The "effective price" will go up. For us, the entire outlay started at £24.59pm (£35*24-£250 Amazon voucher) to £29.57pm by the end. What started as £35 went to £38.26 by month 4 then £43.76 month 15 onwards, to give others an idea. An extra £109.20 in inflation charges.

Apparently vulnerable customers are shielded from these price rises but it's unclear as to what vulnerable is - apparently disability isn't good enough for Vodafone and that didn't meet their 'vulnerable' criteria. Might mean in debt. If someone can shed light on this, I'm curious. (edited)

Curious too did you find out,?

With vodafone customer service, even if this was half the price, i wouldn't touch it.

Been on chat with them for almost two weeks about why my cancellation date of 14th hasn't gone through. The line is still active, and I want to use another CityFibre ISP.

Tried to take this deal but I keep getting "Something's not right with your personal details". The online form wont tell me what that something is or what's not right about it. Checked everything 6 times now.

I assume if I phone them about it then they're going to place a new order and I won't get my online cashback. Doesn't inspire confidence in an internet service provider when their internet services aren't working.

My Vodafone full fibre 900mbs went live yesterday. The speed is excellent (650mbs) but experiencing a lot of issues with websites not loading images. Did a quick search and seems to be a common issue. (edited)

Ideally use your own router, and change router config to use a different DNS to Vodafone's own.

Maybe it depends on the area but if I open up topcashback and search for Vodafone full fibre 900. I get £76.50 Cashback and it's only £29. Quite a saving over the 24 months.

I'm not really tech savvy, but can I replace the Vodafone intelligent router with a different better router without going through Vodafone for their upgraded router?

Signed up last week for £29 per month - just checked and it is still the same price. I did use Quidco or Topcashback but can’t remember which one.Does go up to £58 at end of contract but will sign with someone else.

Great deal, shame I'm tied in with Vodafone 500mb for another year @ £40 pm!

You can upgrade after 6 months to any better or same product

Does anyone have any experience of obtaining a static IP from Vodafone recently?
In the past it was a bit of an undocumented feature and process, but some people were successful
    samoz83's avatar
Yep, just went on to the support chat and asked for a static IP. Did it in 5 minute's.

What happens if you just sign up as a new customer and set the service date to start on the date your old Vodafone contract expires?

    51256131-4HDLI.jpg
    KodaBear's avatar
Vodafone can't do a takeover of an active Vodafone line.

You would have to cease your line and then re-order service. That means a minimum of 10 working days wait from disconnection to having the new line connected.

These two weeks with no internet would be your deterrent from doing this.

You wouldn't get cashback, but you could always try haggling with retentions to see if they will honor this new customer price for you to sign a new contract on your existing account.

  12. mattsonthebeach's avatar
Has anyone tried putting in a different postcode and then changing to the correct one on the retailer site? My address has recently gone live and Vodafone shows I can get the full fibre when going direct, but the database hasn't been updated on Topcashback yet

try quidco or broadband genie. alternatively, dont use compare but normal quidoc cashback as it £90 or £132 for premiun users

I would never use Vodafone again in a million years.

Twice I have switched to Vodafone, and both times they failed to connect me for a week on my switchover. I ended up having to use a portable WiFi unit till they sorted their mess out.

No other broadband provider I have switched to have screwed things up so badly so consistently.
  14. tigerpool's avatar
I've got my one installed yesterday.
If I am standing right next to the router, I am getting 500mbs

2 metres away from the router, I get 100mbs

    Upstairs I am getting 10mbs

    Not impressed at all :-(

It's only £34 if you take the "intelligent router"........to get a proper Wifi 6e router you need to pay an additional £12/month (albeit with 4G internet back up).
    joex2013's avatar

You don't have to pay them for a better isp router. You can use your own and they'll give you the credentials for free

Left vodafone today, never again. Connection was solid, routing was bad, customer service was beyond awful.

