Ignoring the debacle last night on the Oneplus 12, I still think the R version is worth sharing, especially if you have access to the OP site from student beans / key workers etc. and you got sent the £30 code yesterday, so it is £584.10 or £554.10 with student access, plus those headphones, stand out point must be that massive battery, coupled with the ultra efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

Is 12R the downgraded version of 12 ? (edited)
    Deal_Er's avatar
Yes, it is downgraded and a more affordable version, just like Samsung's FE devices (edited)

I know two completely different phones, but s23 ultra or the 12R? That trinity engine excites me, but s23 ultra would have a better user experience I imagine

The camera array on this 12R is what lets it down. Can't believe they put such a basic array on a £649 phone. Crazy!

Bit disappointed with OnePlus here. The non-Reduced model is available from Wondamobile (and probably others) for cheaper than this, so it'd make sense to buy that instead, but OnePlus have sneakily started installing geolocks on their devices which prevent them from making phonecalls and stuff when used outside their original region. I don't want a 12Reduced, and apparently can't buy the full 12. So I guess it's neither.

I note the B&O headphones they previously promised as coming bundled with the phone for first-day orders has been quietly dropped, too.

Not quietly dropped, but we're very very limited. Prob does make sense to get the 12 from HK to some, others wouldn't buy from HK, so I'd guess they may prefer this

I was holding out for this, but it's not quite sounding as promising as the OP11, which still had it's flaws. I'm considering the s23 while they're going cheap, but I've always had a problem with Samsung phone which just seem to grind to a halt after 1-2 years along with crap battery life... Granted I did have the s9 last, but the Samsung's left a bad impression, especially after I switched to a Huawei P20 Pro. Anyone able to convince me Samsung is worth a punt again?

I bought the poor man's Galaxy a53 almost 2 years ago.
Although it gets poor reviews (due to the SOC) from most, it's actually pretty good.

Battery is crazy and can be hammered all day with little fear of going flat.

So my opinion is samsung are pretty decent.

If you are willing to hold on, the Sammy A55 should be out in the spring.

Definitely worth a look for a low cost no thrills phone with nice panel. (edited)

The OnePlus 12 looks exceptional for the price. I haven't looked at the OnePlus 12R yet. Will do that now...

Here's a comparison between the OnePlus 12 and 12R (phone in this deal) >

The camera system is what lets the 12R down it's a very basic array for the money. 50MP + 8MP + 2MP for £649? No thanks. 16GB isn't needed would rather the money was put in to the camera system.

The OnePlus 12R has been USD $499 and $399 including the boosted $100 trade-in for any phone. A shame it's so pricey here, as I'm sure this would've almost flown off the shelves at a similar price here. zdnet.com/art…24/

Still rocking the 10T. I'd buy this if there was a trade-in deal.

Try selling on other platforms and see if you can get a good price.

Not got a better camera than OnePlus 8 so I'll pass, maybe until OnePlus 14/15
    kawsar17's avatar
This camera is on par with OnePlus 8?

Looks like a very good deal if only I was a student still :/ ♨️

Bad ultrawide and macro. Terrible front-facing camera / vid. Disappointing for the price point.
  13. Liam_Jaffray's avatar
Stop with the curved screens already.

will be interesting to see how the battery life is like on this compared to the latest flagships with sd8 gen 3

Does anyone know if the youth discount works on Oneplus? The previews just say "coming soon". Would be interesting to see if it's the same as Student discount
  16. Tushar_SB's avatar
I thought R versions always have flat screen. It's not the case. (edited)

Anyway to get the code somehow?
    fishmaster's avatar
Yes you need to apply based on your eligibility in the 4 sectors shown in the link below. They are Education, Key Worker, 18-25 Youth and Graduate >

Aren't the OP buds 3 better than the OP buds 2 pro, whilst also being like £79 cheaper ?
  19. Sjsjzwzebxxbn_Uajqzszdbx's avatar
Unfortunately they ruined this great brand by introducing 1000 different variants and inflating the prices massively, forgot the OS is also sheit now

Price and spec seem good for the money. But zero mention of any IP rating would definitely put me off.
    mark_storr's avatar
It's water resistant but you can't submerged it in water from a review I seen. If I remember correctly ip65 I think it was but most smart phones now at that price is usually ip68
  21. mark_storr's avatar
Well if you see any contract deals for 12 in the UK let me know hard to get a good one on the oneplus phones
  22. Patrick_Duggan's avatar
any one have a coupon code, please?

I wouldn't bother Oneplus have a one star score on trustpilot. I have personally been waiting for a refund since last year and get fobbed off by customer support every time. I'm going to start a credit card charge back
    Deal_Er's avatar
    Sorry to hear that.
I had a completely opposite experience. Had Oneplus 5 and Oneplus 10 pro in the past, and they didn't disappoint at all. Great phones.
