That’s why I said from 99p. The free trail can be any the reduce before runs out

Perhaps not, unless you think Which? got it wrong, although of course running costs may not be so much of an issue if you use the ink subscription. Their comments (based on a slightly higher price of £44.99):

This is a reasonable budget printer, but it didn't blow us away when we tested it. There are better models to choose from if quality is a priority – or if you want to save money on running costs.
    Pros
    • Fast text and office printing
    • Supports AirPrint and Wi-Fi Direct
    Cons
    • Expensive to run
    • Slow to print photos
    • Slow copying
    • Wastes ink during maintenance
    • Low on features

To be honest I have had enough of Epson..... I have been a customer for over 20 years and just over a year ago invested in the EcoTank, which is a great idea (and you do make big savings compared to cartridges) ........ but.......... printer has over the past few months become completely temperamental and epson will not support as I have a wifi mesh system in place....... End up with the printer showing offline but it prints and viceversa......

Also Epson software for printing off apple devices is truly dreadful!

I did get a HP on the free instant ink trial and it was great.... worked a treat, connected straight away, phone printing options are easy, etc, but of course when trial is over it is all quite expensive..... may look to get the HP ecotank equivalent as I have just given up with epson.... Real shame as that was my go to brand for inkjet,

I think you might be mixing up a few issues here.
Your network issues are not really for Epson to address.

I am a fan of ecotank-style rather than cartridges, no matter the brand.

This is awesome, I just ran out of the trial inks!

Signed up for 500 pages a month with a virtual card (£1 limit) - not getting me!

You used to be able to get replacement cartridges fed by tube from external tanks, for which Epson was the better suited printer.
I think they were called Constant Ink Supply Systems. They saved a lot of unnecessary expense