First attempt to leave had a guy blame the government for yearly price rises despite me naming 5 ISPs that don't rise prices 51251870-xd7mX.jpg
Then he ended the chat without processing the cancellation.

Second CS lady said my termination date had to be the 2nd November despite an email on the 13th October saying I had 30 days to cancel my plan, had to argue her to the 9th.

    Avoid this awful company.
    steveblackman's avatar
Its in their t&c that the price may increase in line with consumer price index. Vodafone are right here.
  18. Rahul_Pancholi's avatar
just rang them today and got 910mb fibre and a 5G SIM only 100Gb for 24months and 18months respectively for total of £36/month
    TheBargainMan's avatar
cityfibre area? that seems a good deal with less hassle of cashback. You can get this deal (£34) + add in sim card (£8 - see other post for vodafone 100gb sim card) +£63 cashback for a lower price plus it comes with far less uncertainty
  19. Shark81's avatar
Don't count on any tcb Vodafone messed our connection up we didn't get the £80 tcb or the £120 store voucher we should have got.
Customer service is typical Vodafone, and pretty useless but the actual Internet has been good

Better off with zen as they don't increase price every April and provide a better WiFi 6e router. Giganet Is also a good option as no price increase and 3 months free in the 12 month contracts. Also they provide amazon eero WiFi 6e router (edited)
  22. lee73's avatar
Just to echo what has been said. Get your own AX Wifi6/6E router as the one they supply is 2x2AC and is inadequate for use with wireless devices on a 500mbps+ connection.
    kokoroko's avatar
Any suggestions as of which one? And what's the setup process? Do you need to call Voda to register your device or it clones original router details and acts as one?
  23. dfunked's avatar
My BT 900 connection will be over twice the price of this when the second April renewal kicks in. Can't wait to get away from the robbing buggers (they were the only one to offer 900 when fibre finally became available here but)

24 month contracts should be banned. Although I wouldn't mind as much at this price.
    KodaBear's avatar
While it’s generally frowned upon, it’s very common to see new FTTP deployments to get one exclusive provider for the first year or two of service when it launches. With Openreach it’s often BT. With CityFibre it’s often Vodafone or TalkTalk.

And while BT are undoubtedly more expensive, they do have their benefits compared to Vodafone. Full UK customer service, better router, and a much better backhaul at the exchange (Vodafone often have congestion issues at the exchanges meaning your speeds fall at peak times. They’re trying to upgrade this at every exchange but it’s a very slow process)

I don’t suppose you or anyone in your home is in an unfortunate position and claiming universal credit or some other means tested payment scheme? If so, they can take over the BT account and reduce payments to £15/20 per month for the essentials package (unlimited 40Mb/80Mb downloads, 700/5000 minutes of calls), keep that for at least a month, and then leave without penalty for another company.
  24. Chelsea4Ever's avatar
I am currently with Vodafone broadband and the contract is ending early next month, CS is very good to be fair but I have not been given a good deal on upgrade so I am now leaving for Talktalk for a similar price coz TalkTalk has a better router eero 6 pro x 2 if it helps anyone (edited)
    KodaBear's avatar
I take it you are definitely in an Openreach area too then?

Just a heads up, TalkTalk via Openreach gets 2 Eero devices. TalkTalk via CityFibre only gets one Eero router... For some reason that they still haven't made clear.
  25. simon_white2000's avatar
So just signed up on webchat for the standard full fibre 900 package for £30 a month. Virgin wanted £46 and that was a callback from the save team after cancelling. Always a risk changing provider but £13 a month is significant.
  26. StealMySoda's avatar
For reference I had my switchover today, in case it's of interest to anybody the process of using your own router in a OpenReach area was painless and straightforward. I'm using an ASUS XT8 and all it needed was changing the connection method to PPPoE and requesting my username/password from Vodafone (took all of 5 minutes via online chat, no needless questions, they just gave it to me). There is seemingly no need for setting VLANs on the WAN side when in an OpenReach area. The Vodafone router was connected for all 5 minutes just to confirm the connection had switched (from Sky).

