If you are currently with Lebara, have fewer than 4 SIMs to the same email address, want to use this plan and still want keep your current number (eventually), here are the porting steps as per my previous comment:
  • buy this plan (wait and get a new Lebara SIM, keep safe for later)
  • request for a PAC code from your existing Lebara plan
  • get a free altnerate provider SIM (e.g.: ASDA PAYG SIM, or Three PAYG SIM)
  • submit the PAC to the alternate provider, to move your number from Lebara to another provider
  • once the number has ported to the alternate provider
  • ask for a PAC from this alternate provider
  • provide this PAC to Lebara (via this Lebara form, or web chat, or call Lebara's customer services), to move the number from alternate provider to Lebara (this new plan).

So I signed up 29th November for £2.78 for 3 months, because this is within 30 days I guess I can request a switch? If not, I guess I can cancel my current for this?

Hi. I have the current 6 month £0.99p 6 month offer from Lebara. Only ONE sim. Brand new customer.

If I cancel after 6 months and start a new Lebara offer (if a good one is avail at that time) can I still use the same email address and same payment card and still be classed as a new customer (ie eligible for the new deal) ???

What Lebara classes as a “new” customer is quite confusing and their t&c’s are quite unhelpful.

    Any help appreciated. Thanks (edited)

    OK.

If I cancel after 6 months and start a new Lebara offer (if a good one is avail at that time)
You don't have to cancel after 6 months, just need to stop the auto-renewal. You can do this within the online account.

can I still use the same email address and sane payment card and still be classed as a new customer (ie eligible for the new deal) ???
Can't say "for certain" you can in the future. But going from the several Lebara "new customers only" deals on HUKD for the past 2 years, as long as you buy a new SIM, even if using the same email address and payment card details, the offer was still valid. Upto 4 SIMs per email address.

If you're worried, Hotmail has alias email address function, and Gmail's alias function is eaiser by doing
    OriginalEmailAddress+something@gmail.com
where you can put whatever in the something bit. Imagine the possibilities!

I've seen it mentioned more than once here that if you are planning to port from Lebara to Lebara using an Asda sim to port your phone number in and out of then you need to top up £5 on the Asda sim to do this. This is not true as I've carried out two port in and outs this week to and from Asda without top up.

All you need to do is stick the free sim in your phone, create an Asda mobile online account, go to mobile.asda.com/my-…ile and then hit the 'Porting in' option.

Once it ports over you are able to text PAC to 65075 without any credit required to get the code to port out of Asda.

At no point do you need to add credit or contact customer services at Asda to do any of the porting.

The Asda sim is free if you order online or 50p instore.

All mobile companies share the same masts, it’s just that they use slightly different frequencies and these can be overloaded in any particular area depending on provider.
    KodaBear's avatar
There's plenty of masts that are exclusively used by just one provider.

In my area, the only shared mast is one used by O2 and Vodafone together. But both networks have their cell transmitters at different elevations, transmission powers, frequencies and directions. It means I can get a very good 700MHz 5G Signal out of O2 but only a weak 800MHz 4G Signal out of Vodafone.

Three and EE where I live don't share despite the old MBNL Partnership and each have their own separate locations

You may find mass shared sites like this in some areas, especially in larger towns and cities. But in less populated areas it's no longer a case of 'It all comes from the same place' and some people do have to take extra care to pick the right network that offers good coverage.

I highly recommend NOT porting to ASDA. I've done it 4 times now and every time there has been problems of various degrees. The worst was that I lost access to my number for over 6 weeks.
  6. Ricky650's avatar
I'll be porting out of my current Lebara and back in for this

I think you have to pay if you go into an Asda store for one of their sims. Are there any other sims you can use to port out to and then back without having to top up please. Preferably you can pick up from a shop free?

    Thank you

BEWARE!! As tempting and easy number porting in/out seems, it can go wrong too !! My old Lebara deal expired, so got a free ASDA sim and ported my number out to it. So far no problem! Got another Lebara sim deal via MSE and ported my number back onto that. This is where it went wrong! I lost use of both the ASDA sim and Lebara temporary number since 13th December. My number is with Lebara but due to some unknown issue, I have no service since it ported over. Ringing customer service everyday, and being assured it will be sorted by midnight that day. It has been 4 days now and I am worried I might lose my phone number 😡
    mutley1's avatar
There is always a risk that you may lose your number for a week or more, or permanently, if you port dance. I use a paid PAYG as I feel the free one will give no support if something goes wrong. And unfortunately, Lebara is cheap for a reason, they don't have any credible CS when things go wrong, so it may take a while for you to get your number back and you have to be prepared to lose your number as I have heard people on hukd say that they have lost their number porting.

