- MyFitness Pal Premium -

So from 1st October MFP is taking away the barcode scanner for free accounts, and having more ad pop ups in the app.

However, you can now get a discounted premium membership for a year for a limited time.

I used this link:

myfitnesspal.com/premium/redeem?code=PREMIUMSCAN22

And it’ll give you a years membership for £19.99 rather than £65.

I’ve just done it now.

They’re taking away the barcode scanner? That’s literally the only feature that makes the app useful to me. The greed of these devs truly knows no bounds

Incredible isn't it. Imagine developing an application using a skill set learnt over time (maybe years) and enough business acumen to provide a product/service, and then trying to sell it so you can make a living and provide real-world, life changing results to the end user. Their gaul is staggering !!

    Cheers OP.

Shame taking away the scanner in the free version.

    Heat added

    Thanks Dan

    Yeah proper shame.

Great app and definitely works well when connected into Garmin ecosystem but putting features behind a paywall when everyone is struggling with sky-high bills is not good. I for one will not be paying

Since their takeover the app has got full of spam ads, they’re removing the scanner and put the price up within the app, but still less through website. Time to jump ship and try Lose it, their offer can be £9.99 a year and to be fair it’s much nicer UI wise (enough for me to give up me 2500 day streak)

    Cheers for this 🏽

Remember when you could buy apps? Subscriptions are a crime.

Still, £20 for the year isn’t too bad. Heat.

Why or how this went from £35 to £65 without any real main change is unbelievable a thirty pound a year increase is a joke! At £20 it’s ok but I would rather buy an app rather than this aweful subscription model…

To be fair their server cost is yearly, not one off. I think apps which rely on infrastructure and databases need to be subscription, they should just be more reasonable (£15 a year)

    Barcode scanner still working here…

Was considering getting a subscription as fed up with adverts, so great timing. A shame they're getting rid of the scanner for the paid version. Hopefully other free/cheaper apps will pop up before the 12 month discounted rate ends.

Seems you can’t add another year on for existing premium subscribers. Heat added though. Great saving.

Just want correct something. It £65 if you purchase in the app. If you subscribe in the webpage is £39.99. So you’re getting half price. The codes can’t be used in the app. Anyway I moved to lose it! App as it was £9.99 I got offered for a years subscription. Only con about the app is no micronutrients tracking but other than that it’s worth it for premium. The database is really good for UK foods. I have found everything so far and barcode work 95% of the time (even without subscription) Plus, I like that I can edit inaccurate calories or nutritional values which MyFitnessPal doesn’t allow.

Is this still working? The link takes me through showing the code has been added, but the button to "Start Enjoying Premium" won't click through after entering payment details.
    thesuitgamer's avatar
    Yes it works, try incognito.

But I bet you try lose it or a similar competitor which is always cheaper AND doesn’t pay these venture capitalists who are trying to gut the app

Just used via Chrome on mobile, nothing beats MFP food database. Glad got premium renewed (had to wait for current to expire first). Deal/code still works!
    thesuitgamer's avatar
Lose it’s database has a lot less incorrect user generated spam from experiences
