Great deal with 2 'free' extras:

This was the deal for the gigabyte bundle but that jumped in price, so I've made a trigger's broom of this deal to point to the MSI deal instead!

If anyone is curious on what AMD montherboards chipsets actually mean such as B570...

    First letter
    - A is the entry level chipset
    - B is the mid-range chipset
    - X is the high end chipset

You get more USB, SATA and PCIe perfomance/lanes support the higher you go. The A's are the odd one out as they do not support overclocking. (edited)

Would anyone buying a 7800X3D typically go for this mobo...
    ProbablyBanned's avatar
As someone with a b650 and a 7800X3D it honestly doesn't make too much of a difference, as long as the VRM is good enough for the processor and it has what you need, its a great option.

Get an AM5 board and a 7600x. Pretty much same gaming perf, plus a future upgrade path instead of EOL.

    This IS an AM5 board...

Deal is fair, nothing ground breaking. I want to comment on the motherboard is fantastic! I switched from an ASUs B650 and this thing is stable as a rock!

I heard it has issues with boot up times and lots of people can't run ram at 6000mhz. Any issues for you on these fronts or all good?

Edit: I thought this deal was for the msi b650 mag lol whoops. Pls ignore (edited)

What am I missing here? This seems about the going rate... the extras are extras on that though - if you're after them!

The mobo seems to be about £175 plus circa £365 for the CPU at the moment

Triggers broom complete, now pointing to the MSI bundle id previously included in the description which seems waaay better value now!

im prolly gonna wait a few years before i jump into AM5
i fully intend to, im just not a fan of DDr5 pices- although i dont hate this price
im with AMD for the long haul, intel would need to seriously change the game for me to ever consider them again
    Davidmrb93's avatar
I mean I felt the same about a year about now DRR5 is half what it was, you can get 32GB 6000 Mhz cl30 for around £120 which isn't bad tbh

Scan are very good. Always recommend them

This with the tomahawk board is getting me twitchy… if I order it will inevitably trigger a 15% eBay code

Good deal, but beware of scan customer service, it's bloody awful.

Cant say much on the price but can definetly say the 7800x3D is an amazing upgrade. Went from i7-8700k to 7800x3D and seeing some amazing performance increases and cool temperatures on an air cooler
    Zoea's avatar
You're doing it right here Nice one, for me I am upgrading when I am certain something better has Started coming out because I'm looking forward to compounds of silicon being etched perhaps soons
  12. basergorkobal's avatar
    Decent deal.
Not the best value for gaming unless you're playing competitively or wanting to squeeze out top performance from a high end gpu.
    GOHOHO9O's avatar
So what is the best value then, lol
  13. marcosscriven's avatar
Anyone know which revision? Seems to be many.

The PCIe allocation in these boards seems to be so M.2 heavy - which seems especially odd for non-ITX boards.

Why have a massive x16 slot with only x1 connectivity, and PCIe 3.0 at that! Not even enough to run a 10gbit NIC. (edited)
    Arkz's avatar
Well it is branded a gaming board, so the focus is gonna be on one 16 lane slot and a bunch of M.2s. I do kinda find it misleading when they do 1 or 4 lane wired slots, then put the 16 lane bracket on the board. They'd probably just say it's so you can put bigger cards in and run them on 1 lane, since a 4/8/16 pcb won't fit in a 1x socket.

Had been waiting for a 7800X3D deal for a while, not super amazing deal but enough to make me pull the trigger. Will be a big upgrade from my 8600k which was bottlenecking my 7800XT pretty badly.
    ProbablyBanned's avatar
I had a 8700k and the jump to 7800x3D was a big one in many of the games I play which are CPU intensive. Have it paired with a 7800xt now and can say its a great pairing.
