This seems a great price by itself but I was able to trade in my 3rd Gen Echo Dot (which I bought for £1 on a previous deal a couple years back) and not only get 25% off but a £5 gift card, bringing it down to £36.22!

Gen 2 has a better camera and a faster processor but the rest is essentially the same and the Gen 1 has an audio-out jack unlike the Gen 2.

Planning to stick this in the kitchen for Spotify so even if the onboard speakers aren't great, at least there's the option of plugging something better in.

How do you go about the trade in? I've got a gen 2 dot and it's showing £5 trade in value, where do I get the 25%? Many thanks in advance.

Good if you already have the discount code. I can trade in my echo show 5, which has become very hard of hearing recently, for £15 but need to wait for them to appraise the item before applying the credit or honouring the 25 percent off offer, I also noticed that this 2019 show 8 wasn't listed on the list of eligible echo devices for which the 25 percent off offer was applicable, but I'm encouraged that it worked for you OP.

    Edit
Seems like it's spent the majority of the last 6 months at this price so only a deal if you can get the 25 percent off code and ideally the trade in too.

Can I ask how this works? I've done my trade in value do I send mine in before I can order this deal ?

I did this with the kids tablets a while ago. If I remember correctly, it gave the discount immediately. You get time to send the trade in item back. They could alter the value they offer you for the item but you still get the discount. I got what they appraised it at though. Hope that makes sense

Do you need to send the power cord?

I couldn't find any info on that so I'll send it anyway as it's only really of use for that to me

They have offered £50 for my echo show 5 2nd gen, when I bought it that one was on special offer for £39.99 so I wait to see if they actually do give me £50 for it.

Was it the one that just says Echo Show (2nd Gen)? it doesn't specify the screen size (mine is a show 5, 2nd gen)....

It says you send away your trade in item. Then after they appraise it they will give you the credit and 25 percent off your next eligible echo purchase at checkout automatically .

Not always, I've been offered an instant trade in gift card

Traded in an old and tired Echo 5 and an unused Echo for a £20 instant gift voucher and got the 25% off to get it for £21.24 which is a reasonable swap and will make a nice, cheap upgrade for Mrs Oldskool.  Thanks for the heads up.

I hope its better than the Show 5, worst Alexa device I have ever owned.

Microphone doesn't pick up any voices unless you are are stood next to it

It is not. Terrible microphone on mine.

Also great when used for seeing who's at the door with Ring doorbell.

Yep, plan to stick my Eufy chime upstairs and use this in the kitchen to replace it

The sound on it is not bad at all. Better than echo dot 5. With a stand looks quite smart, like a CRT TV

Mine just arrived and yep, decent sound so long as you don't push it too loud...then it all falls apart. 3/4 volume, bass up, mid & treble down, pretty good.

    Processor too slow for me

Anyone know how to select a Show 5 2nd gen to trade in? Doesn't appear on the list????

Recently bought a refurbished first gen echo for £13 off ebay. Traded that in for £20 and got this for £22. Total spend under £35... pretty decent deal :).

So this is weird, did a trade in few days ago and got an instant credit, just tried it again to get another Show 8 and now have to wait until they receive the item before getting the credit
    Whitey2048's avatar
Seems different folk are getting the offer in different ways. I had to send mine in before getting the credit or 25 percent off. That was a show 5, not sure I'd it makes a difference on what you trading in? Anyway, just got my show 8 for £26 so happy with that.

Common screen fault with these. Mine has wiggly lines in it now and it happens quite a lot.

Mines lasted a week. Daily bootloops or screen stops being responsive. Replacement coming today, will see how it fairs.
