I got 2 of the ac1900 the other day for £55. Previously I was using TP-link homeplugs, one connected direct to my router upstairs and one downstairs which acted as a wireless repeater for laptop/tablet/tv etc

TP links gave varying speeds, even if I connected to the wireless repeater with an ethernet cable.

These things just work. Plugged one into my router via ethernet, powered it up, loaded the app and it was setup in minutes. Second one was sorted just as quick. Then went into my router and turned off wireless, before going into the app and changing the ssid to match the old one so I didn't have to try and remember which smart device works with which app all over again.

No more drop outs and full internet speed every time ive done a speed test so far. No buffering either and didn't have to mess around with my pi-hole setup whatsoever.

I've been a fan of hardwired connections and Homeplugs for years but now I feel foolish.

I have a standard 3 bed semi, router and main halo are in the 'box room' upstairs at the front and the other one is in the room most people would call a dining room downstairs and the rear of the house and the 2 I got is plenty. (edited)

Are you using the 2.4 or 5 band? What kind of speeds do you get? Average or max.
    Thanks

So how do these work ? Do you turn WiFi on router off. Then connect mesh base to router by ethernet then position other two mesh devices around house to get full coverage and all your devices now changed nne t to the WiFi mesh network ?

I'm with virgin with a gigabyte connection so would prefer need 100/1000 GB so as not to lose lots of speed (edited)

Hey - just before you buy these - and it's not stated anywhere on the description but these will NOT provide you fast speeds. They are throttled. I found out the hard way and had to buy the one up: amazon.co.uk/Mer…YJ1 (AC1900)

Here is a review to read before purchasing: amazon.co.uk/gp/…YND - this is where I learnt about it. I do NOT recommend it unless you are happy with max 80Mb speed at the nearest and 30Mb at the furthest extender.

These are absolutely fantastic bits of kit. I had no end of issues when first switching to fibre (despite having a so called £200 router).

Bought these and they've been amazing! I haven't had a single issue in the 12 months I've had them.

All controllable via an app, plenty of options available and the 'optimise network' feature is brill at finding a channel with low traffic.

The main complaint I see is that it doesn't have a web interface via IP, I work in IT and I can honestly say the app provided all but removes the need for it.

At 55 for 3, it's an absolute bargain.

Do all 3 units have ethernet ports?

Decent mesh set at this price - I paid £63 in July 2022 for my partners house.

Works better with powerline network adapters to connect unit together

I had these to replace my BT Home Hub Discs, but sent them back. Performance was fine, but my biggest issue with them was the length of the power cable. BT's was much more generous with the cable length and enabled me to be a lot more flexible with placement.

If your ADSL Modem/Router works in modem only mode then switch into that mode and coonect one of these into your ethernet. Otherwise swicth your ISP modem/routers wifi and use this. In my case, I changed my mesh system's name and password same as my ISP's router (after disabling my ISP router's wifi). This made a seamless transition. Vodafone's router / moden does not have modem only therefore I switch wifi off then used mesh. By the was Vodafone's wifi is useless! Especially 2.4GHz is does not work more than few meters!

How many devices does this handle please? I have well over 70 in the house and my by mini dishes fall over constantly. (edited)

These are really quite dodgy, I returned and i've been an IT Technician for a decade.

Get a Deco mesh, slightly more expensive but will last and you won't have to screw with it.

What deco mesh would you recommend for a bit of future proofing over 100 devices but my speeds are limited to about 65 mbps. Looking for stability more than speed due to my connection limitations?
