SoundMAGIC Vento P55 Closed Back Headphones with Replaceable Cable and Mic Amazon price £176.22 have good reviews.

Received mine and the quality is amazing. Will be keeping these

My headphones arrived today I'm well pleased with the quality and sound :D

I would like to hear what you think of the p55 when you have listened to them I am waiting to compare with my Grado 325's which are an amazing sound but not very comfortable.

I don't have a lot of experience in this field (£60 on these P55s took a while to justify) but my take on the difference between the E10 & E50 is not worth it if you already have one or the other. I don't like the descriptions of sound like 'openness' 'tight' 'muddy' but they serve a purpose when experienced. E50 are a bit more natural and open and I think I do prefer them over the E10. It's hard to double blind them as they have a different barrel so inserting them will give away which model it is... Even with help setting up the kit, the other person will be unlikely to get them in your ear correctly. Saying that I might at least try with the missus at some point. TLDR: if you have the E10 wait until you need to replace them and try the E50 then. If you have neither for an extra tenner or so on average I'd go for the E50. If the E10 is under £20 get them.

How are e50 vs e10?

SoundMagic were good value but increasingly less so. The price of becoming more mainstream. I wouldn't pay this price for this model, Sony makes better at this price level. Comparison to an open back Senn 500x series is irrelevant.

User reviews can be very subjective, so independent reviews are better I feel. Another review here: "Music genres good for and why: TheSoundMAGIC Vento P55 excels at dance music, funk and Hip Hop, while its strong midrange suits genres such as classical and jazz particularly well."

Reviews are funny things. I own a set of £300 Blue Mo-Fi's which I got cheap because the person selling them did not know what they were (estate sale). They sound astonishing but What Hi Fi only gave them 2 stars out of 5. This surprised me as to me they sounded a lot better than the cans they had given 5 stars to which I also owned. I take reviews on board when I read them but it is a good idea to read a lot of them rather than just one or two to get a better overall opinion.

So, my point is to get opinions of actual users!!!

I suggest you go read a few back issues of either mag; they DONT give much, if anything, negative in their reviews for ANYTHING by a major manufacturer; it is usually piddling little things like the control button being 1mm left of where they want it to be; anything even mildly critical of sound quality is either for no names, or when sound quality is AWFUL. I came across this myself back in the 90's, a raving review for an over-priced CD player neglected to mention that on any decent, revealing speakers, you could hear nasty artefacts in the upper registers caused by the cheap ,n nasty DAC they had fitted; and even today they praise the LP12 to the roof, whereas my experiences were that even modestly priced TT could and did sound better. My then £350 Manticore with RB300 and Ortophon MC20 sounded so much better than my step fathers RP3 that he went out and spent £1000 on a LP12/Basik, and when that didnt make enough difference, another £1000 on an arm/cart upgrade, and when THAT didnt make enough difference, another £1000 on the upgrade kit. He was infuriated when my modest set up still sounded better, and then spent god knows how much on speakers and pre/power amps, easily in excess of £5000. All of this stuff got rave reviews, whereas my kit, from relatively small outfits got "good for the price", bass heavy", too much top end" etc reviews. it is lucky for him that I had to sell the Manticore (I hate the CSA), or he would be bankrupt by now.

Cant understand the cold votes, SoundMagic are a brilliant budget brand; my first experience of a set made me forget the low price tag, they completely outclassed the £130 famous name ear speakers I had been using.

Thanks will update in the description :)

I cannot vouch for this particular model, but the SoundMagic phones I have had over the years have been giant killers; the £19 pair I first got my sweaty hands on (via an electronics mall in Guangzhou, China), completely blew away the £130 pair I had been using. There is also a great story (possibly even true) behind them. It is said the company started life making knock-offs of a famous headphone brand, however it turned out the knock-offs were actually BETTER than the genuine versions; and that eventually they got the contract to make them as the genuine supplier to the famous brand name.

Soundmagic E10S colours £24.99 @ HiFi headphones with free shipping
Found 27th Aug 2016Found 27th Aug 2016
Looks like £15.00 off these headphones that get great reviews. Seems to be only colours not black, but still a great deal.

Not good build quality, do not last. Frankly, I do not even think the sound quality is that good. But some people think the sound quality is good, which is a matter of opinion.

