Seems like a decent price for a TV for bedroom

Features & details
[FHD Resolution] Watch your favorite movies, TV shows, games, and more in crisp FHD resolution, and relish in the vivid color range and from a wide angle. Practically all of today’s content is available in FHD, making it the ideal companion for casually viewing the full array of digital content for an undeniably enjoyable TV experience.
[High Contrast] With High Contrast displays, highlights look brighter, blacks are deeper, and the colors are more vibrant. Improved contrast means dark parts of the screen are truly dark, while light areas are accurately lit. Feel the difference with contrast that’s immediately visible on the edge between light and dark for a satisfying TV experience.
[Natural Colour Enhancer] The Natural Color Enhancer aims to bridge the gap between digital screen and reality, by optimizing the color reproduction in real time, able to pick up on even the smallest differences. Whether you’re watching your favorite shows, documentaries, or movies, you’re sure to enjoy your time with colors the way they were meant to be seen.
[Noise Reduction] The smart Noise Reduction feature is the optimal solution for combating grainy video. The TV is equipped to analyze the input signal and automatically detects, isolates, and reduces noise on screen to leave you with a crisp image. Enjoy your favorite shows and movies regardless of their original quality.
[Depth Enhancer] Hisense TVs boosts immersion with Depth Enhancer software to create a greater sense of reality in whatever you’re watching. By analyzing and adjusting the brightness and contrast of specific regions to create a greater sense of depth, you’ll feel the picture truly come to life before your eyes, as if you could reach in and touch it.
[AI Sports Mode] AI Sports Mode enables the best picture and audio quality for the smoothest viewing experience. See every crack in the field, the players’ determined stare, and the excitement of everyone in the audience, and hear every note of the commentator's voice. Hisense TVs intuitively sense and clean up and enhance fast-moving objects, for a perfectly fluid viewing experience.
[DTS HD decoding] With DTS Virtual:X, you can experience total audio immersion without relying on external speakers or reflecting sound. DTS Virtual:X almost uses digital sound processing to create immersion in any space and simulates true omnidirectional sound including “rear” and “height” channels with only the integrated TV speakers, to transform your movies, music, and gaming experience to deliver life-like sound above, beside, and behind you.
[Game Mode] End your losing streak with Hisense’s Game Mode designed to improve your entertainment experience with gamers in mind. The smart feature reduces input lag to as low as 16ms so your skills can outshine the competition without interruption, stuttering, or other inconveniences, and you clutch the round on your road to victory.
[One Touch Access] In an effort to make life easier, the One Touch Access remote, lets you access your favorites with just the touch of a button, thanks to the dedicated and customizable buttons for services like Netflix, Prime Video, Rakuten TV and more. Even when switched off, the One Touch Access buttons instantly launch your favorite apps with just one click.
[Share to TV] The Share-to-TV function lets you bypass this issue with ease and grace. Share content from your other devices directly to your screen. Use “Screen Sharing” to mirror your device on your TV, or the “Content Sharing” option, which lets you continue to use your device while only sharing specific media on the big screen for everyone to enjoy.

I bought this recently for my elderly uncle, he is delighted with it.
Its a triple tuner, so it has Freeview and Satellite in it , I have them all in one folder in his favourites.
Smart Apps are fine, it has what he needs, Youtube, Netflix, Disney is there too.
He says the sound is good too.

The out of box picture settings are dreadful though, I thought there was something wrong with the set when using it initially as the picture was really poor.
I had to change to Cinema mode I think and change alot of settings to get the picture right but its decent now.

As usual, I'd always go for a TCL over hisense, just better all round with the benefit of either Android (or Roku if you can find one for a good price) instead of the pretty awful VIDAA OS.
Sadly not many options around at the moment (mostly the 43" and above that are on sale).

Have Hisense stopped doing Roku models then? I have a 43" 4k Hisense Roku TV and it's superb and a total contrast to the utter tosh 50" non Roku 4k Hisense I have in my lounge. I was hoping to replace it with a 50" version of the 43" one I have but looks like i've missed the boat on that option.

Does anyone know if you can schedule it to come on and turn off by day/time thanks

My Logitech harmony hub would allow that on any TV, could be controlled via Google assistant which turns off my bedroom TV and lights every night at 2am (force me to not stay up). They might be cheap now 2nd hand as they were discontinued a couple years ago. Bit of a faff to set up though.

I got a slightly larger one six months ago to replace a failed Bravia. Very impressed with the quality and features of the Hisense, for the money it's incredible.

What specific model please? Hisense like other brands come in various grades & qualities depending on the series/model numbers.

    Gaming lag? (edited)

20ms response time with Game Mode apparently, overall experience might depend on your gaming device/s & expectations. Also note it is FHD (not 4K) with basic HDMI 1.4 ports.

I bought the 55inch one of these a whole back ...... The sound quality it's pretty crap..keeps going crackly..bought a sound bar..still does it. .......picture is fine though.

If the setting is present, try manually turning off the internal sound in TV > Audio settings if not done already.

Had this exact tv (old model I guess) for 3 years, bit of a tech snob and honestly no complaints. Great value. I paid 299

Comments say 1yr or 2yrs if registered online so not bad. Feet are very far apart so need wide table, alternate extra stand or wall mount

    The 4K in the model # 40A4KTUK does not mean it's 4K.

I’ve got one of these and the only thing that annoys me is the lack of ambient light sensor. So if you turn it on in a dark room, say goodbye to your retinas

Wow, I didn't see THAT coming

Hisense as the standard warranty is 2 years. Ive not personally heard of that RCA brand.

Only two HDMI ports? Why do they seem to be reducing them? My old TV had 4 and my new one only 3. Having to use splitters or switches is a pain.
    Crossbow's avatar
Yep not ideal, but it is what it is. If you're not happy, pay a little more for a TV with more ports or use an external switch, etc depending on your needs.
Fewer HDMI ports means they can keep prices as low as possible on basic models like this - they have to cut corners somewhere.
