I fitted a similar thing for my Dad. I drilled a 3mm hole through the bottom corner of the PVC window and used these to extend the wire. I installed the cameras right next to where the window opens so if they needed moving/cleaning or maintenance you can access them from inside - didn't want him climbing ladders!

I have these. Good cameras for monitoring and alerting. Can even activate internal siren if movement detected

Had mine going over 3 years now.

They're good for quick, easy, and cheap camera options; saves having to run wires all around my house and needing a box plugged in 24/7. The app is also easy to use.

Can record 24/7 or motion activated, can record for free straight into a micro SD (max 128GB), at various resolultions up to 2k (I set mine to 1080p), and you can also buy a subscription if you want to for cloud upload.

Although, I had to get a replacement after the first winter, because there was water ingress in the SD card slot which damaged a few things. Customer service did replace it after a few photos.

Ended up putting electrical tape over the SD card slot to prevent further ingress, and going fine since. (edited)

Hi can this record 24/7 and is it free if using a micro as card? Thanks

It's a 5V cable in the other side, so a 7mm hole (I think) was wide enough where I needed one.

Don't forget to drill at a slightly upwards angle, and droploop your cable from the outside, to prevent water ingress.

Exactly this. Rubber wall grommet or just fill the hole with silicone.

Are these wired or battery powered?

    Amazon comment:
"You should note that the unit uses a transformer power lead which requires a socket (if intending to power from exisitng external lights) and not the longest cable. Otherwise great bit of kit at a great price."

It says either ethernet or Wifi so it can connect to your router wireless, but no battery, wired connection.

Bargain, just ordered. We use these at work for machine monitoring and they are really good

How are people managing the cable?, with the sockets on the end it looks like you'd have to drill a large hole through the wall to route it inside.
    corred1964's avatar
I simply go through a window, they will close with no damage to window or cable

    Both

If you have a Synology NAS you can link it to that too. Synology NAS drives come with Security Station and have a license for one or two cameras as standard.

I've recently ordered one from John Lewis, but that model number is C320WS for 39.99 but as yet not picked it up.
Can anyone help me with understanding the differences between the two, currently looking myself...

Is 3 megapixel a bit too low for reading the plates?

    Any recommendations for wireless cameras?
    amwjujo's avatar
These are wirless cameras that also come with an RJ45 connector. You can use that connector with a POE adapter(injector) and power them over ethernet.

If you are looking for battery-powered cameras:
