you can ask for the pre-cut ones at the meat counter (like 10 or more for decent savings, as much as they'll wrap in a single pack), or ask a butcher for the biggest whole joint from the back

I did both today (asked for precut ones to be packed, and went back for a whole joint)

it's flat rate per pack, so just don't buy a small amount of individual steaks wrapped by the butcher into a single pack like I bought 5 wrapped and only saved £3.30 or so (edited)

I knew I wanted a lot of steak at this price for myself and a family member so I bought 2 vacpacks myself, that they got out of the fridge at the back so i could cut them to size myself.

1 weighed 3.2kg the other 2.2 kg so basically 5.5kg and the stickers showed that came to a £100 and I was expecting to get them for £80 with the discount.

Ran them through self checkout and they went through at £21 each and I got a further £7.19 off with my More Card so paid £34.81 for 5.5kg so paid basically £6.32 per kg for mine

I don't know if it will work at every store and it certainly won't work on individual steaks just the full pack ones I imagine. But felt I've got a real bargain, without expecting it

Found another possible price glitch with Beef Short Ribs @ Sainsbury's (Haven't posted because haven't ordered it, so can't confirm it works) sainsburys.co.uk/gol…kg-

They're a displayed price of £15.30 on webpage for a 1.5-1.8kg 2 or 3 bone Beef Short Rib when you add it to basket it drops to £8.50 (delivery or click & collect available) minimum order amount for delivery or C&C

Thought about it, but can't guarantee it will be at every store and if people go to the checkout expecting the discount price and get the full price charged, they aren't going to be happy.

If they read this and want to take the chance knowing it could be £17.40 for a full joint or full price @ £17.99 per kg & -20% More Card offer then they know what to expect at the checkout. (edited)

The best deal I’ve seen on here in a long time and it’s only at 300

I only got one from my local store and was offered a 3.3kg thought just incase it only applied the 20% then I could live with paying the £48 for a good amount of steak. So didn't ask for a larger one.

The butcher and the next customer were already surprised I didn't want just a portion of it.

However it worked so £17 odd was amazing! Was tempted to go back but shopping with my young son he wasn't keen. Still got 20 nice sized sirloins in the freezer.

Just (mainly) worked for me, other than the self checkout would not scan my more card and kept saying there was a problem. Thought it stupid to call someone over and raise awareness, so just checked out at £21 per whole piece (£42 for about 6.4kg)

Picked up the last one, 4.4kg at my local in Nottingham, however it was a flat £21 with no more card discount, note on the till flashed up "some promotional discounts are not available at this time", still a stonking deal 👌🏼

I would also advise to go through self checkout, if you're going to try it, as some Cashiers might call a manager over or something if they see a £40 plus reduction appear on their till
