I’ll just put it out there and say that any lounge that lets four people in on the basis of one of them being an O2 contract holder isn’t worth visiting.

Can you imagine how busy it would get once a delay kicks in?

Worked fine for us last August at Bonn/Koln.
Our flight was delayed 2 hours, but very quiet in the lounge as most other flights were running on time.
    Don't knock it, it's a nice freebie.
Yes, of course things will get mad if there's major disruption, but that's to be expected even if you paid for the lounge access.

Good luck finding a lounge which will let you in
    flaviorodrigues's avatar
This. I have loungekey and 50% of times I got declined because its "full"
  3. blahblahblah1234's avatar
Worth mentioning, you can use this for travel dates into 2024, as long as you register the flights before the end of September. I've just registered my flights to Malta in December and January.

I recently got a Priority Pass card for lounge access via AMEX. Tried to use it at Manchester where there are two lounges in terminal 1, at an off peak time. The nice lounge was for business class travellers only and we were 'added to a waiting list' (basically fobbed off) despite it being empty.
The grim other lounge was full without even a waiting list. To be fair, on the app, they say Manchester will be 'subject to limited availability' (i.e. you won't get in).
On the way back from Italy we did get use of almost the empty lounge there, with free food and booze (though one 'British' family entered, set up a camp and literally cleared the food offering within 2 minutes.
This is why we can't have nice things.

There are multiple issues with this:
-most lounges in UK tend to be full and won't let you in
-it has to be an announced delay of 60+ minutes not, 30 mins, 30 mins..
-they need to have it in their system, I had once delayed Wizzair flight and didn't get the pass
-some airlines can't be added like Air Malta
-at some airports distance from lounge to the gate is like 20-30mins walk, so you at the gate, get your pass, walk there, quick beer, walk back..
-the chances of your flight being delayed by 60mins are really slim
-some lounges don't let kids in
-some lounges in UK are terrible, literally water and peanuts

Freebie, worth a shot, but it's nowhere as good as actually getting a pass for any flight you wish.

Mostly useful or common sense tips.

I literally just registered my Air Malta flights today, with flight codes KMxxx
I'm glad of some of those issues/limitations, it means they're less likely to be full when I need to us them.
You're right, not much use for a 60 minute delay. I'd be happier to skip the lounge and get boarded if my flight was only delayed 60 minutes.

One lesson learned with a previous delayed flight.... DON'T go through the Schengen passport gates if you think your flight might be delayed. It's a bit tricky trying to get back out to the lounge, we ended up filling an extra page in out passports with stamps!

Voted hot cause free is free.

Yes there is a likelihood you will find the lounge full or you are turned away if trying to gain free entry. But the £15 food voucher is a great deal as an alternative.

While on the subject there are now 10 Priority pass lounges you can pre-book for £6 per person per visit. See article below.

Thanks for this offer. We were delayed last night on our flight from Cyprus. Aspire lounge at Larnaca airport worked fine.
  8. tek-monkey's avatar
Wizz Air are regularly late so this could be useful, but if it's only after 60 mins you're normally sat on a runway at that point
    blahblahblah1234's avatar
    Exactly this!
Sat on the runway for 60 minutes due to lightning storms, when we landed in Warsaw, we got a useless pass for the Heathrow lounge.
Actually, the pass said it was valid for 14 days, might have been handy on the return journey. Shame it was a 15 day trip.

"*Subject to availability " being the get out claus
  10. trainer88's avatar
Your flight will have to be at least 90 mins delayed to use this. If your flight is 60 mins late and you then go to the lounge - then you will miss your flight.
    tek-monkey's avatar
And if its that late you pray its a bit later to trigger compensation!
  11. EdCov's avatar
Tried this in Birmingham when delayed and despite the fact that there were spaces in the lounge multiple people were turned away on O2 or other cheap deals. They were "keeping spaces" for people who paid the full rate.
It would have been nice when delayed, but £1100 on approx. £700 worth of flights for just over 3 hours delay was nice.
  12. DarrylJohn's avatar
Good for the few that can benefit.

It's a good offer on paper, that only a "few" can probably gain from it. Ideal marketing.
  13. thelatics's avatar
Note how they say allow at least 2 hours (to register before) - so you are travelling today at say 2pm.

