Agreed, the earlier total wars had so much more personality. Nowadays it seems like they just re-hash it over and over. Exact same content, sometimes less so that they can then go on to add "expansions" for more money. I'm not cynical.... (lol)
Good price for Rome 2, voted hot. After playing the original Rome and Rome 2, I personally prefer the original even though it starting to look quite dated its less buggy and more fun to play.
The time spent waiting toward the endgame becomes ridiculous on all the recent games. And yes if we all had the MET office's supercomputers at home then maybe we could run a halfway decent game, but it would still be with a reduced graphics display and no shadows and no fire and a unit size of 10 etc... Medieval 2 had the balance correct, and is infinitely more playable than anything since. Plus you actually get to finish the game which is novel. Empire has a known glitch i've never been able to get around, where it freezes halfway through a campaign, usually on a naval battle. And using autocomplete defeats the purpose of playing a RTS. Shogun had horrendous sea battles, and "fixed" this with Fall of the Samurai which introduced 1-sided sea battles if you pick any side with ironclads. But again, i never actually got to complete a game because it took so long to wait for the AI turns to be done. Basically buy the newer versions of total war if you're all about CPU and SSD and want to START dozens of amazing campaigns. Which i will be doing. Heat added. Game bought. Sigh, i hate this site.
Good price. Just cant get into the more recent total wars, spend more time waiting for the turns to process than you do issuing orders/commands. Medieval 2 was the best. I liked empire total war but it was pretty slow at processing turns, seemed to go downhill from there.
