I have the Yoga Pro 7 14 (i.e. without the X), got it in November 2023 for £630. Seems to have near identical specs to this except mine has the Ryzen 7 7735HS, 16GB DDR5 6400MHz RAM (instead of 32GB), and it has the 6GB 3050 rather than the 4GB version in this one.

Very nice all-rounder. Solid build, nice and slim, more than enough power for my needs, nice looking screen (can't expect a 4K 165Hz OLED panel at this price!), decent battery life (6-8h at ~60% brightness mixed browsing/emails/YouTube/Office stuff), very nice keyboard with enough travel to feel satisfying but reasonably quiet when typing, big responsive touchpad.

Sure, the 3050 is relatively feeble, but you can play older games and esports titles at native resolution and get very playable framerates. You can even play newer games with DLSS/FSR e.g. in Resident Evil 2 Remake at native 3K resolution and FSR set to quality I get easily 80-100fps, and with FSR set to balanced you can nudge it over 100fps. Looks fantastic. The fans do scream though under that heavy load! For the most part though, during normal loads, it's a very quiet machine.

I do have some minor nitpicks that would apply to this model. The keyboard backlight LEDs are very shallow and clearly visible under the keys, so that if you have it on your lap at a slight angle then they beam out at you which is a bit distracting. There is no fingerprint reader, only biometric is a face unlock via Windows Hello which can be hit or miss. No idea why they didn't just include a fingerprint reader, surely they only cost pennies and allow for more options. I wish there was an extra USB-C port on the right side, or at least one moved from the left to the right, just to allow plugging in from either side. Also, a touchscreen would have been a nice bonus.

Very little to criticise for the price I paid, though that was a lot less than this one!

Amazing price - I presume you got it second hand or refurbished?

That MOBILE 3050 slapped in there is as good as pissing in the wind.
This laptop is not playing any games.
    blackcoffee's avatar
Why people like you cannot understand that not every laptop is meant to play games and not everyone is interested in playing games?

Can possibly get it for £780 via student or perks at work.
    Ronan_Duffy's avatar
just ordered, £780 with perksatwork, cheers for the heads up

Great speccs, but I wonder how much of an issue thermal throttling will be. The cooling is dual fan, but otherwise looks pretty basic considering it's a H version CPU and a dedicated GPU. It would be good to see how this laptop performs in a benchmark under full stress. I have a feeling we will get lower performance due to thermals.

It's an HS version, 35W default TDP

My new laptop arrived yesterday. I had a short time to use it last night and I was happy with it. I've had a lot more time today and it's been great until.... after leaving it powered off but charging for a while, I'm now finding that it won't boot.
The charging light comes on when you plug in the charger, but otherwise it is dead.

I'm relieved at least that this has happened so early as I can simply return it and get a refund. I don't want another Lenovo.
    itsjustme's avatar
Try pressing and holding the power button for around 20s and then pressing again.

This is a known issue, time will tell how annoying I find it but my current laptop nearly always has the battery conservation option turned on and therefore never reaches 100% battery so it probably won't bother me.
  6. basergorkobal's avatar
Every single time a laptop that's not intended for gaming is being slagged off for performing poorly in games.
Truth is, it's a powerful media laptop in a compact premium chassis.
The rtx 3050 card is not going to impress hardcore gamers but for casual gaming in 1080p on medium to low settings it will do the job.
  7. face-crab's avatar
So many GPU evangelists. The 3050 is still several times faster than integrated options and there are plenty laptops at this spec and price but with iGPU instead.
  8. Benny5's avatar
Is it really a £1400 unit in the first place?
    Kosmonaut's avatar
    Even £800 is a stretch
This laptop is not very capable for gaming, or is as much as capable as a 10 years old PC. (edited)

Thanks to the OP for this deal. After thinking about it for a day and a half I've gone for it.
    Topcashback tracked at £24.64

Has anyone ordered this and received it? I’d be very interested to hear thoughts on build quality etc..

Bought at £799 around November and hopefully returning it tomorrow for a full refund. Mine had a fault where after it was fully charged it would not turn on again, it was sent back to be repaired, with parts replaced by lenovo and then returned back to me but same issue exists as I have just found out tonight after fully charging again. Don't think I would purchase another product from lenovo after this, I just hope I will get a full refund from them after talking to them tomorrow

Nice find. Not often you get a graphic card in such a portable package. You can probably get something more chunky with better performance
  12. MrSnowMan's avatar
When you go to the checkout there is a message saying that the code SPENDANDSAVE gets you £15 off because you're spending > £750, but when you try it you're told "code not applicable"!
    SteamerDecker's avatar
Yeah the codes are a load of poo. If you get a quote from a salesman they’ll likely take 10% or 15% off though.

I've got a 16gb i7 version of this and paid a similar price but and happy with it; if I had the chance I'd jump at this as an alternative now!
  15. gunner5704's avatar
How long normally it takes to get it delivered from Lenovo?
  16. itsjustme's avatar
I finally bit - found have price warranty upgrades through the Education store. Given it's Lenovo I think £77 for 3 years on-site repairs are worth it! (edited)
    FionnMac's avatar
Hi, can you link please? I googled Edubcation, may be typo idk. Half price warranty upgrades you bought?
  17. HPMan's avatar
I've been umming and arrring about buying this for the last few days, the spec and price are appealing to me but the brand not so much.

I'd prefer HP or Dell but I'm sure their spec equivalent would be 4 figures.

With these reported issues I'll guess I'll pass.

For those with the laptop, did you update all drivers and firmware? That's what support would/will ask when you try to return.
    JonnyUK's avatar
I’m the exact same. Shame about the quality issues

Fantastic price for a sleek premium laptop. I feel the 3050 is a bonus at this price.
  19. tdk2bu's avatar
Hot from me, great bit of kit, yes GPU isn't all that but overall package in my opinion is great
  20. itsjustme's avatar
I'm tempted, but would have liked to have seen some cheap warranty upgrades

New customers 10% code at checkout as well!!!
    Thesneakybob's avatar
Will that work? I have found that all discount codes fail on sale stock at Lenovo.

Anyone got any views as to whether this deal is better than this ASUS Zenbook ;argos.co.uk/pro…3:1

It’s for general use, a little gaming/video viewing-editing. Screen quality and battery life is important. The 16/512 memory is more than adequate for all my needs. (edited)
    Hosain.H's avatar
this will wipe the floor with the zenbook in gaming.
    gpu.userbenchmark.com/Com…008

but they both won't be amazing for gaming, just light use.
Better to read reviews for battery life/screen quality of both. (edited)
  27. JeanDeLaFontaine's avatar
Absolutely killer specs. Any idea of real life battery life for less demanding tasks like browsing and watching video?

Would this be able to power a 30" monitor via displayport cable? For playing multiple tables of online poker, basically. Sorry, bit of a computer noob!
