For those that are sitting on the fence about a dehumidifier in general, Ibought a different dehumidifier last year (Electriq 12 litre) and it has been a really solid purchase for drying clothes in the winter. We went from having stuff on the airer for a couple of days with the heating on, to stuff being dry within a day without even needing the heating on. I think it seemed to be around 5p an hour too, so generally pretty cheap.

Saved us from buying a tumble drier anyway, so well worth a punt imo.

If you're in 2 minds about buying a dehumidifier, then don't be. They're a godsend.
Bought a Blyss 16ltr one early last winter as we were getting terrible condensation on the windows over night. Left it on the landing over night with the bedroom doors slightly ajar and from night 1 of use the windows were 99% condensation-free the next morning.
During the day we'd have it downstairs next to an airer loaded with washing. Smalls were dry within hours, tops and bottoms dry within 12-18 hours. AND, to those who it matters too, we believe our clothes smell fresher after being dried with the dehumidifier.
Now we have 2 dehumidifiers, 1 for washing and 1 for the landing over night.
It's honestly one of the best investments we've ever made, I only wish I knew years ago how good they are.

I got that Blyss 16L too, and the Meaco Arete 10L.
Both have been really good purchases for me, and both have their own strengths...

    1. The Blyss was a bit cheaper, but is more powerful (from what I see... it gets humidity levels down lower, and quicker) and with the larger capacity needs less changing.
I find the laundry mode on the Blyss is better too.
I find it's the better workhorse.

    2. The Meaco Arete is good in the bedroom as it is quieter, and I am "just about" able to sleep with it in in "night mode" (but only if I have the humidity level at 65+, otherwise it keeps kicking in and.makes just a bit too much noise...but that level is fine for general use when sleeping for me)....otherd may well find it too noisy to sleep.with on though, I would say that is borderline really.

I also find the Arete gives out a 'cleaner air' n the room, has filters etc.

The laundry mode is ok on it, but the Blyss is better for that in my opinion.

Been happy with both, don't get condensation in my bedroom, and can realtivley quickly dry clothes in my kitchen

This Daewoo looks interesting, and a good price but personally Daewoo can be very hit and miss with their products... I would pay the extra for what were widely very well reviewed machines from Blyss or Meaco that will likely last for years of good use. (edited)

I have had this for over a year now. Good points:
    - It collects a lot of water, seems to work well
    - Purifying mode
    - Two speeds so you can put it on slow to sleep easier

    Bad points:
    - Internal tank fills within about 6 hours, doesn't last a whole night without needing to be emptied (can be plumbed in though)
    - The cable to plug it in is only about 1.5m
    - The filter doesn't do a very good job, you will find your rooms very dusty

A little advise needed here, if I leave this downstairs on the landing, will it pull the mosture out from all rooms in the house? Or for upstairs, does it need to be upstairs?
    bas613357's avatar
This is my question too maybe needs a bigger one for the entire home. Ordered anyway might move it upstairs at night and (edited)

Managed to purchase this for click and collect this Saturday just after the deal was posted. The reviews are very favourable. The general price seems around £129 so an excellent bargain. The Wickes price is a crazy £170. Fortunately I have a solar panel system which means that during the day even on a winters day enough energy will be generated to run this. It has a laundry setting so hopefully the spare bedroom winter drying room won't turn as smelly. Excellent find.
    AndrewMS3's avatar
having solar power this during winter powering this ONLY applies if you do not have battery backup storage and have nothing else running that may potentially using it becuase then it may not be a saving. (edited)

Just be aware that anyone who's ordered this, their order could be cancelled and refunded. This is just going off the same deal posted about 2 weeks ago where someone commented this happened to them but didn't mention why. I would say possibly due to ASDA not having these in stock.
This is a good deal as it's £119.99 on the Daewoo website, but it's still out of stock and has been since I checked this 2 weeks ago when the previous deal I mentioned was posted. (edited)

We were looking to get a Meaco for drying laundry. How does this one perform for those who have it?
    markyo007's avatar
I have a Meaco, it performs brilliantly in laundry mode. When not using it for laundry, I set it to smart mode to keep humidity at around 55%. It has filled its tank (2.5L) every day (24 hours), and it now doesn’t fill as much (only half) so it has definitely brought the humidity down in my house. If anyone needs to know anything about the Meaco, please send me a message. I have the Arete 12L. (edited)
  11. aymrez's avatar
Humidity around 67% at mine, shall we get one? Is it too much?
    markyo007's avatar
Yes, definitely. My house was at 68%. The dehumidifier now collects a full tank of water every 24 hours, and the humidity is down to 55.
  12. djdave2929's avatar
I just bought a 20L Meaco for £235 from JL.

Has warmed my apartment by 3°C and strips out 20L of water a day. Is also a purifier for the summer months.

Is there a downside to having humidity too low in a room?
    chaymation's avatar
Anything below 30 and things will start cracking in the house (wood door frames etc) 50 to 60 is a good target range, there's no benefit to anything lower
  13. friar_chris's avatar
I use a dehumidifier too, but why not get a scoop for the water nature dehumidied for 🆓 on your windows too? I use a Karcher Window Vac, but unpowered scoops are also available as are sponge type things.
  14. watfordguy's avatar
Picked it up Saturday and Returned Sunday. Not impressed.
It gets the humidity down to whatever you have selected, in my case 50... the compressor stops as it mentions in the handbook BUT 30 sec later the fan should also stop.. It doesn't.
It should stay compressor off fan off till the humidity rises 3 above its setting.. Mine didn't do that.. The fan kept running and its red power light flashes... I had two digital humidity meters, one place beside the units own and another about 2 feet from it..
Its own meter is accurate. While set at 50, the ambient humidity did come down to 50 and the compressor stopped. My meters showed 50 at the air intake and 51 two feet away..
HOWEVER the as the power button is flashing and the fan is running the machines meter started to climb 1 every few seconds until it reached 66 and the Front circle turned from green to red, it still climbed to 70 and then the power light went sold and the compressor kicked in... In all this time my own Digital humidity meter had climbed to 51.. Not near the 53 it should have been to start the process going again.
It was set correctly, NOT Laundry mode.
SO conclusion is this unit is faulty OR there is a design fault. If yours doesn't turn off compressor AND the fan 30 seconds later perhaps you have the same issue.
So disappointed as Its a lovely looking and near silent machine

My same issue, going to return

Does this have a hepa filter?
    sirmusclealot's avatar
It has a carbon filter but it isn't that great, a lot of dust gets through.

I was away to buy the Meaco Arete One 12L for my utility room for drying clothes on the Pully in the winter, but thinking maybe this would do and its like half the price. Anyone use it for drying clothes? I've never had a dehumidifier so don't know of worth spending double on the Meaco.
    tommydelboy's avatar
I'm in exactly the same boat, waiting for a deal on either the Meaco or just get this...

Picked up mine today and I have to say, I'm impressed!
It is very quiet, power usage so far is actually below the advertised 180W (averaging at ~165W for me) and the unit is very compact (which is a nice surprise compared to my last Electriq 12L unit). (edited)
  34. beatrixkiddo79's avatar
Weirdly looked today for the first time, so this is perfect timing. But I know nothing about dehumidifiers and I'm getting a lot of condensation in the mornings so do I need one of these and is this any good!? All the ones I looked at today were over £100.
