The new Ryzen 7 5700X3D has just been released to retail. This seems a few quid cheaper than at Scan, etc which are around £240 here and is a few quid under the exact currency conversion.

The Ryzen 7 5800X3D is clocked around 10% higher.

Performance indications

The Ryzen 7 5700X3D scored 1,926 points in the Geekbench 6.0.1 single-core test, and 10,514 points in the multi-core test. Compared to the Ryzen 7 5800X3D in the same benchmark, the little 5700X3D is 8% slower in the single-core test and just 4% slower in the multi-core test.

The 5700X3D's performance in Geekbench 6 is very reasonable, considering the minute differences between it and the 5800X3D. Both feature virtually identical hardware configurations, consisting of eight Zen 3 CPU cores and 96MB of L3 cache thanks to AMD's 3D-VCache technology. The only actual difference the two comes down to clock speeds, the 5700X3D comes with a 3GHz base clock and 4.1GHz boost clock while the 5800X3D comes with a 3.4GHz base clock and a 4.5GHz boost frequency.

The 8500G is a different chip to the other two and cut-down a lot. It uses a mix of Zen4 and Zen4C cores and has a lower number of PCIe 4 lanes(think it is only 8 or 4 PCIe 4 lanes for a graphics card). (edited)

Just had a look at my motherboard CPU Compatability and the October 2023 BIOS - AGESA ComboAm4v2PI 1.2.0.B update supports this CPU. So if you're up to date on your BIOS updates this will work.

Gotta say, I was expecting to be 65W, same as 5700X with it being 105W & less powerful then 5800X3D & about £30 cheaper, I can't see any reason to choose it over the latter???

agreed, but 5800x3d might be discontinued, who knows

Has everyone noticed the lack of Intel FB's dissing AMD lately ?, actually lack of anything Intel lately seem to all gone back in the wood work.

only deal I seen was Intel Core i3 14100F, with the best leading tag line of "GAME WITHOUT COMPROMISE"

Ehh the last 5800X3D deal was this price. I snagged one up at 230. Also I believe the 5700X3D's L3 cache is 96MB, not 64MB. amd.com/en/…x3d

64MB 3D V-Cache. The other 32MB is the normal cache.

That's tad expensive Paid £255 for 5800x3d over year ago deal that was posted here

    I paid £229 like a month ago brand-new for 5800x3d as well!

Can this be over locked easily? Presumably is just a lower binned 5800X3D but you may get lucky with the headroom and really cut into that 400MHz gap
    Darkle's avatar
The 3D v-cache chips aren't unlocked for overclocking.

This will require a dedicated graphics card right?

Sadly not a good purchase. Lower clock and power draw mean youre better off with a 5800x3D.

This is not a good price. Its getting heat because people think its neat that it exists.
