    5G @ O2 is shocking

I have exactly the same deal signed last month only to double my Virginia media broadband
    O2 is no good (edited)

Unfortunately you will see this type of comments on almost all the network deals.
whats good for me is not for someone else - and whats so good for other is crap for me.
    Its area dependent.

Are we not expecting the annual inflation price increase soon? If we sign up to this, are we immune from it this year?
    gener4l_carnage's avatar
    Says this on the link:

Monthly price of your Airtime Plan will increase each April from April 2025 by the Retail Price Index rate of inflation announced in February each year plus 3.9%. If RPI is negative, we'll only apply the 3.9%. See o2.co.uk/prices.

Really poor network. Rubbish data speeds. Can't wait to leave. Only recently took out a SIM only deal. Don't trust there network coverage map as it's not accurate.

I have to agree, but what is really strange is it used to be decent when I was with Virgin Mobile and apparently they use the same masts

I am on their 40GB deal from Black Friday for £8, which will be impacted by the inflation adjustment soon. As I don't use that much data, I am tempted to "upgrade" to this to save some money.
    J400uk's avatar
Will they allow that mid contract? I’m in a similar boat to you

They do full credit check even when you have VM for years
    KodaBear's avatar
They now credit check existing customers doing device upgrades too. Nobody is immune to the checks at O2 anymore.

I'm guessing there's no more 3 months Disney Plus on these cheaper plans then?
    Wolfout's avatar
The 9.99 and £10 ones have the 3 months Disney but that’s the cheapest I could see.

Just be careful. These contracts are subject to 8% hike in April. I tried to get one and the contract I received as part of the process states April 2024 will have revised bill. Confirmed by online chat at O2.

Suggest you want for April before jumping on this.
    Timbrad10's avatar
Yes it does go up from April 2024 in the contract summary they send you before you proceed.
  9. gener4l_carnage's avatar
Good job it was recently then as you should be able to cancel within 14 days before you commit to porting your number over with a PAC

    No.

About to go for this deal. I also have Virgin Media so I should get the double data allowance (although 32GB will be enough).

however I am about to switch from Virgin. Does taking this SIM affect my VM contract (I am out of contract with VM). I assume I just lose the double data?

    thenks
  14. chamelion's avatar
strongly suggest looking at the newly posted lebara deal.

unless you like having horrendous data.
    Strangerthings17's avatar
Data coverage will always depend heavily on where you live and where you go so pointless saying that the data with O2 is straight bad when everyone’s experience will differ
  15. vernall's avatar
If I’m currently with o2 and choose the upgrade option, will it want to send me a new SIM? I get to the last page and it says home delivery FREE, I did choose the upgrade option and not the add another plan option. I got to that page and then stopped and thought I would check
    KodaBear's avatar
They offer to send out a new SIM but it gives instructions on doing a SIM Swap. It's optional if you actually follow these instructions when it arrives.

They simply give you the option in case your new phone has a different size of SIM Card or an old SIM that doesn't have 5G Provisioning built in.

You can upgrade without swapping your SIM if you don't want to do this. The new version of the O2 Website even lets you opt out of a replacement being posted out in the first place if you upgrade on there.
  16. iAmLegend_94's avatar
For some reason if I upgrade now, I have to pay a fee

Or, you can upgrade to a longer sim only plan at no extra cost.

Your contract ends on 03 June 2024. You can switch to a shorter sim only plan, or end your contract early, by paying £21.92.
    Strixx's avatar
A couple of people have said if you continue through the checkout pages, it should show as £0 upgrade cost, but I haven't done this myself, so I'd recommend reading the previous comments. Let me know if it works for you though?

Great for the free EU roaming and priority rewards. (£8 a month and you get 25GB roaming VS other providers at £2+ a day.) Then Gregg's like mentioned takes your monthly cost down effectively. (Use a Second sim for the data / signal issues and you have a second provider for if the O2 SIM is no signal or poor data )
    Nellym's avatar
Totally agree. The O2 Priority Greggs offers are great. What I also like is if you get Volt (have Virgin Media) they widen your roaming to countries outside the EU, including USA, Canada and Australia. Albeit every time I've used it in the US the speeds have been average.

As for coverage in the UK, it's pot luck. Where I am its fine, 5G, and no complaints.
  18. BanterKing's avatar
Is this £13 for new customers only or upgrading too?
  19. JP84's avatar
Do they still have the 100 plus GB deals for around £10?
    KodaBear's avatar
    50GB (100GB With Volt) is £12
    100GB (200GB With Volt is £15

If you're open to other networks then you can get closer to the £10 mark without Volt. ID Mobile (Three signal) will do it for £10 with the first few months half price too. Or TalkMobile (Owned by Vodafone) will do you 120GB for £11.95 (30 Day contract and no price increases with this one)

Anyone looking to upgrade and got blank pages after press “continue” ??
    Timbrad10's avatar
Wouldn’t work on mobile for me but worked on a desktop. Just be aware in the pre-sign up contract summary that the price will increase in April 2024.

    £8 deal has vanished?
    Timbrad10's avatar
Looks like it has been pulled and replaced with a 30GB at £9.99 plus the April increase.
