    I have one of these and find the door always slips off the wedge, as the part that goes under the door is tapered and isn't very long. Only using it on an internal door - I just go back to using a chisel instead....

    Have you tried one of those airbag type lifters instead, which is what I would prefer over this, as that is truly handsfree. With this, you need a foot on it... while trying to put the hinge screws in, that is a disaster waiting to happen.

    Search for "pump wedge" on alliexpress - they are used by locksmiths, allegedly..

    Only a couple of quid - and work a treat for aligning doors singled highhandedly (so avoids all that nastiness of getting the Mrs to help you hold it straight).

    Bought one after a post on here some time ago. Great for lining up internal doors and getting those first few screws in. I used to stack books under the door and faff about until I had the right height. This does the trick in seconds.
