Hmm, let me put it this way... As i already pointed out got this for £212 and its possible for most people to get similar discount at currys if they search a little/ask friends about employes discount scheme. Its coming to about 25 quid difference Between Strix F B550 and X570, plus claiming code for games and letting them go on ebay (i know its risky), can make it same price. No brainer to me (y)
A 3900x will work fine in the vast majority of B450 boards as long as you're not overclocking. There's alot of fear mongering online over this.
I partly agree and disagree. What I read the B550 is a great improvement over the B450 boards adding in extra features and future support including next gen Ryzen, PCIe 4.0, supposed to be better vrms and cooling etc etc. B550 is cheaper than x570, but to be fair x570 has more extra features and can be more premium so each their own depends what you need really. I agree for most ppl building a basic low/medium on a budget the B550 and B450 might be all they need for say upto a Ryzen 5 3600 and can save the cash for cpu/gpu/ram/monitor. I've personally only needed to build on a budget so very happy with my MSI B450 Tomahawk max board as that's enough for me. But with the increase in price on this B450 boards and low stock I'm torn between getting a decent budget B550 board for my next build. If I was not on a budget or wanted a more premium feature possibly more future proof board or going for a high end Ryzen CPU then I may try a decent x570. I probably wouldn't want to risk say building a Ryzen 9 3900x on a B450 or on a budget B550.
this is a site where deals are posted . ppl decide what is best for them , this is not a debating site of hardware , this is a particular item for a particular market , if is not for you it doesnt mean it is not good for others, some prefer this some prefer b450 , and some b550. Like i said , according to you a b450 will be more than enough ,and i would buy without an hesitation b450 if i would need a budget build. AGAIN , you compare enthusiast with mainstream..........
Worth a watch for B550 vs X570
