About this deal

Price given is for paying in Euros using a fee-free card. From what I've read this is almost on a par with the more expensive XT9. There were early reports of AiMesh instability & random disconnections but these appear to have been resolved by recent firmware updates. There is also an AsusWrt Merlin GNUton build for the XT8 (but nothing for the XT9) which is reputed to be very stable and provides additional features gnuton.github.io/asu…ng/

**NB if you receive the latest HW2 version as I did then Asus-merlin GNUton cannot be used.

Blurb:
  • WLAN mesh system for eliminating any WLAN problems with the latest WiFi 6 WLAN technology (802.11ax), recommended for a WLAN supply area of up to 400 m²
  • Uninterrupted roaming with dedicated client connection to the strongest AiMesh access point
  • AiProtection, the security package directly in the AiMesh system powered by TrendMicro
  • Exclusive 4 stream WiFi 6 backhaul (AX4804 Mbits) between the mesh points for the best performance over long distances
  • Box contents: 2x ZenWiFi AX (XT8) access points, power supplies, 3-year warranty card, quick start guide (English language not guaranteed)

Mine just arrived, it comes with an APD2-EU slide-on 2-pin plug, all you need is a couple of APD2-UK slide-on plugs (2 for £16 on ebay or 2 for £8 on Aliexpress) and you're good to go. The PSU is white and ebay is the only place you can get the white plugs, the Aliexpress ones are black. (edited)

Bought this, mine only came with eu style plugs, weirdly the uk version if I remember had faceplates to change it, but this one came with a sealed eu plug, got convertors for it, but it is bulky when plugged in

My UK bought one has a defect that caused the GB plate to unlock easily and slide off. I've had to tape it, so maybe they have up on that design

PS I received the HW2 version which is sadly not compatible with Asus-Merlin GNUton.

Given it's a barrel jack to power it rather than USB C etc.... Anyone know if it comes with multiple outlet fittings for UK use?

Some of the reviews say is does & some say it doesn't. It says "2 UK" in the description so I'm hopeful it will be for the UK & Ireland market. If not, I believe these will convert it to a UK plug ebay.co.uk/itm…832

Not too bad. The wired node seems to be stable (this was a problem with earlier firmwares) and I get devices very occasionally losing connection and have to reboot about once a week. The signal strength is good and download speeds very fast indeed. Overall I'm happy with them.

The second unit is wired but only cos & already had a cable in place. Wireless was fine too. Remember you'll need adaptors for the psu

    Okay thanks.

Touch wood wont need to plugs, got a handful of these to replace existing socet faces (we have a house in France too so have a mix of UK/EU appliances) and these are life savers to not caring which country the appliance was from52566793-e2ZF1.jpg (edited)
