For those who are looking for recent experiences of this - it's quite difficult to figure out how to activate this on your own without going through support. Here's the steps I ended up going through to help you not stress like I did!

    1. Purchase railcard voucher (£19) through the deal link
    2. Download and sign into the Trip app on your phone
    3. Tap the 'Account' icon at the lower-right of the app
    4. Tap 'All Bookings' at the top of the screen
    5. The Railcard voucher is there. Tap where it is and complete the registration process

Once finished, you can go back to this page and tap 'View my Railcard'. This shows your card at the top (big orange box in my case) and you can then tap 'View Railcard' again within this orange box to see the 'traditional' full screen Railcard with the barcode at the bottom. Personally I've taken a screenshot of this and added it to my favourites in my photo app for easier reference in the future.

    Hope this helps people!

Thanks, I bought this a few weeks ago but completely forgot how to get back to the railcard since the app is very busy. Very clear!

Might be worth waiting till Thursday , says limited amount though. 50792732-CiSHf.jpg

I almost bought one. But it couldn't process the payment. Thanks. I'll try again thursday

As far as I know this card can only be used for ticket purchases using trip.com app and it is linked to your account so you can't use this railcard just like you could if you bought it through railcard.co.uk which you can also use when buying physical tickets at the train stations.
    tonyawesome69's avatar
That is incorrect. You can purchase train tickets through other sellers and at train stations as long as you show an active railcard on the Trips app when requested at ticket inspection. (edited)

What is the valid for 180 days bit? Am I overthinking this?
    Wonky100's avatar
I take it that it is annual card that only comes into force when you chose to activate it, but you must activate within 180 days of buying it. So if you like the price but aren’t making a journey until next year, buy the card now, activate before 180 days are up, and then you have 12 months use from the date of activation.

As a single guy in my 30s it annoys me they don't incentivise cheaper travel on the train for this age group. So instead I'll drive my car with just me in it. (edited)
    OB1's avatar
Trains are more expensive than driving for families too. It's absolutely insane how much we're all pushed towards cars and how those who can't afford a car are charged a premium to get around.
  6. wbmkk's avatar
I like to buy my tickets directly from the train companywebsites, or on the RailUKForum ticket site, rather than 3rd partysites.

My current railcard is with Trainline, which I just show viathe app if asked (on maybe 20% of journeys only) I have never bought a ticketusing Trainline though. My card expires soon.

Does this railcard operate in the same way .. or do you haveto book via Trip
    SpeedbirdB777's avatar
I like to book my tickets through a third party website and use whatever rail card I like. That way I can see the split save offers rather than pay full price every time and I can get 10% cashback on all my train tickets too. But that’s just me…
  7. A_H2020's avatar
Can anyone explain to me the benefit of this rather than me just using my contactless when going to london once or so a month?
    paulofalus's avatar
    Depends where you're starting from.
If you travel once a month and spend £50 that's £600 a year.
If you use a railcard, you can get a third off (assuming it's off peak) so you'll save £200.
Although, you've paid £19 for the railcard so you'll actually save £181 over the year.

    WARNING
I bought a train ticket and then bought a TRIP.com railcard.
The railcard will not be activated UNLESS you buy a train ticket through TRIP.com
    PoppinPig's avatar
This isn't correct - I activated mine without purchasing a train ticket
  9. ChildofChaos's avatar
They always have this offer, it's cheaper on Thursdays.

However the website never works or loads properly and you can never get it to take the payment.
    martinwjordan's avatar
yeah agreed - both the website and the app are a technical mess - like trying to buy a train ticket on aliexpress
  10. jonnytnufc's avatar
I’ve already bought 2 return tickets for November with a Two Together railcard booking. However, have not purchased the Railcard yet as was going to do so closer to the time. Will this work for me?
    t3r4's avatar
You only need the Railcard on date of travel to show on request together with the ticket. Doesn't have to be valid at the time of the ticket purchase.
  11. wakeeleffendi's avatar
With this rail card do we still buy train ticket?
    blahblahblah1234's avatar
Bargain of the century if you can pay £19 and not have to buy any tickets.
Sorry, the answer you don't want is "yes".
  12. DangerZone's avatar
Will I get any money off for a £25 return trip I have to do twice / three times a month? I'm 37 so probably don't qualify
    Griffin99's avatar
You might if it's in the south east, which is covered by the Network Railcard (check the specifics).
  13. aturner123's avatar
My railcard expires in october when i turn 32. Sad times

Barely got to bloody use it as everytime i wanted to travel there were strikes or bus replacement services. (edited)
    f4h1dul's avatar
Surely there must be a way to get a railcard without age really being verified when purchasing the card, I'm in the same situation
  14. paulofalus's avatar
Anyone know if you need to upload a photo when you get a railcard with this app?
    mo43's avatar
Yeah it lets you take the photo and uploads it for you it’s very straightforward
  15. frozenpines's avatar
Turns out I could purchase a ticket and then immediately get it refunded!
  16. Zephyrv's avatar
I've just contacted Railcard and confirmed it's not possible to transfer this to the Railcard app, so you have to keep the trip app installed to show your Railcard.