Your flight is on time (and you plan to arrive at the airport 3 hours before just to be on the ground as it were), but at around the same time, there are another 20 flights leaving.

One of those flights is already marked as delayed by an hour or more - register that one right now before I even leave home, and I'll get a lounge pass before I even arrive at the airport.

What's to stop that working I wonder?

Of course you have to stick with saying that is your flight to the lounge people (and it might still be 'full'), but they are a pretty miserable bunch anyway, so I don't owe them anything.
    FreeThingsEtc's avatar
We tried this earlier in the week and got caught out. The flight we registered was another 1 and when we handed them the boarding passed they must have had some sort of system that recognised it was registered for a different flight and refused us entry with the pass. Was worth a try anyway

Airport lounge is always fully booked so this offer unlikely to work out
    blahblahblah1234's avatar
Not always, got to be in it to win it.

will this work if you just buy a Pay as you go o2 Sim Card? or is it for Pay Monthly only?
    blahblahblah1234's avatar
Yes, works for me, O2 Priority all in on PAYG.
  16. bargainhunter1's avatar
I don't know why people are moaning... FGS it's freebie.
    Don't like it don't bother...
    Thanks op. Registered (edited)

Cos your flight have to be delayed at least 90 mins.
  17. blahblahblah1234's avatar
A bit random how this works.
I'm sat in the OSL Lounge at Oslo Gardemoen, my flight is only delayed 45mins, yet I received a lounge pass nearly 3 hours before the scheduled departure time.
    Not complaining!
  18. TT3776's avatar
Why would anyone sign up. Absolute data grab from O2 linking their customers with flight data and so adding to their profile of you. Vast majority of flights are not delayed so O2 just using this ‘offer’ as a way to collect and sell your data to flog more products.
    teslafoot's avatar
What are you so afraid of? They already have your email address and phone number which they could "sell"? Wait.... they know you like Coffee too because you used the code!!!!

Nice freebie if you are eligible. Personally I would rather my flight is on time than wanting to use a lounge pass but good to bear in mind just in case I needs it. Cheers op.

Good find, hope we’re not delayed but it’s let me register so worth a shot just in case.

Our Aer Lingus flight from Toronto Pearson to Dublin was delayed yesterday, and we got the voucher sent to our email automatically. Check in to Premium Plaza Lounge was a breeze, and we sure are glad for the tip, OP (edited)

My son and his gf got delayed on their way back from Belfast.
Actually, flight was showing as delayed in the morning, so they got 2 free passes, but by the evening it was back on time. No worries, they still managed to use the lounge AND got home on time.

I've just registered my flights to Vienna for next June. A bit far off, but you never know!

My last two flights were delayed. One by couple of hours in HNL, second by 1.5h in SFO, so lounge access would work. I registered my shorthaul flights next week.

On a slight tangent, does anyone know what the best lounge Access pass is for Choice and Value (eligibility aside). Ie Amex Plat, HSBC’s etc.
    manni79's avatar
Amex plat gives you Priority Pass, very large selection, as well as Amex/Centurion Lounges in the US...but, and a big but, i havent managed to use it once in a PP lounge as they turn away those with card access in favour of passengers paying to go in...so on that basis, im cancelling my Plat - cant really justify it as the benefits are mostly "subject to availability" which means 9/10 i havent received the benefit

Forget all about this and wouldn't you know it.

we recently went away, got a message prior to flight of an almost 2 hour delay
which ended up being just over 3 hours in the the end.

I used this. Was delayed and no code. Complained and was given free passes for next time so tried to use when on next trip but told not many places use lunge key and dragon pass more common. Not impressed really

Sounds great, I signed up and now I am in Edinburgh airport with a delay of 1.5h but no code as they never updated the 3rd Party company "flightstats" and we can't do anything.
We would probably be denied access as the airport is really busy, but I never got that far!

Still hot as it is a good deal! It's free so it's not like Iost any money, but I am disappointed.
    blahblahblah1234's avatar
Sadly, flight delays happen in real time, and it may take a while for the backend systems to catch up.
A really good bonus when it works.
