I have the earlier 10" yoga tablet which has been very good but now won't run many modern apps as Lenovo don't support it with updates. As I understand it their support for updates is extremely limited altogether (their website still talks of 4.2 as the latest android system....) I'm after a new tablet and this is an excellent price but because of this policy I'm reluctantly going to pass on this and chose a different manufacturer.

I bought a Huawei, then realised they don't allow SD cards to used as internal storage for apps. They actively removed the functionality from their operating system.

I like the screen & sound on my TAB3 Plus ... the tablet's format is excellent for table & kitchen top usages. But I find it's a bit heavy for sofa surfing.

Have the Yoga 2, 2gb 32gb. The stand design is excellent which just makes it more versitile. Has been a great device for travel & media, still going strong after a few years use. Shame the android version on it is so dated.

Good battery life and a nice video playback device. But not the most robust tablet, the earlier versions were infinitely better in terms of build quality.

Thank you guys! Went to buy this in currys yesterday but hung back until I could check HUKD and you didn’t let me down!

At the time you posted this deal, eBay had a 15% off code (£50 max discount) which was eligible on this item. It has sadly now expired.

Actually I did buy it from the eBay store - and it was still £399. How did you get it quoted as £349? Debated whether to send it back in favour of that Acer Spin 5 but the battery life on the AMD Lenovo is quoted as 8 hours whilst it's only 6 on the Intel Acer.

A Ryzen 5 would be better for games, the price might come back down again near Christmas. https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lenovo-ideapad-330s-156-amd-ryzen-5-laptop-256-gb-ssd-grey-479-currys-3111227

Wasn't this the same Lenovo 'package' (Internet Security and all), that was around about the £329.99 price tag? (all in?), on the Lenovo website though?. Posted on here x-Week's back ... The OP's Deal is good still, as I paid more for a bit less, for the same Lenovo YOGA 510 more than 1 Year ago. It can be slow at time's (but mine was only 4GB RAM though (I'm sure the 8GB RAM in the OP's one would help it out heaps regardless?. X:-)

It's not a Phone?. So Android 6.0 - 7.0 on this (for the here and now anyway), is more than sufficient, I'd have thought?. :-) As for your 10.1 inch screen comment, again, it's an Android Device, so what do you expect?. In the UK at least, Android Tablet's rarely traditionally break the 10.6 inch ratio ... If you want more than that for an Android Tablet (eg. 11.1 inches, and/or 11.6+ inches, etc?), then my best bet for you is to go wayyyyyy over to either China, and/or to the 1 of the numerous Chinese site's that also ship to hear too like? (eg. GearBest, BangGood, FocalPoint, LightInTheBox, etc etc etc?). Yep, lol. ;-)

It seems Lenovo could have done more with this idea. There's not really a current refresh of this machine, so have they abandoned the idea? I know foldable screens are just on the horizon, so it could be a redundant purchase unless you fully use the drawing to digital conversion feature. If you need a portable digital etch-a-sketch - I guess this is the machine for you. It's a funky idea, but will you use it? Could be useful for illustrations, an architect drawing out concepts, a fashion student. It's effectively a digital Carbon Copy sheet. Would you want to type on that thing for more than 10 minutes. Prod prod prod - nah, can't see that happening. Otherwise it's £300 for a tablet to watch films on. Battery life's good. The fact that QVC are selling it, could be that there's mountains of stock that they can't get rid of, and they're trying to sell to less tech aware customers.

I'd have been very tempted by that as a Linux machine, but 4GB of soldered RAM is a bit of a bummer. Much rather have 8 these days

Earlier you could upgrade laptop CPUs . Those were the days . Now due to thin and light , you cannot upgrade as all soldered even ram . But intel blocked CPUs in firmware as well with Intel Management Engine.

I have this tablet and have had it for over a year. Whilst the battery life is great its a piece of garbage. Its sluggish beyond belief even when just trying to use netflix, amazon video or even VLC. It essentially just about manages to run apps, runs out of memory very quickly and then eventually gives up. The screen isnt great either. In short youll have tons of battery life because youll be so sick of trying ot use it youll just turn it off.

True, things like video watching / streaming, drawing, web browsing etc. will be fine. Though even light gaming is pretty much impossible and I wouldn't even bother trying. Biggest issue I can see right now is 4GB of RAM. It's just about enough for what I mentioned above, but in the future it will definitely be bogged down with background applications.

