2024 model is £1415

yes it’s a bike for over a grand
yes you can get a supermarket fold up for £200 and yes it’s Mike Ashley’s legendary customer service
but it’s several hundred pounds less

By far the best and most robust commuter folder. Store in your car boot, take on the train, the bus or an aeroplane to do the last few miles of a journey. Store under your desk when you get to work so it doesn’t get pinched.

haters gonna hate but it’s my favorite bike

The Classic All-Steel Folding Bike. Original design refined for modern cities. The original design with the 3-part fold, handmade in our London factory since 1975.

Compact and robust–it's a seriously engineered bike that's fun to ride. Although the C Line is made to stand up to the rigours of everyday life in the city, owners have taken them on around-the-world trips, on country tours and even to the South Pole, but mainly they are used 364-days a year to improve the day-to-day (we recommend a day-off for an annual service).

You can load this 6-speed all-steel workhorse with luggage and a rack for all-weather commuting or touring, then go explore. Some owners have cycled these around the world. Most use them to improve their day-to-day.

Extended Warranty
Brompton offers an extended 7-year frame warranty, 3-year electrical system warranty on Brompton Electric C Line bikes, and a 2-year warranty on all other non-wearing parts. Simply visit the Brompton website to register with your frame number.

Fantastic bike but a premium folding bike most won't consider. It folds to a tiny size and provides decent ride quality though a steel frame and suspension block. They also last a very long time which could actually save you money in the long term. Many people have toured with them without problems so they can hop on public transport in various countries as well as cycle. I just think they are amazing bicycles. Sadly I'm too heavy to own one but a great option for many.

Unfortunately, because of their non-conventional parts I think they can be quite difficult to fix. A friend had one go wrong and his local bike shop couldn't repair it, so it had to be sent away somewhere, whether to Brompton or elsewhere I'm not sure. (edited)

Mis-price.. this is not an electric bike.

No, it's much more useful in most cases.

Only worth buying one of these if you really need the small fold size. 20" wheel folders ride much better.

I'm new to the folding world, but picked up a couple of 20" bikes and I'm surprised at how well they ride

I saw some scrotes try to take one from the owner in Tottenham Hale station last Sunday. That said I also saw an attempted ebike enabled phone snatching on Oxford Street. I think I'd go for a Dahon to confuse the scumbags. (edited)

Expensive pushbikes are the new nick item. Apparently some people are riding around London on £15k bikes ( non electric) whilst the scrotes on mopes are looking at lists before they try and rob the poor unfortunate. I don't need to worry about my £199 BTwin folder from Decathlon. (edited)

What carat gold is it made from?

Dunno but for 3 grand more you can get a titanium one? So it’s a bargain really

Brilliant design and a great price for a niche bike that's perfect for a town based commute. A real classic.

I think they are great bikes. Slightly ‘squirrely’ to ride but you soon get use to that.

I would include the colours in the title. I think the black looks nicer.

'Squirrely' bit painful on the nuts then ?

From my own research, Brompton is King for folding mechanics. More compact and portable than the others. Others have random pedals or handle bars sticking out, that will get caught on things or people. Yes it's expensive, but you're paying for the best folding bike money can buy. There's a reason they are so popular.
This is a good price for a 6 speed. They also go for a lot second hand on eBay too.
Just be aware because of this thieves target them. But the point of them is you don't leave them outside, you bring with and keep by your feet.

'folding mechanics' bet they suffer from backache though.

    It's not an e-bike.

This isn’t the 2023 model (can tell as they come with black seat post), this is the 2022 model. Still a decent price

Is it easy to put a high bar on these ? And a higher seat ? Or should I just go for h6l ?
    ArthurDent1's avatar
Easy to change the seatpost - Brompton offer a longer version or a telescopic version for extra length without taking up more space when folded.
Not so sure how easy it is to change the bars - it should be straightforward but I'd worry about whether the brake and gear cables are long enough.

These are fantastic bikes, and as others have said fold down smaller than others so are good for trains. However, the only caution I would advise is that as a steel frame bike they are *heavy*, so when folded down they may appear small but you are lugging a real weight, eg down the train corridor. I'm no waif but sometimes find myself thinking I'm going to do my back in one day lugging it at awkward angles!
