way to get Volume+/- to work is hardware-mod.

Any audiophiles out there can compare these with Xiaomi Hybrids? Hybrids are like £13 from grey market online but people saying after burn in they sound like 10x the price.

I have these and not impressed as they crackle with my handset (Z3-compact). Other earphones work fine it's just the combo of these and my phone.

E10 is not a good choice. Sound ok, not good quality, easily broken. I had high hope in it because it is popular, and bought one over Christmas. Really disappointed with its over quality, returned straight away. I prefer sony ex650, build quality, sound quality all better.

Hot - the non s models are usually this price, with the S models being almost a tenner more.

Good sturdy headphones, great audio quality and well worth the price!

I've had a pair for several years - long enough that I can't remember how long I've had them. I certainly paid much more than this at the time, so they're definitely worth the price.

foam tips are the best for sound isolation. amazing value for money for these earphones.

I love these earphones. Owned a pair for the last 2 years and have bought these as a backup. I was asking about the price of the foam tips compared to the standard ones, do they help with isolation?

You sure you had the right sized ear fitting. These only work if you get a tight fit. Most people don't know how important this is.

Just returned the newer version E10S, crap. Got em after reading similar reviews to the above praising them & they had won awards. God knows why. Would be fine for a tenner like the e10 here but waste of my £40.

I have the e10's as per hass123. great earphones for the price in my opinion. can't comment on these ones though.

Had 2 pairs of these and both had shocking build quality, broke within a couple of months. Yes good sound but I would advise to stay clear.

Recommend the E10's, fantastic earphones and built to last. Previously had sennheiser cx300's but they're unreliable (sound brilliant but the wire to earbuds connection is very flimsy)

Xiaomi Pistrons 3.0 is out, and improved.

Same experience. The jack lasted about 2 weeks before the rubber snapped and the metal sheath fell off. Sound good though and mine are still working a year and a half later despite those defects.

Yep, didn't occur to me at the time. Will keep this in mind in future.

If you want a good balance of durability and sound quality check out Betron ysm1000 earphones.. Probably about the only pair of earphones I'm not scared of breaking when using on a daily basis. High durable and sound great.
