    Hot: If it expires post-April
    Cold: If it expires pre-April

No one should take a new contract out now UNLESS it is exempt from the April price rise. Better to wait till then and effectively only have to pay 1 mon of an increase, rather than 9-11 months worth..

Actually, you can take this deal (if it's cheaper for you) and then do the same in April if there's a better deal that comes along. I "upgrade" 4 or so times a year to get Audible added to my account. Upgrade in April (to cancel the price increase) then again every 2-3 months depending on the deal.

no TCB if you're already an o2 customer and extending/upgrading your SIMO deal
    crazy_b's avatar
You still get it they don’t check, I changed 4 sims 3 times each this year, got paid out all of them. You are only supposed to be able to claim once every 18 months
  3. Kingydaman's avatar
How do you do this if you're out of contract, but already with O2 ? Thanks
    a666andy's avatar
Follow the links to purchase this deal, part way through O2 will ask you to sign up or sign in, simply sign in with your existing account and it will go through fine

Just joined them, really poor network. Wouldn't recommend. Coverage is poor everywhere I go.
    KevinMcComps's avatar
They have invested the least of all 4 networks by a big margin. Possibly to protect their Virgin Media assets.

I can't wait to get rid of both of them in a few months.

Thanks OP, just doubled my data with Volt deal (was 30Gb now 64Gb) and knocked £3 a month off my existing contract. Much appreciated. Contract says price will hold till April 2025. (edited)

Make sure you get an O2 pay as you go first in your area. The data speeds on O2 are dire. If you watch YouTube for me was terrible. Now in voxi no issues and good speeds and coverage.

I have to say I have just left O2, I was with Virgin for 20+ years before they switched from EE to the O2 network and transferred my account, in the 18 months I was with O2 they were by far the worst company I have ever had the displeasure to deal with, the app stopped working, the website didn't work, the live chat was worse than useless and just kept sending me around in circles, customer service were appalling, eve the local O2 shop was no use until I refused to leave until they sorted out my issues, I switched a couple of weeks ago now and they are still calling me to ask for opinions (something I couldn't get when I was with them) when I tell them how rubbish they were they just put the phone down. the coverage was terrible the data was hit and miss and I had trouble getting a signal that wouldn't drop out and disconnect me during a call. I am now with ID SIM only 50gb - 5G unlimited everything else for £8, I was paying O2 £21 for the same. My advice is avoid O2 (edited)
    KevinMcComps's avatar
I'm sort of hoping O2 and Virgin really mess things up even more and go bust, to be replaced by a business that is better.

Their parent company Liberty Global is the pits of the comms industry. (edited)

Advising people to 'Stay away from O2' as a blanket statement is not good advice. Each network has better coverage in different areas. I had previously had '3' and it was terrible in my area, and O2 worked well.

As for this offer, all the details I have been sent tell me that the price will update at the end of March 2025, so if O2 tries anything crafty, I have printed all this information.
    Jonwillis's avatar
I have EE and O2. In the areas I visit O2 is ok to poor. But there are still places where one provider gets signal and the other doesn't.

End of the day, depends on your wanted speed and locations you plan to use it.

The merge with VM has however massively dropped it's quality in their focus for more customers. They don't feel like a major network as they used to. (edited)
  9. arbortheus's avatar
Avoid - the network is unusably slow. O2’s 5G is infinitely worse than Plusnet (EE’s) 4G.

The data works way better abroad when roaming than while at home, which says a lot as they normally throttle roaming... That’s basically the only advantage of O2 at this point. (edited)
    KevinMcComps's avatar
The UK really is at the back of the line with mobile telecoms.

Most other countries I've been to are a good few years ahead with real 5G.

Anyone know if existing customers still get Disney plus on this deal? I'm already paying £8/month so no point switching if not.
    Roygroyg's avatar
Doesn’t appear to be on the £8 deals anymore for new or existing customers.

Didn’t take it all the way to checkout but it definitely wasn’t showing as an option whereas the £10/month level does have advertised and you could see as a selection with Amazon prime or Disney prior to checkout. (edited)
  11. ConnorA's avatar
There’s an option in o2 app directly to get 20gb (40gb volt) plus Disney for £8. Handy if you want the free perk and don’t need the full 32gb here with this deal. Says new line only but I was able to upgrade existing sim and get the Disney perk.

From April 2024, the monthly price of your mobile plan will be increasing. We’re letting you know now so you can plan ahead and be prepared.

If you joined us from 8 February 2024, your price increase will be from April 2025.

This year’s RPI was published on 14 February 2024 and is 4.9%.
  13. crarcher's avatar
Monthly price of your Airtime Plan will increase each April from April 2025 by the Retail Price Index rate of inflation announced in February each year plus 3.9%. If RPI is negative, we'll only apply the 3.9%. See o2.co.uk/prices.

