You do realise I am the OP? I know these are great earphones. The point is simply that they will underperform on some USB-C devices. If you have a better onboard DAC then buy the E11C's and a dongle, they will sound better.

ImAlanPartridge

Why? Why complicate things? They are a great pair of headphones for the price, I bought them a few weeks ago and you're the first person I've seen try and make an issue of the DAC. They will work fine with any phone with a USB-C port. Done.

SkilledNutter

That is true but as this DAC will override any onboard, the phone\device may have a better driver so I would then opt for USB-C earphones without a DAC. The Samsung Galaxy S8 is a terrible driver and thus, needs a DAC.

Ruffuz

or lacks 3.5mm input. Hot!

SkilledNutter

Worth noting that you should only buy these if your Phone\Device does not have a suitable DAC built in already.

Almost bought them but seen the reviews are from 2015. I can't see the Bluetooth connection being that great.

I remember about 12 years ago when I first discovered sound magic - was blown away with the quality for the (then) price. Still great kit but not quite the bargain it used to be.

I have the BT version and the E80 and they were pretty good. They were my daily use until I got a pair of B&O H3 for cheap.

I snipped that wording from the Web (as I was still in bed and too lazy to go downstairs!) but glad you found it and it's working!

iLoveDeals101

Thanks found it in “Devices” -> “Audio Devices”. Works now. 😁

PMM183

In the PS settings select [Sound and Screen] > [Audio Output Settings] > [Output to Headphones]. The default setting is [Chat Audio] so you'll need to change it to [All Audio]. Hopefully this should do the trick (y)

thanks for the info. i prefer a neutral sound, not a fan of booming bass. i want to use with my android and iphone mainly. i didn't think the E10 was that bassy, but it all depended on the tips and how far in your ear you had them. i used cheap comply copies (better than the supplied tips) with the E10's and been using them a while after getting them in a deal, so was thinking an upgrade might solve the issue, plus better sound and i have the old E10's as a spare/backup. i had CX400's at one point, and had some sony IEM's after that but they got damaged and i tried the E10's thing is, if the remote isn't going to work, i may as well get the model without it, but as it's only £7.50 difference it's sometimes worth getting just in case

TopTrump

E10 is all about bass. E50 claims to be more about sound neutrality (uses Japanese Oxygen Free Copper wiring). E80 apparently best of both E10 & E50 (Japanese OFC wiring). E11 - a more refined version of the E10 (I think uses silver plated wiring to offer a lift to the treble). In the end I went with the E50C. Crisp, detailed mids, you can hear the various layers in the mix, and bass isn't boomy, there's enough, but not for bass aficionados. Mellowed out at the treble extremities once they've been run in. What are you going to be plugging these into? These headphones are slightly higher impedance than your average high street earphones. My E50's sound ok on my OnePlus using Blackplayer media player using the EQ, bass boost and a little tweaking of the amplifier level. Now all set to default since I got a portable amp to drive the E50C which now sound even better with. Re the question on volume control/remote control, I seem to recall that their rethink of the electronics on the C version, should allow the headphones to detect your phone. Previously they had an A/B switch on the cable to make the remote work. Hifiheadphones website has a web-chat where you could ask the question. I had a pair of OnePlus Bullets V2 (which I thought had good midrange), OnePlus Bullets Wireless, Sennheiser’s CX300S & CX400's - the E50C's outperform all of them with a much more refined approach to music. If you want dollops of bass, then maybe a pair of SoundMagic's E10 or E11 might be for you.

uni

are these worth upgrading from the E10C's - i notice the volume control doesn't work on my new cheapo android phone but it worked on my iphone. minor niggle but as the new phone is primarily as a music player it would be handy if the remote worked. not an android expert, just getting used to it but couldn't find any settings and the music app mentioned something about android not always sending the signal to the app to work

skullbugz_joe

Bought some a while a go from Amazon.. having read reviews on what hifi.. I was naffed at the sound quality when received.. am wondering if they weren't realistic fakes from China??