I also tend to stay with the temporary PAYG provider for a day or two to let the number settle before I port again. People using free PAYG SIM, like Asda mobile to port, tend to rush as they can't use their number while it is with Asda mobile, so they don't want to stay there for a few days before porting. Problems are more likely to occur if you port too early before the number has a chance to settle down with the temporary SIM provider. (edited)

Hi I have a few questions as I am really lost and not very good with this type of stuff with deals, tech etc and worried would mess things up. If anyone would be able to advise me would be much appreciated.

    1. I am currently on smarty. Hate it tbh, poor internet speeds and issues whenever I make calls as the other person usually complains cant hear me. Now my plan is the £8 and think the promotion deal for it ends in a few months but I wont to leave now as had enough with their poor service. My plan recently renewed, now if I decide to leave over the next week or so after getting the PAC number and obviously dont use the tariff for the 30 day period how will they bill me and will this be my final bill with them?

    2. If I order the lebara sim and say I activate it in mid January will that be when the deal starts for the 6 month price of £1.90 a month?

    3. I will be looking to get two lebara sims at this deal price one for me and one for my dad, will that be ok to do so to benefit from this deal?

    4. The price will be going up to £7.90 after the 6th month. To avoid this would I need to cancel in month 5 or month 6 to make sure I am not charged the £7.90?

    5. Lastly is there a guarantee when this 6 month deal at this price ends that Lebara would put out another 6 month or even 3 month deal in that timeframe? I dont mind having to port out and in to benefit from the Lebara deals long term as it seems to be the best ones compared to other networks but I dont want to be without a phone plan when this deal expires as I wouldnt know what would be the best thing to do then.

Apologies for the questions as I said not very good like you guys with this type of stuff. Any advice would really help me. Thanks.
    KodaBear's avatar
    1) you aren’t billed by smarty. It’s pay as you go. As long as your number is gone from their network before your next bundle payment is set to be taken you’ll not pay any more money to them. For extra peace of mind just log in to your smarty account and switch off renewal for next month.

    2) Order Lebara now and you can activate any time for up to 30 days from now. That will be your start date of your 6 month promotion.

    3) Yes you can have up to 4 SIMs per account. Just make sure you’re logged in to the Lebara site still when clicking back through to order the second one and it will do both on one account for you.

    4) As soon as you’ve made your 6th payment just log in to your Lebara account and switch off auto renewal payments for next month.

    5) Of course not. They fully expect you to pay £7.90 after that. There is a pretty good chance of there being another offer but absolutely no guarantee. It’s supposed to be for new customers only anyways. But even if they don’t have offers at the time you should be able to get a deal from another company. There’s a small handful of brands who regularly have promotions going on that compete with these.

You’ll not be without a phone though. Worst case you just pay Lebara the asking price and they’ll happily keep giving you service.

Also before you switch I assume you’ve spoken to friends and neighbours in your area to verify that the Vodafone network is better than Three where you live? If not it may be worth asking around before you sign up to see who others are with in your area to find who would be best for signal since you’re already leaving Three for slow data and call quality issues… If in doubt it’s typically EE’s network that comes out as the UK’s best network though.

    Hello, I have some questions.
How long you can keep the sim until you activate it? if you can keep it 20 days after delivery the offer will start from the day you put the sim in the phone or from the day you paid for the offer?

30 days from your order date, as per Lebara's FAQ.

don't set auto top up, which means that when you run out of allowance, there is no money to pay for extra data.
  14. user21's avatar
Does the allowance start from the day you order or can you choose ?
    itsmewhoami's avatar
Allowance / tariff starts when you first insert the SIM into a phone and connects to the network.
I think with Lebara, it's limited within 30 days of purchase.

Ok so I need some help please. I already have one sim card with Lebara from previous 6 months deal. I cancelled the plan around November as deal expired. I presume the current Sim is still active as PAYG.
So how to get this deal then?
I know you can have up to 4 sim cards in your account so should I just order new sim and don't hassle to port out/in with current sim? I don't really bother about the number as I will use it abroad only. Thanks (edited)
    itsmewhoami's avatar
For 'safety', you can login the your existing Lebara account first before buying the new SIM, to ensure the existing plan is no longer refreshing monthly.

If you're not bothered about keeping the number, then yes, just order this new SIM (you can even use the same email address), wait for that to arrive, insert + use!
  16. mascot99's avatar
My existing plan is due for renewal tomorrow. What if I cancel the auto renewal today, does it convert to PAYG or do I lose service altogether?

Yes, it will change to PAYG. I would also remove payment method for peace of mind. (edited)

Can anyone confirm if you have longer than 30 days from ordering to activate the plan. I have had previous Lebara offers and I left it to 90 days from ordering even when terms and conditions said 30 days. A previous post on page 1 mentioned longer than 90 days. Can anyone shed any light on this issue. Thanks!
    W0nk0's avatar
I left it too long on one of these deals and had to re-order the sim, that was about 3 months ago now. On day 30 they did an automatic refund to the card I had paid with. There might be some confusion as the sim still worked when I put it in a phone, but only to give me 50gb gratis data and then told me I needed to buy a plan (i.e. the plan I had ordered had lapsed). If it helps they did send a few emails to say I had X days left to activate so you could order the spare and monitor the email address - worst case you get the refund.

