I'd love real world opinions on this. Trying to get my father to install one as he has an old professional alarm and probably spends this much annually on the service! Would be good to get remote notifications of the alarm going off and the camera feed. Any negatives to think about? Thanks! (edited)

Hi! I use this. I don't have the camera installed though, as use blink cameras already.

Get almost instant phone notifications when I open/close the doors and as/when I enable said away modes.

The alarm it's really loud and I even, accidentally, set of off whilst I was in the office, it was deafening

Connection wise i use ethernet, it hasn't missed a beat.

Unsure if this help you but may also help others.

PS if using the cameras, you may need a subscription.

Have a good evening 🙏 (edited)

Pretty easy to set up and has an auto switch out to a inbuilt mobile connection if the WiFi/internet was to go down so it will still work which is great. Changed the batteries on the PIR sensors once a year approx.. obviously this depends on how many times people go past them so a larger family may need to change them quicker. Good thing is the app lets you know and it's simple to change without any need to reconnect/initialize the unit again. Great simple alarm without the need to run wires.
I haven't used the range extender as the unit in the middle of my 3 bed house connects with the sensors without issue. Also have ring doorbell & floodlight and it's good to have all the security on one app.
Ps. The alarm will contact several programmed contacts if activated (you need to set this up)

I thought with the mobile network back up that you had to have a SIM card either in credit or on a plan? (and that the texts are fairly exorbitant, fine if genuinely triggered, not so great if false alerts happen fairly regularly)

Really good kit and helpful integration with Alexa. Our kitchen Alexa announces 'side gate open' for the imminent arrival of a wet dog from his morning walk.

The main negative is having to swap batteries every 2 years or so . Also there could be signal issues if you have a large property

Every 2 years and so ? I change the batteries at least 3 times a year on my rubbish alarm system. That's one of the reasons I purchased this 2 years ago. Still in the box... but this weekend, I'm determined to set it up .

I’m planning on moving away from Ring, I’m not willing to pay their subscription. but like the sound of this, is there any subs? Is there any similar systems? I would like a smart alarm system

Yale Smart Sync is very similar and subscription free.

The problem I see with these systems is that most peoples phone cables are exposed on the outside of their properties so all the perpetrator needs to do is cut the phone line and the home owner would not then get notifications. Most people ignore house alarms going off so without the notifications I'm not sure if it would be worth having. I think there is an option to add a sim card but you have to subscribe. (edited)

That's why it uses a network connection as a backup along with a battery too. It works well...we were on holiday last year and Voda broadband went down. I knew because I got a notification saying it had switched to the backup network. It's a great bit of kit.