Smart marketing move tbh (just turn off notifications and permissions you don't want). Trip app is larger than Railcard too in case space is an issue for anyone
  17. Vítor_Dourado's avatar
How much is the discount in avg. with the card?
    Jacinto_Fernandes's avatar
There's no right answer, this depends on your travels. If you're based in London and you get 1/3rd off off peak travel. This will pay that off in two months or less with average London travel. Same with rail travel.
  18. Ali_Boro's avatar
Railcards are basically half price when using clubcard points. So effectively £15 worth of clubcard points buys you a railcard
    Fast.Eddie's avatar
You should put that as a deal, the Network Card isn't available but the others are. Nice one.
  19. JulieHarris's avatar
I have paid £19 via PayPal over 24 hours ago but not email code to redeem only PayPal receipt?

Look at the post above by from 21 days ago. Explains it brilliantly.
  20. Artisan66's avatar
i wish i could travel a lot around by train rather than my car but train fares are just not worth it and way to expensive , tickets to london , birmingham £80 -£200 for ticket for one , unaffordable and if you was to take the family out cost you an arm and leg.
    Car fuel £40-£50 return,
    pdampier's avatar
Problem with a car is you then have parking costs on top. I agree with you though. We were going to take the train London to Manchester. £173 each! Got to be kidding. Thats a lot of parking in Manchester.
  21. Artisan66's avatar
I don't know how railways have so expensive, turning out to be a luxury to travel in trains nowadays ,cheeper to fly to Spain and return than getting a train to London .
Needs to be more affordable so everyone can use it , hence generate more revenue helping to lower the ticket price overall
  22. bemaniac's avatar
Thanks but no thanks. I've had to buy a car, learn to drive and insure the car for the first time ever at the age of 39 since being made redundant by the cost of living crisis' effects on my previous employer. I looked into train cards and they don't do anything for working middle age people. £200/m to get to my local business park!
    ZenDeals's avatar
Uhhh...cheers. It was not an offer directly to you though. It's not a cup of tea, you don't need to 'decline' it.
  23. James_Ticehurst's avatar
Does anyone know if you can add the railcard to an apple wallet? Can only see it in the Trip app at the moment.
    choudhary.ak's avatar
Where do you find it ?
  24. whoisandwhoisnt's avatar
Had a nightmare with this. Was debited the £19 and there is a booking reference number in the desktop version of the site. The website states the Railcard must be viewed in the app, but there is no sign of it in the app. Contacted customer support who cannot locate the booking in my account, despite me providing a screenshot of both the booking reference number and the debit from my bank account.

    Best avoided
    t_mafia's avatar
exact same has happened to me.

They're working with their "IT Department" to cancel the voucher and refund me the £19
  25. cazsilver's avatar
It said I had credit on the Trip.com app so got a family & friends railcard for £8.60
Not complaining though. Just got return tickets to Bournemouth next week for 2 adults & 1 child for £66 instead of £100!

    Thanks as always

If I buy the Railcard via Trip.com can I use it when making purchases via trainline and attach it to my Oyster ?
  29. Jazzster's avatar
This looks like a good deal. Vote for hot nationalisation and get some money put into the system instead of given being given away to shareholders and overpaid directors ….
  30. vickiemay's avatar
how far from the airport to hotel please
  31. mamw23's avatar
This keeps asking me to buy a railcard in 30 days to activate it…
also the app is the temu of travel apps. Awful!!
  32. ondert's avatar
How can i link this railcard to my thetrainline app? Trip.com app seems like a regular chinese mobile game throwing you lots of useless stuff on the screen.
    Father.Christmas's avatar
You can’t. Viewable in the trip app only*. * saved screenshot might be accepted.
  33. Ains.from.Aus's avatar
Does anyone know if this can be added to an Oyster card like the official railcards can?
    t3r4's avatar
Yes you can as long as it's one of the ones that can be added to an Oyster Card (ie 16-25, 26-30, Senior, the other Railcards cannot be linked to Oyster).
  34. ran123ran's avatar
Have never been able to buy online as website doesn't work properly.
  35. davidcanoa92's avatar
This doesn’t apply for over 30s does it? Gone on the website but can’t find age mentioned anywhere
    TF_VC's avatar
    I don't believe so.
Railcards for individuals only go up to 30 years of age.

    *Edit*
The Network Railcard doesn't have an age limit. (edited)
  36. EndemicAlarm's avatar
Thanks, that'll... not make up for London discontinuing day travelcards.
    ZenDeals's avatar
...because they are unnecessary. They simply capped the maximum cost of your daily travel to the same cost as a travelcard. The card was useless. Use the same payment method all day and you only pay the maximum cost that a travelcard would have been.
  37. steveogreen's avatar
Can this be used with the scotrail app.
    tonyawesome69's avatar
Once you have redeemed the railcard voucher, you just purchase train tickets with Scotrail and ensure you select the railcard before completing purchase. Just show active digital railcard during ticket inspection (edited)
  38. babblerx's avatar
I wonder how many people my age have been caught out by this.

I only qualify for the Network Railcard but just by chance, noticed in the Ts&CS that the Network Railcard is only valid in the South East ...not much of a 'network' then!. But I bet a few people have stumped up their £19 quid under false assumptions!

trip.com is very misleading...almost to the point of scamming!
    tonyawesome69's avatar
Interested to know why you think it's misleading. Surely you have to check for yourself which railcard is applicable to you before purchasing the voucher.

Good information on all railcards in the link below.