I got the E10s for like £19 when they got posted at start of November too.... They are really good for under £20 to be sure, but I got some Betron BS10's for £7odds on a lightning deal (normal price £11.99) a few weeks ago and I'd rate them as highly (with a similar sound signature) so the Soundmagic's weren't the upgrade I thought they'd be.... still happy to keep them though as can't have enough spares ;)

reubenno

My E80s have lasted 4 years of abuse.

iaah05

Owned a pair of E10 earphones in the past and was very impressed, especially for the price. Unfortunately I lost them so decided to replace with E50 - I was less than impressed and wished had stuck with E10!

We consume the goods, the production and pollution takes place in China, India, Brazil, we export our problems, we’re the driver, because we exported our Industry to make profit, pretending we’re morally superior, and avoiding any regulation. Buying UK goods which are highly regulated, we’d cut the hidden exported pollution massively. Also. I agree China’s managed capitalism out smarted free market nonsense we have, a good few years ago. Makes me laugh people buying Chinese goods and thinking they’re making “difference”. The Chinese find us hilarious. Great deal though 🔥🔥🔥

After losing 2 pairs of sony mdr-ex650ap on holiday i thought I'd try these. Excellent sound, very similar to them with a little more volume. Can't believe the sound for this price, bargain!

beem

I have to be honest, I wouldn't recommend Betron B750s. I bought a pair two years ago and within 12 months the left earbud stopped working (the wire connection within the bud broke, prob due to poor solder). I sent them back under warranty and got a replacement but those broke in exactly the same way and in less time - despite handling them like an egg. Now they've been around for a while you can read the AMZ reviews - many others experiencing the exact same quality issue. I've lost faith with Betron so won't bother sending them back again just to rinse and repeat. I'm now looking elsewhere.

KelvinPritchardSmith

Just read a review on what hifi and the E11D apparently aren't as good as the ones without the DAC....

Marky67

Can anyone tell me if the the SOUNDMAGIC E11D will be a big step up from the 10's with there built in DAC?

Feel_My_Noobies

It's not much of an additional saving but SAVE5 knocks another quid off the price taking it down to 18.53. Throwing in my two pennies on a couple of the comments above, sound on these is great, no doubt. Personally I've managed to destroy a couple of pairs in the past - but then I've done the same to Sony and much, much more expensive Shure ones (normally my own fault). I'd personally say the quality is on par with many in ears.

In the box of E50C's that I ordered, is a sealed packet that contains two Comply tips that also says: T (but also looks like an arrow pointing upwards or an open parasol) followed by - 400 BLK MED 16006 COMPLY TM Premium Isolation Tips Super Soft T Memory Foam

allginger

Which comply tips, guys?

TopTrump

So it sounds like buying the E50C's was the right choice. Comfortable, choice of tips plus a set of Comply's. Bass has nice attack, mid needs a tiny boost but detailed and spacious, treble crisp without overdoing it. For £31.34 I'm impressed.

Keith_Moon

Mine arrived they sound amazing, got some comply tips now sound on another level. The sound for a £40 pair of headphones is incredible.

Have these, build quality is good, sound lacks bass, but the most annoying thing is the weight of these, so heavy and uncomfortable. Also, the controls are flaky on IOS

I've really started focusing on EQ and room corrections to improve the experience. It's so difficult to find the right headphones etc. There's much more choice on Windows like MathAudio, Sonarworks, REW, HeSuVi. Not really helpful if you're against that sort of thing but definitely worth a browse.

gkeele

So i tried out a pair of E11BTs last night and even with the lower impedence I found them more than a little thin on the bass side (Oneplus phone so the DAC isn't up to much). I'm not buying an external amp and the bass always been my bugbear with the E10s too, so I think I'm going to shop elsewhere this time.

Got my e80s today and they are absolutely stunning in my opinion. Huge step up from anything I've experienced for in ear buds. The sound quality is not far off my insanely good pioneer hdg 1500 over ear headphones I use to dj. Well chuffed! Best 35 quid I've spent in a while.

My E10s came with a scratch panel where u reveal a code which can be checked on the website to show genuine product also. I got scammed with some sennheiser cx300 a number of years ago which put me off spending more on headphones. Thought my E10s sounded really good, although I was just moving up from some £10 Beetron headphones, trying a pair of the £35 E80s now!

stressedman

Were you getting the seal right when you put them in? I had replacement buds for some in ears and the rubber was not as thin and soft as the original brand so didn't seal right with my funny shaped ear canals.

Or maybe someone has a different opinion.