If anybody wants any screenshots (specifically from the XT8 or similar ASUS routers) feel free to ping me here. (edited)

How’s the connection now? Are you achieving the full 900mbps? I’m still toying with signing up amongst all the negative reviews and comments online. I’ve been on 500mbps with bt since feb 2020 and zero issues since. So thinking that openreach, same line, no issues, better speed, different provider should work. I would be using a tplink router that I already use but would be interested in upgrading to a better wifi6 router if getting a 900mbps package (edited)

New customers only as per. My deal runs out in December so probably move on. They have been pretty good over the two years I've been with them. Be aware though they will probably increase the price by about 10% in April!
    leyloleylo's avatar
I contacted them yesterday as my deal ends in Dec too. They offered me this deal for £34 but said I’d have to pay an early upgrade fee of £41 or they said I could have the Pro package now for £46 with no early upgrade fee. I took neither and told them I’d think about it
  28. gameinn's avatar
Good prices but I think it's best to wait for Black Friday. They will probably have these prices plus extras.

If you online game alot then you might have problems with Vodafone as they router people to different servers (people in south England being routed to Edinburgh etc).
    schmoog's avatar
I suspect that extras will be a Giftcloud voucher of some sort, perhaps?

Last year I'm pretty sure it was £35pm + £250 Amazon voucher for 500Mbit.
  29. marshall-stephens's avatar
We’ve had no problems until this year.

Got an email stating they’d be contacting customers on their FTTC plans throughout 2023 and migrating them to FTTP (minimum 100MB with no changes to contract length).

Chased them three months later and mixed answers from ‘there is no such email sent out’ to ‘you don’t qualify as it’s an older FTTC product’, but all were happy to sell me a new FTTP contract.

Phone line eventually fails and the speeds drop, the technical department tell me as they’re sending a BTOR engineer out, I may as well get migrated to FTTP as I was a qualifying customer…FML!

It all then went base-over-apex during the migration and now we’ve found ourselves on a brand new 24m fibre contract, with FTTC speeds, and Vodafone won’t escalate it as a complaint!

I got 910mb with evening & weekend calls for £33 pm on city fibre and £104 TCB.
    AceDeck's avatar
I don't see the £104 TCB option. How did you do find this?
  31. thesimpsons_uk's avatar
Excellent price for open reach areas.

Coming up to 18 months with them on 500mb, with the price rises now on £40. Bare this in mind when taking out this contract it won't stay at £34.
  32. Scouse95's avatar
Good price id be all over this is if i wasnt in a contract with plusnet 500mbs for another 12 months
  33. dragon97's avatar
Makes my 900 for £45 look bad but was already in contract with TalkTalk so could only upgrade and not move over to a different ISP. Heat added (edited)
    elofty's avatar
could have paid to kill the contract? I'm looking at £81 to kill mine as it still has 8 months to run but the price for 150 is the same as this for 900 so seems worth it.
  34. elofty's avatar
Do you get cashback on the non pro 900 via tcb? it doesn't explicitly mention it.

With Virgin at the moment and use my own router, still have the Virgin Hub in play in modem mode. Is this what you do with the Vodafone router or is it disconnected completely?
  37. scubajoe's avatar
So if I go to check availability at my postcode I get the option of 500mb for £28 if I don't wish to retain an existing phone number but if I select the option to retain my number it's £30 per month.
    scubajoe's avatar
And now it doesn't show the £28 deal after I was on the web chat, could they have taken it down???
  38. Mechtup's avatar
Heat added. Vodafone is the only home broadband I haven’t had issues with (apart from CS, but which company doesn’t have issues with CS at this point…) and was actually the only provider that had a speed above 30mb/s ish when first signing with them (with said speeds also being more expensive)
  39. scubajoe's avatar
Called Vodafone this morning and the prices appear to have gone up by £2, not the end of the world but annoying as I tried to get the 500mb service last night at £28 less the £3 existing mobile customer discount but it's been removed now. Anyone else noticed this?