I replaced a set of the standard E10 which had lasted a good couple of years of daily use with the E10s version which then failed at the switch after 6 months. Good sounding headphones but the cable seems to fail at the joins around the switch very quickly, the standard version doesn't have this issue which'll be why it's rarely reduced.

£25.99 on Amazon with some not so good reviews. seems the IOS/Android switch may be problematic.

So what is the difference between e10s and e10m ? both seems to have mic?

I think apple earpods don't work with android (in-line controls) but I would look out for specific android ones to be sure, I know sony do some in ears around £20 which are marketed as compatible with android. My xiaomi hybrids work with my oneplus 2.

I've had the sound magic E10 headphones for 4+ years, they are very good. I too recommend using the Comply foam earbuds. I do regard these as disposable though as they split after a while.

I think that's the case with many cheaper options, people make it sound as though they're audiophile grade, however they're more like a really good sounding pair of 50 pound earphones and not a more expensive 20 pound pair :-)

Just returned mine to Amazon. Overall i was very disappointed by the sound (maybe expected too much after reading all the reviews).

I have these and not impressed as they crackle with my handset (Z3-compact). Other earphones work fine it's just the combo of these and my phone.

E10 is not a good choice. Sound ok, not good quality, easily broken. I had high hope in it because it is popular, and bought one over Christmas. Really disappointed with its over quality, returned straight away. I prefer sony ex650, build quality, sound quality all better.

Hot - the non s models are usually this price, with the S models being almost a tenner more.

Xiaomi Pistrons 3.0 is out, and improved.

Same experience. The jack lasted about 2 weeks before the rubber snapped and the metal sheath fell off. Sound good though and mine are still working a year and a half later despite those defects.

Yep, didn't occur to me at the time. Will keep this in mind in future.

If you want a good balance of durability and sound quality check out Betron ysm1000 earphones.. Probably about the only pair of earphones I'm not scared of breaking when using on a daily basis. High durable and sound great.

What, out of each side?

Good sounding earphones, however build quality isn't the best, had 2 pairs both had one side stop working. but had a years use out of each one.

These are amazing earphones for the money. Using them right now, streaming flac quality music from tidal and they sound sublime. But as above, new is only a few pounds more so I feel they are charging too much for refurbished.

I also don't have any issue with quality of these 'Used - Like New' earphones.

mmm, I received my "used - like new" earphones this morning... like others have experienced, no sticker or code on the box... they do sound pretty good though so I'll probably keep them.

thanks for the update naughtymonk. will be returning both pairs i bought, already refunded for one of then anyway. Looks like i won't find out what is really up with the earphones bought, but i will be more careful when buying in future on the amazon marketplace.

I've only just had time to compare the ones I received previously (used - like new) and the replacement (direct from Amazon). There's no comparison really the replacement earphones sound much much better, tested with the same tips. The replacement earphones also don't show SoundMAGIC where the left / right wires meet so you can ignore that, the box however did have all the appropriate stickers. Obviously I'm returning the first item.

I got my e10's tody - i scratched off the panel and put the code in on the genuine webite and they are real - no serial , no good!

I brought a pair of these for £10 from richer sounds while i waited for them to order my Beyerdynamic DX160iE's in.

Mine arrived last week and I can confirm they are genuine. Well, at least they appear to be genuine, very nicely packaged and sound decent - On the box there is a little scratch-off patch where you can reveal the 18 digit authenticity code. You can enter this code on the SoundMAGIC site for validation.

I suggest getting them from either or, or if you just want regular e10s,

Where would you recommend us to buy it from?

It seems that I could only get my E10M replaced within 3 months and now they're only offering me a partial refund of £12 on a £37 purchase. So £31 is a great price, but I wouldn't recommend purchasing from Hangsun. The straight jack connector on the E10 and E10M sticks out so far that the cable is prone to damage in pockets etc, so I can't see them lasting for most people. I've bought the E10S (with a one button remote and, more importantly, a right angle jack connector) for £44 elsewhere, as at least now I have some confidence in the warranty.

I emailed and asked them yesterday today I got a reply which says it's a year

Shame the right earbud tends to fail after 6 months, otherwise I'd get another pair.

Excellent headphones for the money. But, as Mori said, standard price. I'd pay 3p more and buy from Amazon for £26.02.

I do have a pair of these and while extremely good for the money they don't quite match this level. Plus they are uncomfortable.

Or to save over £20 the Monoprice 9927 are pretty damn good!