Suggests this will be good through until next Aprils price rises?
    reanna's avatar
52246673-gtD3r.jpgThat might be a mistake because I took out the plan and it mentions this in my account

Poor as I got 80GB with Volt for £8pm
    KevinMcComps's avatar
Ha ha. Some people think they've got a bargain even when they get something they can't use.
  15. N1Andy's avatar
Thanks - just commenting so that I can come back later
    JoSidfrey's avatar
If you were a month early would got 40 gb same price
  16. sibeer's avatar
Obviously networks vary depending on location, but moving back to O2 after a few years of EE and Three it seems to be really over subscribed. Many places I have used it I have 3 4G bars or better and it is like I am on 2G or worse. This has been mainly across Wirral, Liverpool and Southport directions. The customer service is also non-existent. The “chat” function requires you to install their app and then you message and they just never reply.

Can’t wait until the end of my 12 months and am getting close to paying to end it as it is slow. (edited)

Got sucked in with the Disney Plus free months deal and free Greggs. Can’t seem to get a free coffee or bacon butty to save my life these days either
  17. DiscoDave57's avatar
On O2 in Newcastle and coverage been OK and enjoying free coffee at greggs or sausage/Bacon sandwich or sausage roll on Friday or Saturday (only one per week)
    nrgk7's avatar
Can you make calls or got it just for sausages?
  18. Hammer4321's avatar
Shocking network and awful company to deal with.

Why would anyone buy O2 they are rubbish. It can't run a bath . (edited)
  21. RussW's avatar
Thanks - managed to upgrade my plan. Had an unlimited plan for £32 a month but never used much data. So this for £8 a month is much better for me.
  22. tinfoilhat's avatar
I have read through it twice and I just want to know if it's 32gb total or every month for just £8? seems too good to be true
    sossidge's avatar
    definitely 32GB each month
  23. paul.godefroy's avatar
I have o2 and Vodafone and find both extremely slow, however o2 has got noticeably slower over the past 12-18 months, especially since merging with Vigin Media. The Greggs codes are always unavailable now too so won't pay more than £4 a month for an o2 . Deals with tons of data like this to attract more customers on an already overloaded system don't help at all!
  24. chqshaitan's avatar
Thanks op, saved me the up and coming price rise in a couple of months.
  25. dpreey1's avatar
Anyone found a unlimited data deal with O2 im with three at the minute and they have slowed the 5g speeds down its not worth having it any more
    KevinMcComps's avatar
They don't have any 'real' 5G speeds. Their core network is still only 4G.

If you want to experience real standalone 5G you need to go to mainland Europe or Ireland.

My Eir unlimited sim 5G speeds are way faster than any of my inferior UK sims. (edited)
  26. narcyx's avatar
No 5G available in my area
    Check yours
  27. bo9dster007's avatar
How do u go thru tcb and get the £8 price?
    123shop's avatar
I think you go through uSwitch from topcashback
  28. obvious's avatar
No Amazon on this unless I'm mistaken?
  29. KevinMcComps's avatar
Interesting how O2 (and others) are still claiming 5G data. Their cell sites might be 5G kit, but the core network is still an over subscribed 4G mess.

Only Vodafone have proper standalone 5G in limited areas of the UK afaik.
    sdduk's avatar
Afaik Three have the most 5G that's why Vodafone are trying to join with them which is going though now
its all depends whether the government let them because three are owned by China company and they are worried about spying stuff

    Does this price include VAT?

Trust pilot reviews 👀 and a credit check for £8 a month. Unfortunately it’s a no from me
  32. BarryChocolate's avatar
Thanks for this, my Virgin media volt deal ran out this month. When I took out another contract for TV and broadband I was left with a £30 a month O2 SIM deal to get changed as well. This has saved me the hassle and keeps the volt part meaning 1 gig broadband.
  33. overide's avatar
O2 customer for two years with four sims but can only do two on this deal. I presume it's the credit check, the same issue I had when I took them out originally, I had to wait a month before doing the next two. No idea why they do this.
  34. Harto1's avatar
O2 website says RPI index wont happen until 2025 but the contract they sent me through says it will happen in April 2024. Asking O2 to clarify. Hot deal though
    PortmanRoad's avatar
Would be interested to know what they say.
  35. lestamunda's avatar
Thanks OP - spot on. Upgraded wifes contract
  36. djBilly's avatar
I tend to 'upgrade' my sim-only contract with O2 a few times a year via Uswitch as it usually means I get the same/similar data, at the same or a cheaper price per month, with some Disney+ thrown in.

This deal doesn't seem to come with the usual 3 months of Disney+ free now. I wonder if they've decided to remove that from these Uswitch deals now?

TBF I've had a good run, as I've never had to pay for Disney+ since it began, with just the odd break in having it.
    KevinMcComps's avatar
I did the same. Luckily I've I did the same. Luckily I've done my final upgrade which ends in June.

Then I'll stick the O2 number on a Three PAYG sim I already use, just to hold on to a UK number.

I'm moving to the south of Ireland and already have my monthly contract with Eir up and running.

I will not miss the slow data speeds on the UK networks. (edited)

I was thinking of applying for a third, but more likely would be rejected. I wish they would have mentioned what is a max limit per account.
