Two things... What does no band 20 mean? And I'm drunk in the pub and will possibly buy this 🤦‍♂️
    dkj255's avatar
Band 20 is a specific frequency that's not used in the USA (and I guess not in China either), but commonly used in Europe and the UK. It means that in some areas you'll get a weaker or no signal compared to EEA-specced phones.

Be aware... If you're thinking you can get this and flash an EU or Global ROM at a later date, there is some evidence online that Xiaomi is going to stop allowing bootloader unlock early next year.

Would advise you do your own research obviously, also worth noting that Hyperos is Xiaomi's own OS based on Android with Google Services built in on what seems to be some sort of virtualization level. Again, no way of confirming that but I wouldn't bank (snigger) on your banking and finance apps working without someone verifying.

Looks a lovely phone mind. Love the hardware (edited)

Recent saw some of these and Honor and Oppo phones in store, absolutely amazing quality devices if you’re willing to compromise a bit on the OS/bloatware and what your opinion is on spyware/privacy/security possibly

Been using Xiaomi for years never had issues or what bloat ? If anything its less bloat than Samsung imo (edited)

Not voting either way on this deal as it is a very good price, but a word of warning: do not buy this or any other Chinese variants of phones from Xiaomi, Oppo/OnePlus, Samsung, Motorola unless you're willing to have it bricked at some point. These manufacturers have vowed to crack down on Chinese/grey market imports like this one and will most likely brick the phones when they're detected as not being used/activated in their assigned markets.

are you able to clarify something. The words Global Version rom. Would this be 100% suitable for UK use, with banking apps and 4g/5g, google play etc?

Am i right to say a chinese rom, with google play installed may pose problems with banking apps due to a lack of security certification. along with a potential issue with the signal bands being compatible with the ones used in the UK

for example - would the phone in the link be ok. i want to avoid having to flash roms like i did on my mi 11 ultra. i just want an easy OTA updates with no issue with security with banking etc - aliexpress.com/ite…YmU

From what I have been told, the Chinese version is fine for Google pay etc. Bud

So after many hours of internet research. A breakdown on "global version" Xiaomi phones. "Chinese version" and "global version" are completely different. A phone with stock Chinese firmware Installed may have the following issues. Different bands, this may pose problems with picking up certain 4G/5G reception within the UK. Not being able to download from the Google store and not having Google certification. NOW!! HERE'S THE CONFUSING PART! companies will advertise a global rom/version. BUT! they could have flashed over the stock Chinese firmware. This gives access to the Google play store, but still lacks certain Google security certificates which may be required by certain banking apps/netflix/sky go and potentially many others..this basically means the supplier has unlocked the bootloader to flash a new firmware onto the original Chinese ROM.  On Xiaomi phones you could reflash this to an EU ROM which would have all the security required for banking/netflix etc. But this could be difficult, and comes with a warning of potentially "bricking" your device.

A stock global rom/version means that this is the original firmware installed during the manufacturing process. As well as having the addition of extra band frequencies for EU/UK. This means it may not have the difficulties with reception, unlike the Chinese global version. Google play and Google certification should also pass security. So banking app/netflix should work.

Be very careful with the wording on AliExpress/ Wandamobile etc, personally, if you're a bit of a technophobe, who doesn't want to start messing with flashing firmware, and also wants banking etc on their phone. Stay clear of Chinese based ROMs/versions.

If you do like to tweak and confident in flashing a firmware. Then there's potential money to be saved by purchasing a Chinese stocked ROM. That's after checking your network frequencies against the phones bands

Basically global rom means the seller has flashed a global rom onto the phone, global Version means means just that, installed by manufacturer, Chinese version is just original software, which you can install Google playstore onto, but is basically unusable for most in the west

This is the price it should be but bet it'll be around £1200 when it launches in UK

I bet after spending all that money, the camera is still bad as with most Xiaomi phones

    Any deals for Xiaomi 13?
    realdeals's avatar
It was reported that stocks were depleted a few weeks back, hence the early entrance of the 14 so it's unlikely we will see a deal from Xiaomi.
But never say never because they just kept finding a batch on F3 Pro's to drop on sale.

Xiaomi 13 pro in the UK at least has never reduced in price, this may reduce a bit, but not specifically for BF
  21. JustWaitingForAMate's avatar
Extremely tempted by this. Are there any limitations with using this device in the UK? Does android and security updates work fine, Google apps, android auto, atc?
    nikicallan's avatar
Someone else can confirm if still the case but banking apps won't work with the Chinese software.

I know I put this on the other post, but as of 3 months ago (when I got rid of my Mi 10) Xiaomi would not allow gesture control with 3rd party launchers, so a deal breaker for me ...

I had a Chinese rom Xiaomi Redmi last year. Banking apps worked fine, it was just Android Auto that didn't work when connected to the car. For some reason on the Chinese rom they remove AA and even if you download it from the play store it won't work as it needs to be a system app (edited)
