About this deal

Throwaway prepaid SIM with 1GB of data, with roaming including the USA - great for lower users on phones that don't take eSIMs.

And much better than the £5 per MB (yes, thats £5120 a GB) that Tesco charge on pay as you go...!!

As I understand it, this is a data only sim. "This won't be able to activate in a phone due to it being a Data SIM only. You will need to use this in a Tablet, Dongle or Mobile internet router. However once the Three 1GB Pay As You Go Data SIM Card has been activated you can use it straight away as long as you have signal."
The above was a comment on the Argos Q&A section. No idea if it is accurate or not.

I was hoping to be able to use it to temporarily transfer my phone number to for a few days. But as it is data only, that isn't going to work. As I understand it. I wanted to try out 3 to see how it compares, here, to Vodafone. Then transfer either to a 3 contract or back to Vodafone or try someone else.

I've used Three data only sims in a phone and used it as a hotspot no problem.

The back of the packet says that this isn't designed for a smartphone!

It may not be "designed" for it, but from experience, it works.

We used the three pay as you go SIM while in New York recently and it worked brilliantly. Topped up with £10 and you get 10gb of data to use by buying a data pack. My phone had a second SIM slot so I used that. (edited)

OMG. Charging £5120 for a GB must be recognised as a crime in this era we're living in.

For between £4-£5 on eBay you can buy a three PAYG SIM with £10 credit, that'll convert to a 12GB bundle - probably better for most!

Can anyone tell me - Would this be good to get a cheap way to access Three Plus for cinema tickets?

Yes. Download their reward app and it's easy.
