Stay awqay from Lyca. Their network is in constant "upgrade" and after 2 month of using your plan they simply refuse to renew it saying bull.hits that you have no sufficient funds on your card.
This is bad Indian joke and not the mobile service.

Isn't Lyca on O2, and not EE (as per title)?
    KodaBear's avatar
They switched over to EE 2 days ago. It’s a very recent change.

Lyca customer services ae horrid. Just had to deal with them when they 'blocked' one of our sims for no reason (so no data, no outbound sms, no outbound calls), 2 (almost 3) weeks of daily calls (where they fob you off), daily live chats where they will after a few minutes give you a 'theres a connectivity issue' and bump you off the chat, asking for emails which go to one 'inbox' apparently that they don't respond to.

Just look at their Trustpilot, but ignore the 1 'review' folks with indian sounding names, who give great reviews, who most probably work for Lyca. Rarely, has I encountered a firm so naff.

If you decide to take the risk, make sure you are in control of the money that goes to them, otherwise they have a bad habit of billing you once you leave.

really hope lebara offer 6 months again soon on the larger data deals (edited)

Lebara have seemingly stopped playing the game with Lyca now. I don’t think we’ll ever see the race to 1p again or the cheaper big data ones.

They do still have offers. But they’re mostly either 3 months only, or 6 months but with a less significant discount or hurdles of claiming cashback/gift cards instead.

I took out the unlimited data plan on the £10 3 months offer (Then goes to £30). Absolutely awful. With o2 I get about 30-40mb/s 4g speed but with Lyca I got 6-7mb/s but worse after tethering to our TV in our caravan and using about 9-10gb of data the speed dropped to 0.01mb/s.... It was only for my second sim as EE gets no signal at our seasonal caravan pitch, I've now gone with smarty at £16 a month for unlimited (quidco 12 months offer) and I'm getting faster speeds with no limits.

Worse is when I try to register my lyca sim to cancel it I get a message saying number not recognised, I've been on chat countless times and it just says we don't have a human available right now. Utter Garbage. (edited)

Deal is good but they're not fit for purpose to offer any service. Absolutely zero service.

    Awful customer service

    AVOID

Considering the absolute dungfest people are having with trying to do such simple things as get a working PAC code from Lyca and Lebara, I don't understand how HUKD allow their deals to be posted.
I've seen retailers blacklisted for far less...

lebara is actually quite good, although they had an issue with their system this week, but that isn't unique to any company. lyca is the problem but they are cheap and as long as you don't mind using them as a hit and miss provider, they are value. some people don't seem to have an issue with them so i guess it is still fine for people looking for a cheap sim that they can use as a secondary sim or back up, or for the kids.

they send wrong sim needed a nano sim such hassle
    KodaBear's avatar
You just pop out the right size you need. The SIM Cards are all supplied as Mini SIM, which can pop out into Micro SIM, which can then be further popped out into Nano SIM.
  10. diddytitz's avatar
I have no problems with them whatsoever

Are there any good deals that also have good customer service?

I was with Lebara but they have cancelled my sim because I hadn't put any money on it for a while. No warning, no reminder text saying hey top up or you'll lose access...
    DoublePortingDad's avatar
You've got 6 months to take the number or add funds. Does not soud bad to me at all.
  15. alex_uk's avatar
Shame not available to existing customers
  16. gtd65's avatar
I've not really had any problems with the Lyca signal or network. There was a local outage the other week that affected both my Lebara and Lyca Sims over the weekend at home.
I did find their customer service was pretty hopeless by comparison to Lebara.

What's the deal with using this abroad??

Will I be able to use access all my data for free even if I'm in Germany for 6 months at a time?? I will obviously activate in UK

My phone calls are really patchy with Lyca has anyone had this problem?
    diddytitz's avatar
I haven't had tbis problem until today. I was told in advance that there would be disruption to the network as they were doinhlv maintenance today 26th june

Since I swapped to esim I cannot make any outbound calls, any had similar issue? Customer service is useless

I paid a penny a month and was disappointed. I set up direct debit but the payment didn't go through. I called up the next day and they said because payment didn't go through contract is cancelled.vAlso no service on the motorway, parks, Asda. (edited)

    1p deals???
    dabear11's avatar
    that was so 2022. Became 5p, now 45p. Rip-off ;-)
  22. nik1's avatar
Thanks OP. Managed to get 2 sim for parents at 1p last month. Bought another 2 at 45p for our european cruise. 3gb enough for 11 day trip when off the boat. Otherwise ship wifi. Will keep for 6mths as that will allow 8gb p/m sky data to rollover 🔥 (edited)

Got the esim one of these and, with a bit of Googling, installed it on my Galaxy Watch 4 albeit with a separate number to my phone. Great now to keep in touch if I forget my phone (without paying for Vodafone OneNumber etc)!
  24. harminder.singh's avatar
rang lyca to confirm plan the colleague was useless wouldn't give me her name false information on plan saying its 94p not 45p it says on my email and in bank statement i just wanted to confirm it is 45p for 6 months even when i went through link it said that it just i don't trust lyca after bad customer service staff tell you different info on phone just dont want to be charged more next month
  25. mutley1's avatar
I ordered one and the signal seems to be much better on EE than it was on O2. The plan bundle loaded without any issue and so I am going to port in to lyca. Fingers crossed but things seem to be better than when they were on O2. Thanks OP.
  26. DoublePortingDad's avatar
What is the activation time? How long could I wait from purchase to activation to get this deal? Thanks.
  27. DoublePortingDad's avatar
    I've just done Librespeed test.
    Lebara 3GB £0.05
    Upload 25.2 Mbps
    Download 53.3 Mbps
    Lyca 3+1GB £0.05
    Upload 5.25 Mbps
    Download 1.72 Mbps

Same phone, same time, same location.
Ping and jitter are better on Lebara too.
It seems that Lebara is better for me in South East London. (edited)

On a tangent, good open source speed test that. Hadn't come across it before. Thanks

wish i'd read the comments on here, just ordered some sims to arrive.... Thought it would be good now they using EE. Anyway i can cancel it and get a refund?
    dabear11's avatar
Refund for 45p? You can always try, but I'd say you are unlikely to succeed.
  29. afn's avatar
As an existing customer who’s 1p deal is soon to expire how do I go about getting this deal? Using it as a backup dual SIM so not arsed about keeping the number.
