The ones that do best in independent testing are generally Britax, Cybex, Joie, Kiddy and Maxi Cosi https://www.adac.de/infotestrat/tests/ kindersicherung/kindersitz-test/default.aspx?ComponentId=29903&SourcePageId=31900 scroll down to the bottom of the page for the high backed boosters (the up to 12 years category). The advantage of these seats is that they will all easily accommodate a child past 135cm tall, they all go up to 150cm. 135cm is the height at which a child legally doesn’t need to use a child seat any more, but in reality they’ll need to stay in some form of booster until they are 150cm tall to ensure that the seatbelt truly does fit them properly and the lap part doesn’t sit too high on their abdomen. In lots of other countries, including the Republic of Ireland, the law is actually 150cm. 135cm is far too low a height for a child to go without a seat. Of the ones listed the Britax Discovery SL https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8621137?storeID=463&cmpid=GS001&_$ja=tsid:59156%7Cacid:444-797-0832%7Ccid:596683589%7Cagid:28645062325%7Ctid:pla-445237029053%7Ccrid:96088984765%7Cnw:g%7Crnd:3724914279739971891%7Cdvc:m%7Cadp:1o2%7Cmt:%7Cloc:1007064&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1772-NuL3gIVyb3tCh2oUAq8EAQYAiABEgI3e_D_BwE and the Joie Trillo LX https://www.halfords.com/kids-zone/car-seats/child-car-seats/joie-trillo-2-3-lx-inkwell-car-seat are probably the most affordable. It’s a good investment to get as good a high backed booster as you can - the average child gets moved into one aged 4, so for a good 6 year’s use anything up to £100 is a reasonable expense I think. Also all the good ones in the ADAC testing I have linked to stay as a high backed booster for the whole time. The Graco one has a removable back, which leaves children with no side impact protection for their head.
Which seats are good?
These are the independent crash test results (view in Google Chrome to automatically translate, or show it to someone who can read German!) https://www.adac.de/infotestrat/tests/kindersicherung/kindersitz-test/detail.aspx?KisiID=171&nc=True&info=GRACO+Junior+Maxi&ergo=False I wouldn’t buy this seat.
Just try not to crash and this will be fine to keep the feds off your back
Awful awful reviews from safety perspective. Save money everywhere else but not car seats
Thanks heat added.
Thanks for this - went for the cybex solution x-fix in the end for 72.25, as we have one of those for my eldest. Brilliant price for an isofix stage 2/3 seat which scores highly on safety tests.
They had it at approx £7 cheaper yesterday, now they have put the price up to £37 - same as the other colouways (annoyed)
OP - how did you get it to £25.16? For Graco junior maxi highback booster car seat - midnight black?
It’s actually a lot easier to get a child into a rear facing seat than it is to get them into a forward facing seat. Think about how the car door opens, to get them in forward facing you have to stand where the door is attached to the car - when they are rear facing you stand further back, in the big side gap where the door has opened. The only exception where it would possibly be more awkward to get the rear facing child in is if your car was a Vauxhall Meriva with the ‘back to front’ rear doors!
Ahhh it's not isofix :/
Interesting. Does it spin to allow easy access to child when facing backwards?
I have this in dark grey . I paid £300 for just the buggy and pram top. Had to buy the car seat separate.. and 6 months ago that was a bargain. So this is a very good deal . Pram is comfy. Buggy is great. Would recommend. Check prices elsewhere to see the difference. Unsure what colour foggy is but looks nice
How does this compare to the quality of buying individual items? I have 0 experience and the time to buy for a newborn to be is getting close.
Tbh I didn’t buy one because it’s not isofix but thought I’d share on here for someone who may need one
Why is it, a lot of things that are on offer are in store. On web site hiked prices?!!!
Normally £40-£50 by the looks https://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/baby/car-seats-and-bases/group-1-2-3-|9-months-11-years-approx-/graco-endure-group-1-2-3-car-seat-black/p/150067
Yes it appears that the picture is misleading. The description says lime green. The one I have is not the same, it's a different make but yellow.
