Someone posted this earlier and it got deleted?

Yes, was posted by me but HUKD took it off as I have to use the Aliexpress GBP conversion. Had to do a full repost as they would not edit the price due to the "large" difference from £309.28 to £328.72. Was okay tho as I'm still learning the HUKD rules but worth the repost for you all to see as I think it's a good deal (edited)

I have absolutely no reason to buy this but I've gone and done it anyway

This should be the tagline of HUKD

I bought a similar PC from aliexpress from a company named Chatreey, I ended up buying 5 more from them for the simple reason that their were no import charges, they put them through as a 'gift'. Highly recommend these Pc's.

Oh and the chatreey models are much cooler than this in my opinion. (edited)

Are you saying you bought the second 5 in one lot & they sent them in a single package?

Anyone got any thoughts on how this would compare to a Steam Deck or Ally (docked to make it comparable)? Just in terms of raw power. I get that they're two totally different propositions but I'm assuming you could stick Steam OS on this for an easy 'console' that hides behind a TV?

It's good for looking at the form factor, but it's not in any way the same internals. That one in the video has way better ram, storage and better cpu with integrated graphics 780M instead of 680M

Anyone got this? How was the experience with customs adding on extra £ etc, up to the delivery of it (edited)

I've bought other items over the £135 threshold and not been charged tax. If you buy multiple smaller priced items from the same seller and balance goes over the £135 then again you avoid the auto tax too.

Separate sellers then you get taxed.

I don't suppose we know what the wattage is on the charger we have to replace? I guess if all else fails we can use a travel converter

    I would expect it’s just a C13 lead you’ll need.

Edit, looking through photos it actually looks like a C5 (clover leaf) (edited)

When you wanna sneak your new rig past the Mrs: "it's just a cooling fan, do you really think a whole PC would be that small?".

I wonder if it is essential to reinstall windows on these mini PCs or if it is safe to leave on the pre installed version?
  13. justjamming's avatar
Tempting, but this is slower RAM (this responds well to faster DDR5 by all accounts I’ve read). The usual offers UK based are about £250 more (Beelink SER7 for example), but have 32GB of 5200 DDR5 and 1TB storage.

£250 more (589 with voucher deal), to get double the RAM and faster and double the storage and no fear of import duties and delivered tomorrow…might be enough for some. Only 1 USB 4 port on the Firebat too I believe, but not exactly a deal-breaker alone!

Yeah this is aimed at being the cheapest, tho the specs don't kill it. Its DDR5 4800 which is swappable so you can change later on once in the UK. Swap the PCIe for a high speed GEN 4 and us spare as a hard drive.

As I said on the last deal, amazing little light device and paired with a 15" portable monitor, this is an amazingly performant package that's portable and cheap for the level of performance that it offers.

I wonder if there's a way to power this using some sort of power bank to avoid having to plug into mains.

Even the 780M looks very capable - almost matches a GTX 1650 at 4800Mhz and I've heard with 5600Mhz RAM it performs about 10-20% better so that it does actually end up matching the GTX 1650 in most games which is crazy for an iGPU.

Shame they didn't include 5600Mhz RAM as it would have been nice to get that 10-20% more FPS in games. (edited)
    decrypted's avatar
It's a shame the listing doesn't allow for a config without ram to later pair with 32GB 5600mhz separately.

Beast of a little mini PC, good pairing with that APU - to get a comparable laptop to this with the same APU you'd be spending at least twice as much.
    Arc's avatar
But won't a laptop include a screen, battery and keyboard? And be in a nice neat package that you can just stow, pull out and start using?
  17. adamg64's avatar
Never heard of anything like this, i very impressed at the performance - ££ - Size. Incredible.

This would be perfect for my daughter.
Very for bringing this to my attention OP

You can get computers/PC's in lots of different sizes, or more correctly form factors. Standard desktop/tower PCs use an industry standard size format for motherboards and cases, called ATX or the slightly smaller Micro ATX. You can also get Mini itx and Small form factor (sff) PCs that are much smaller, like intels recently discontinued NUC range. They mostly tend to use the mobile processor's and memory that would normally be found in laptops.

How much would import duty , tax be in this please?
    Gort1951's avatar
Import duty, some hidden taxes like handling fees then vat.
At least £100 on top and no Warranty. Some sellers mark goods cheaper. (edited)

Noice.. I've just sold my old Ryzen APU to one of my friends and was eyeing on a 2nd hand Mac Mini M1/M2 or Asus ROG Ally as a desktop replacement. This one fits me better for my needs. Just got to decide between the Mac and this. Anyone paid in installments before on Aliexpress? Don't know how it works (edited)
  22. jammy_p's avatar
For this price, would you get better performance from a desktop pc form? Are you paying a premium for the compact size? I'm out the loop with pc stuff these days!!
    ondert's avatar
Nope, you're definitely paying quite less than equivalent PC.
  23. heman's avatar
These compact PCs are so impressive. I remember years ago when the first NUC came out, it was exciting, but could not compete with a half decent desktop for CPU performance. Now this can rival modern desktops for CPU, and older ones for GPU.

I paid in dollars and my Barclays current account is fee free, but it came to £318. I suppose they don't have as preferential a conversion rate. Who are you using?
    komi's avatar

Still a good price, I use Starling or Aqua

Just double check barclays conversion is competative and that there no charges