Yes I myself am not sold on the 2 in 1 form factor but I suppose it's ideal for a majority of use being light recreational use.

Eeeh, not too sure about this one, I suppose if you really want a 2-in-1 this would be good

Light gaming yes, the only game I've played on it is Star Trek Online and it will play it acceptably at 1080p with just above low settings, all those games are older so I would wager they will all play better, when it's working hard you can hear the fan working but at all other times it's silent.

It's roughly £50 for one stick retail but on trade I can get it around £20 brand new. Oh yeah it's definitely worth it but there's a mental limit on how much we want to spend. From the looks of it the bezel is smaller on the 530, it's probably thinner and lighter too. I don't expect there to be much else apart from the fingerprint reader and better battery management.

You are paying for a 2 in one device rather than standard laptop. You can fold the screen back and use it as a tablet. It has a touch screen and Android can be installed on it . I installed AndY which is free and has no nags/adverts. So although you can buy a laptop with the same spec for less you cannot buy a two in one device like this for less. Although I paid less for this because I took advantage of a double promotion, this is the lowest I have seen it since then.

For this spec, anything near the £500 mark would be a good deal.

Keter shed anyone? Same price as this LOL (excited)

Interesting tablet and keyboard, but weak CPU apparently struggles with tasks beyond browsing and video playback. Bright IPS at 400 nit but not very sharp apparently. Agree on all points, and want to add probably better to also get one with pen support in my son's case.. May be a factor for other parents to consider when buying thier children a PC for university

One of the most important things when buying a laptop for a Uni student is getting one that's reasonably thin and light. Otherwise, lugging around a hulking laptop along with textbooks all day will drive him/her nuts and they probably won't tell you about it so as not to cause offence! The other 2 things worth looking about for are: - good battery life (desks in libraries, lecture halls aren't necessarily adjacent to power sockets and you can't realistically leave a laptop unattended whilst charging). - a decent keyboard (for obvious reasons!) I'd give this Lenovo a big swerve if you're looking for a laptop for a student.

Thanks for the suggestion, though I'm looking for 15.6 screen ideally. I don't need it till new job in a month or so, I'm just keeping an eye out atm (prime day was annoyingly bad)

Hi, this any good? I think it's perfect for uni. Long battery life and quality IPS display with touch function. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Acer-Spin-5-13-3-Inch-Intel-i3-2GHz-4GB-128GB-Windows-Laptop-Black-/332562572122

Lets just agree to disagree. I have DDR3 in my main PC which I use for gaming still. Yes it is sufficient. However I bought my RAM 4-5 years ago. If I was buying a new laptop now for around £400 I would expect to get DDR4 RAM. An I3 with 4GB RAM and a 500GB normal hdd (not sshd) would be sufficient for what most people will use this laptop for. However the point still stands that it is around £400 and therefore one should expect budget-mid range specs but still the latest generation. 7think7 did not say the technology was useless, that was your own judgement. I agree with them that for this price you should expect DDR4 that is all. Don't be so quick to criticise perfectly valid comments.

You are full of rubbish and negativity. I recently bought the Yoga 920 after using I have the Yoga 700 for 3 years with a 6500u processor which is pretty much half the performance of the 8250u. The Yoga 700 is very very decent and battery life is still very good. There is a price premium on the touch screen and fold able mode. The tablet mode would be useful for presentations etc, don't use it much, but the touchscreen is a feature I don't want to live without anymore it's simply brilliant and takes so much strain away from your hands. It is a mid level premium laptop and doesn't suffer half of what you accuse it off.

I bought mine last blackfriday, I did not have any of the problems you are reporting. wifi drops if tou connect a all metal usb to the right port, but that is a common problem on ultrabooks. i had no issues with colour or hinges, but my panel is lg (LGD04BF) Thunderbolt works great connected to a HPomen accelerator

Not sure, I don't think so, but then I probably wouldn't notice. Have you thought about looking at one in Currys or John Lewis if you think yours isn't right.

Does the LG panel have a warm/yellow tint?

Sorry for the delay. I am now on my third laptop. Was happy with second but after a few days the screen backlight started flickering/flashing like crazy. Was definitely hardware rather than driver as it was doing it on the bios screen also. 2nd and 3rd both LG panels, no idea on the first one. Fingers crossed for this one as it's a nice bit of kit.
