I went to the local bike shop and they sold these at £12.99 for front guard and again for back.

Went Poundland and the front guard is pretty solid the back is a bit weak. But as I use a rack I atratched it to the seat post and laid the guard under my rack, put two small holes into it and cable tied it to the rack to keep it off the wheel.

Beats spending £26 for something that's gonna do the same job and be hidden under a rack and lock.

Same as the Raleigh ones from Argos. Still rated hot as good price and I have a 29er bike and it is rare to get good deals for that size.

Definitely, I tried to make my 26" ones fit when I bought a 29'er and was way too short at the back... messy business!

I went down and bought one stuck it on my mtb, next time I'm out at the trails will see how it gets on. Guessing people snap them a lot from getting on and off the bike!
quality is poor on this, easily broken.
Lasted no more than an hour on my bike. The slightest knock to the back one and it breaks
Spend a an extra fiver and get the ones from Aldi. I had two sets of these and both times I snapped the back one off, very weak hinge on them. The Aldi ones are much stronger and will take some hammering.

Bought last years model end of November 2013 for £379 in sale so there is a possibility of this dropping further. Seems to be so many models around these days getting hard to shift by retailers, hence the discounts. Happy with bike but this years being white/red not what I would want.

This is a very well reviewed bike even at full price and having rack mounts is a bonus for anyone looking for a road bike as a commuter. I have it and am very pleased. There was a review in the September issue of Cycling Active which is worth a look. Also worth noting there is a lifetime warranty on the frame.

Thanks. Fixed title and added code.

I have got this bike. it's great. fairly relaxed geometry that suits me, well finished. was worried that the sora components would not be very good, but was very surprised. my mate rides a 2.5k road bike and even he agrees that it's a good bike and not a lot heavier than his. frame is a good starting point if you want to upgrade. I usually ride a mtb with XT and was not sure if the Giant would be any good, but take it from me, it is. see bike radar review. doubt this will get much cheaper. last year's model so when they have gone they're gone. look at the price of the current bike

It doesn't work that way. Sure you can retrofit but you shouldn't be using them as comparaisions as you won't see a mountain bike with 105 components for example.

fiddly as a fiddly thing to fit, wobbly and fragile (don't lift bike and roll on rear wheel you'll rip back off). Despite that they give the most coverage of any guard and fit bikes with limited clearance and no mounts. Heat as I sold a set used for this price (and my winter/commuter still has some fitted).

Brilliant products - my mates use these and they help keep the sh*t from spraying in your face!
I have one of these on mine, doesn't stop the main spray but does stop the bits that shoot straight upwards and into your face! With a normal mudguard on the frame its quite effective.

If you break down the cost of this like this you might appreciate the value of it a bit more.

Frame and Forks and rear cassette - £100
Wheels and Tyres and tubes - £100

All other things including building and delivery.

These include, Headset, Stem, handlebars, Grips, brake levers, shifters, Chain, Derailleurs, seatpost, clamps and QR, Seat, Rear rack, Bottom bracket and crank, all cables, lights, full mudguards, labour to put the bike together and deliver at £120

You will then understand that it is a good price for the spec especially if you search for the individual prices of those things!

Then again - it may be reduced even more in the next few months - who knows?.....

Very poorly made and dangerous the brittle plastic mount snapped after a week of regular riding which made the guard hit the tyre mid ride cannot recommend these even at this price