Its not actually yellow when you get it. It’s like a lime green kind of colour. It’s not bad. We bought it as a holiday pushchair. It’s lasted 3 trips abroad and my parents use it at their house when my little one is over there
I bought this nearly 2 years ago. It's still going strong. Newborn to toddler plus car seat, great quality.
i bought this from asda 2 years ago for £65 its very good quality and value for money, i am pleased with it
Got one more expensive other place, this one look good and worthable (annoyed) (y)
Crazy good deal nice find op
:D Great find, very nice price.. looks really nice too!
Cheers for the comments I was worried it wouldn’t be any good.
Is the seat compatible with the Graco Evo XT pushchair?
Heat added, thanks
Great piece of kit, had them years good quality too, fill your boots
Saw them for £18.50 each in asda last week
Have to agree- wipes clean easy.. No food stuck everywhere. All modular so bits can be replaced and collapses easy for outings to friends/family/meal etc.
Bought one in Tesco this morning reduced to clear £8.75
Limited to tea times only?
Agreed these sloped back high chairs are a joke. Imagine trying to eat on a sun lounger and that’s basically what you’re asking your kid to do. We had one of these. Binned it and got the ikea one. Bolt upright and the kids loved it and immediately ate better. Good price but frankly a poorly designed product.
Voted hot for great price, and will be perfectly good for purpose however I've just had baby number three and this time bought a baby bjorn highchair, if price isn't an issue this is so much better as no straps to get messy and so easy to clean. I've also head very good things about the ikea chair for value if price is an issue I had high chairs like this for the first two, they were fine but I was glad to dump them when the time came as they were pretty gross by then...for £20 though it is a good deal
I paid £67.99 when Argos had them on sale.
£88.99 total including the boots point seems a good deal. Thanks
Smyths have it reduced from £129 to £109 .... seems the original price is inflated https://www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/baby/travel-systems/graco-literider-travel-system-black-and-red/p/163672
Graco Mirage Pushchair Travel System £81.99 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Graco-Mirage-Pushchair-Travel-System-Black-From-Argos-Shop-ebay-/332523767615
Wow fab bargain
Which store please x
Nice find, hot from me and welcome..
Thanks for sharing this one @dolphin52 There was no store added to your title so can you let us know which location and store you found this in please? EDIT - My guess of Tesco based on the small price label above was a good one. I think I need to get a life (excited)
Note that some other cheaper Graco car seats (the junior maxi for example) are Which? don't buy due to poor crash test protection. These are independent tests carried out to try and identify seats which though they pass basic tests when they go on sale, are not as safe as some other seats. This particular model has not been tested by which so it's difficult to say how good it is. It may be ok, or it may not be. If you're buying a child car seat you should consider if this is the right deal for you. See other Graco deals in the past for more info. Which reviews can often be found at your local library.
Now marked up at Grimsby
Seems to be £70 everywhere
£70 in Tesco Extra Stretford
Title bit misleading, not tesco direct instore price reduction in reality.
Back in stock.
The Best Buy ones are mostly Britax, Cybex and Kiddy. However the Joie seats are much more affordable and only a few points below the ‘Best Buy’ seats that are twice the price. I know other independent child seat advisors use the Joie high backed boosters, I have a Cybex one and a Britax one but I don’t think you have to spend a fortune if you don’t want to. Essentially all a high backed booster does is lift your child up so that the seatbelt can fit them properly, as long as it has some side impact protection too you don’t have to spend over £100.
What are there recommend seats please?
It’s still on the Which? website as a ‘Don’t Buy’ seat with a score of 20% “Despite being fairly easy to use, and offering average front-crash protection, the side protection of this seat is so poor, with or without the hi-back on, that it automatically becomes a Which? Don’t Buy.”
I am getting this one for my 15 month old and I hope it will last me at last till he will turn 3! Collecting it today so we will see! I can post some pics later :)
hi, how old was your child, when you used this one
Bought this a couple years ago it's a fab little pushchair, fits in my ford Ka boot too. This is a good price for it, we paid 99 and that was without a footmuff or liner.
