About an hour before seeing this deal I watched a video on YouTube sponsored by the game so I checked it out and was about to buy it then saw it on here so youve saved me a tenner 😁 Childhood memories remastered here I come! Let's hope they haven't hashed this like blizzard hashed Warcraft reforged

Silly question but does this one have the same epic music and sounds. For me the music in the original was as good as the game. Still my fav aoe
As far as I can tell, it should - it looks like that uses 4GB of RAM and a 10th gen i3 (i3 1005G1) which is dual core and runs Intel UHD Graphics, minimum requirements for the game on Steam lists 4GB and a dual core 6/7th gen. The only issue might be disk space, the game is apparently 20GB (not sure how close that is to the truth though) so that's a pretty sizeable chunk out of the SSD. Here's footage of a person running the game on a 4th gen i3, though this is a desktop chip and they have more RAM so performance will vary, but it definitely runs.
Amazing... Wish I had more hours in the day to play it!
Anyone know if they would work on this laptop? HP - 14-cf3512sa 14" Laptop - Intel® Core™ i3, 128 GB SSD, Black
Rogan? Although the remaster of the 1st game is a work of art (as was the original), I just haven't been able to get into it. Doesn't give me the same satisfaction it used to. Seems to be the way I feel about quite a lot of old games these days. Sad times! Great deal though!
It's a brand new version with new content and graphics. Also, it's under £7 on my post from GMG a few days ago https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/pc-steam-age-of-empires-ii-definitive-edition-ps749-at-green-man-gaming-3598428?pprmrkntfctnsrd=310447346&UATypeId=7
The fact that this game still runs so well and gets massive updates after all this time is amazing!
Great game. went from the AOE 2 HD version to this and its a vast improvement. Ridiculously cheap for this game!
Been playing this game recently. Enjoy playing ranked games with friends. Devs update the game and improve it regularly. Heat for this price

I agree with you. Playing the definitive edition 2 and enjoying every minute of it. Playing on my Surface Pro 4 i5 and surprisingly with 4gb ram its running fine even with the warning that minimum ram has not been met (:I
I've been playing it through Game Pass the past week (1-3 are available currently) for the nostalgia and I've got to say it still holds up rather well. I'm slowly working through the campaigns, just on Normal difficulty and finding they take between 30 mins and 2 hours per stage/scenario(?). Some annoying pathing issues with troops getting stuck sometimes but overall runs smoothly, no crashes, loads quick and doesn't particularly feel like I'm playing a game from 20 years ago. Decent tutorial to get you going and probably enough content for dozens of hours.
Managed to pick this up from Eneba for £5.40
The definitive edition of 2 seems to be the more active game if you're looking for multiplayer: https://www.instant-gaming.com/en/4820-buy-game-steam-age-of-empires-ii-definitive-edition/?currency=GBP

My fav childhood game. Still play it to this day. Is there much difference between this and the original version?
I think out of the 3 they have remade, this is the worse one but it's still good. Much better than the original if nothing else for the modern automations
Still playing the AoE Gold that I got in a charity shop, but I have to keep a Windows XT computer to run it on. Edit- Just looked at the screenshots on the site. Very pretty but too fussy and hard to make out for game playing.
Well I bought this back in February on steam for 28 quid so to me this price is HOT!
Thanks. Makes sense. Too many places with games atm especially with all the free games from Epic (:I
Honestly... no! Its the same game. With steam everything is in place as in the friends list and launcher which I prefer but other than that the game itself is exactly the same! Plus with steam if you change to a new main e-mail for windows log in, its easier having it with steam as less likely to "get lost" if you get me?
Genuine question - any benefits going via Steam rather than having it linked to Microsoft account?
Fair point but bare it mind this is not steam launched.

Anyone who fancies some HUKD AOE2 gaming feel free to add me! I'm around 1300 on AOE2 DE (y) https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198070778329/badges
Hopefully they will do for Series X, it will be another string in it's bow (along with backwards compatibility) and appeal to loyal Xbox gamers like me who still has an Original working Xbox with Xecuter3 modchip. (nerd)
LN or GA surely! Playing AOE2 again (DE now), I remember playing on msn zone and gamepark such good times, absolutely great game. I never got into AOE3 I hated the fixed town centre positions, but might give it another try whilst I wait for AOE4!
Got to say I agree I find it really surprising that MS haven't bothered to convert any of the AOE games to Xbox. There is no good reason it couldn't be done, even the ancient PS2 got a conversion of Age of Empires 2 (the original version not the new one obviously). If the PS2 can run a playable (albeit not amazing) version of AOE 2 there is no reason the Xbox One shouldn't be able to run any of them just fine, they aren't that demanding compared to some other modern strategy titles, like Frostpunk, which ironically enough DID come to the Xbox. Seem really odd they are willing to leave the niche (yes they exist) of console players that want to play strategy titles like AOE unfilled. They are just leaving money on the table IMHO...

No they are not thats the point... some recent steam good reviews and critic reviews which were paid YEARS ago does not make it a good game... it has ZERO playerbase.
They are both good (y) rated by recent players and critics. Move on
Im on my own? theres no one playing it! Everyone plays AOE2... your denial is so dumb.
89% on recent steam reviews by recent players... yeah really bad.. think your on your own there
You new to gaming? Half the bad games out there get this... look ar rome 2 on release it was broken for a year before playable and had great reviews!! This game is bad. If you wanna go off them reviews go ahead.
