Perfect for taking on the toughest trails, this rigid mountain bike is built to last. The 26 inch Challenge Crusade is built around a high tensile steel frame, so it's both strong and responsive. It has 6 gears, which can be easily changed with the flick of your wrist through the Power SFT-332P shifters. The V brakes at the front and rear help you stop safely and quickly, whether you're commuting or cycling off road. And the adjustable, comfort-padded saddle will help keep you in the hot seat for longer.

The Power RD-25 rear derailleur helps you change gears smoothly, so you can choose the power you need in an instant. Think more about your cycle, and less about the effort.

Great for a cycle with your family, exercise or a commute, this bike can help you get out and about in style - no matter what route you take. For more information, please see the instruction manual and assembly guidelines below.

    Typically these type of bikes are fine if you are mechanically minded as they will come poorly setup from the factory. It's a simple 1x drivetrain and no suspension. A good workhorse simple bike but you will need to spend time setting it up. I couldn't help noticing this review;

    With a single front sprocket the chain comes off during the ride, especially on downhill slopes or when you pedal counterclockwise; This causes difficulty and insecurity in driving and in turn distrust in the product. I bought it at the beginning of December as a means of transportation for my work and I have only been able to use it for a week because the wheels deflate on their own in addition to the chain problem. I am happy with the transportation service because it arrived the day after making the purchase.

    Who needs to pedal going downhill unless he is actually doing off-road downhill courses on it. Wheels deflate is a strange description, is that a puncture or the wheel itself collapsing due to poor spoke tension?

    Never buy a bike from Argos unless you or someone you know has mechanical skills. They will always need setting up and absolutely no point paying a cycle shop to do it for you that is a false economy, better to buy a bike from the cycle shop in the first place which will set it up for you and often give you a later service for free.

    Once you have worn out the freewheel on this I'd recommend getting a mega-range freewheel to replace it. You will need a longer chain but if you are replacing the freewheel you will be replacing the chain anyway. A 13T-34T freewheel will be a better option on this for wider gearing and easier hill climbing.

    Spend time learning to true a wheel as these may come poorly trued but once corrected will be super strong with their 36 spokes and only 26" size. They will cope with pot holes quite easily. The quill stem makes it easier to get a really great bike fit, not something you can do easily with a threadless design as you have little height adjustment.

    Perhaps the best selling point of this bike is its low value and much reduced likelihood it will be stolen. Probably a poundland lock is enough. Some of these Argos bikes seem to be quite prone to early rusting which is a good look with regard reduction of risk of theft as long as the main mechanical points are properly maintained.

    These bikes are typically good for hub motor ebike conversions due to having both a steel frame and forks. for low power hub motors you likely will not need torque arms either front or back unlike aluminium frames and forks. Also 26" wheel size is a common and cheap option for hub motor conversion kits.

    You're exceedingly generous about the bike and then go on to prove you need a high level of expertise to live with it. How many Argos customers buying the cheapest bike they can find even understand which side gets which pedal?

    This is a BSO
    The Apollo Challenge from Halfords has an aluminium frame and Shimano gears. It's still not a great bike, and it'd be better without the front suspension, but the components should be serviceable.

    Absolutely horrendous bikes. Manufacturer faults and very poor components. Stay well clear

    Too expensive at any price. Do yourself a favour and avoid as it will be heartache forever.

    They call it a mountain bike? It is just a false advertising.

    This likely to be far better for a slightly lower price:

    Much nicer bike and better value but does have weaker 700c wheels and there has been reports of the forks not being symmetrical I think or maybe they were just bashed in transit.
