Just bought one of these upgrading from a 2016 50" Samsung 4k. Outrageously good tv for the money. Out of the box picture wasn't overly impressive but after calibration it's a fantastic all rounder. Definitely worth spending a little time tweaking each video option for various inputs and styles as the difference is night and day. Along with calibrating the usual brightness and contrast etc the biggest difference to the picture quality on this panel is to turn Sharpness down to 3 on all inputs. Make sure for 24hz content motion is set to film mode, for 60fps content use custom and set blur and judder to both 2.

I sit 7 feet from this and it's perfect. Excellent picture and motion for action and gaming providing the sharpness and motion settings are not on the out of the box setting. Worth noting they have the 55 a7 in store but it is an ips panel which has better viewing angles and but worse contrast than this 58 which is a va panel. I thought the 55 looked good so knew the 58 would be superior and even without local dimming and a relatively low nit output for hdr it is a more than satisfactory picture for everything you could throw at it. Ps5 and xbox look awesome, lag is not an issue. Motion for action is great, detail is excellent and colours burst with the qled quantum dot panel. Blacks are decent and using hdr/cinema dark/night modes with backlight around 35 screen uniformity in a dark room along with blacks and dark detail is excellent when calibrated. Whack the backlight up to 100 for daytime or ambient light viewing and the picture pops just nicely. I'm big in to movies and physical media and this is imoressively great for watching blurays and UHDs.

For this price and screen size you can't go wrong and don't need to spend a grand to get a good quality hdr image as is normally suggested. You'll never know the difference unless you are watching side by side with something 3-5 times the price.
A good picture is a good picture and that's what this provides. Bargain! (edited)

    Hi,
Where did you find the calibration settings? Or did you just fiddle about with it until it suited you?
    Thanks

Anyone have a link to new voucher book starting 31st

Good deal but don't be fooled / expect local dimming. The Ultra Dimming in the marketing info is just jargon. The picture of lots of sections of the TV is for upscaling not FALD.

I'm looking for a new tv for my front room to replace a Samsung about 10yrs old, only want to spend this sort of money as I dont watch tv much, just the odd bit of catch up and ps5. Can anyone give there opinion which would better, this tv or the LG one in the link. Thanks

Couldn't comment on the LG but this ticks all the boxes for picture quality when calibrated and the extra few inches are certainly noticeable for that extra bit off immersion. I have a huge collection of physical media so wouldn't have hesitated to send this back if its picture quality was crap. Blurays and UHDs look fantastic and the built in streaming apps look fantastic too. It scales tv well with sky looking good and gaming is spot on. Lacks 120hz but I'd rather my ps5 games look like actual next gen games and have them running at 30 or 60 with all their bells and whistles on. the added bonus of this one is it does vrr up to 60hz which works really well. Out of the box this was a toggable setting but since an automatic firmware update the option is gone and it is on by default so will work as and when required based on your ps5 settings for it.

Thats very good for a Qled tv, i was looking at Amazon's Omni, but this is very tempting, thank you for the find Mr Switch

Anyone know how viewing angles will be with this?

Have had a 50inch hisense for around 6 years and looking to upgrade as the viewing angles are poor from the side rendering a couch useless .

Anyone know if this HiSense TV will be quick and intuitive when using the remote to scroll through menus etc? I find my current HiSense to be really laggy and slow... but it's a few years old to be fair. Does this spec indicate a quick TV in terms of UX?

Only problem with this is having to select a profile and then select the input every time you switch it on.

Anyone got this? Not looking for top of the range comparison. Just looking to upgrade my 13 year old Samsung d6000 showing its signs. An upgrade in pic quality and maintaining sports quality

Ive got the 55 inches version. Very good picture and sound for the price plus costo 5 years warranty so cant go wrong with this tv. There customer service is very good if any problem with tv.
  19. the_sky_is_red's avatar
This one from costco. The 5 years warranty makes this a better deal than the tcl ( 2 years is standard).
  20. JeanDeLaFontaine's avatar
5 year warranty still stands if you are not paying their membership each of the 5 years?
  21. Machoke's avatar
Cannot remember last time I bought a TV. Does costco usually keep these in the it warehouses to buy there and then?
    TamMcG's avatar
This one is online only. They will probably have the 50/55 or 65 on display
  22. Zed65's avatar

My own experience on this TV
    1. VIDAA OS limited and you cannot install apk, I would like to install my own apk.
    2. The colours are overly processed and don’t look natural like Sony QLED TVs. You get what you pay.

Otherwise it’s fast, I bought the 50 inch version and returned.
  24. bizzlebest's avatar
Can anyone comment on the viewing angles for this TV please? Is the picture rubbish if you're not looking straight on? Cheers
    Ron_Owens's avatar
    No,it's fine.