GOT A CHALLENGE FOR YOU ALL

Ordered 2 sims at 1.90 and 2 sims at 0.99 the next day
Lebara cancelled the first two orders and refunded me 2x 1.90 = great
Next day, 4 SIMS arrived in the same mail ;-)

How do I know which ones are the 0.99 SIMS.
I only need to activate those in 3 weeks time.

Also, I do not want to activate accidentally the refunded 1.90 in case the SIMs would still work.

    Interested in your replies. Cheers.

    A few clues:
Use different name - in cases like this, name would indicate different SIMs without opening the envelope.
    No date on the letters.
No order number on the letter
No SIM numbers on the order (edited)

I was in a pretty similar situation to yours. Once I ordered one for myself at £1.90, I ordered one more at £1.90. But then the thread got updated with the new information that the sims are now 99p each. Lo and behold, I ordered another two sims at 99p each. I called up customer service to cancel my £1.90 ones. Yesterday, I received not 2 but 4 envelopes from Lebara. I was quite surprised. I didn't want to pop the wrong plan sim(s) into the phone and activate them. I tried looking for ways to distinguish between the two sets. I agree with what has mentioned. That's correct. But I didn't realise it straightaway. I tried their chat option but as usual it was down. So, I rang their customer service, explained the situation and gave them the order numbers and asked them which sim is associated with what order number. And the customer service advisor helped me without any hassle & everything was sorted. After the phone conversation ended, I did have a look at the last six digits of the sims and realised the lowest numbers were the first ones ordered and the higher numbers were the ones that came under the 99p offer. However, it's best to call them or chat to them first just to be on the safe side.
I hope this information is useful

Can anyone confirm, from personal experience whether this will still activate after 30 days? I have 2 89p lyca ones I wanted to use before lebara so would like to activate that in 6 months time (edited)
    mutley1's avatar
lebara sends you an email to tell you how many days you have left to activate the sim. it will still activate after the 30 days but there is no guarantee that the MSE deal will load as that has 30 days to load, so you may not get the deal.

Has anyone else had any joy using WiFi / 4g calling with Lebara on a Google pixel? I've always used these features with lebara on other devices. Have just changed to a pixel, no settings for it. I started a Lebara chat and the advisor told me that Google has "cancelled the contact" for 4g and wifi calling with Lebara. Surely that can't be the case?
    KodaBear's avatar
Google Pixel phones require a special carrier configuration file just like iPhones do. Lebara haven't bothered to submit a formal file to be approved by Google, so you don't get WiFi calling and such, as well as potentially a few other features.

If you want this on a pixel, there's some unofficial hacks for it but it will break every time your phone updates at least once a month. Otherwise you need to go to a different network who has support for this feature on Pixel devices. All of the big networks do, and many of the smaller brands that piggyback on other networks do too. It's mostly just Voda piggybackers they don't for some reason.

Got their sim on last 6 months deal and Lebara started to charge full price from 2-nd month. And same each subsequent month. Had to contact them and ask for refund each month. used to be good, but looks like they are going downhill... Also, lost 4G calling and wifi calling; shows as activated(and I got sms saying wifi calling/4G calling was activated, just need to restart phone) in phone settings but never work. Lebara was unable to sort that out for 3 months. For now I would say Lebara is good for second sim in phone/tablet, but not a chance I would transfer my main number to them.
  30. Professor_Chaos's avatar
Great deal but be careful of the ‘catch’ - the deal is £7.90 after 6 months. Not an issue if you like doing the port dance but my current plan is £2.70ish for four months and then £6.90 afterwards. So worth bearing in mind

it seems they’re standardising a price of £7.90 for rhe 15Gb data contract whilst existing customers could potentially stay on for £6.90 after any offers

if you do the port dance, not a huge issue, but I found doing the port dance for four sims took far too much of my time and the hassle isn’t worth it for any long term gains
    Wammer's avatar
I don't use the Lebara sim as my main number. I only use that for incoming calls and use the Lebara one for outgoing calls and data. No need to do the port dance. (edited)

Just for any one doing the porting dance,
I got my number ported to a payg three sim from a Lebara number ( my offer was due to expire).
The porting went through to three today no problems and I have not added any credit to the three sim.

However when I tried to do the porting back to Lebara on this deal I was not getting the PAC code from three via text which on all other networks never had any problems.

Any how to cut a already long story short,
I managed to web chat with a three advisor and he pointed out that apparently the number needs to be with three for 24 hours before I can request the PAC,
so I’ll give it another go tomorrow, hopefully with a better outcome.

I had no idea this was the case, has anyone else had same problem ? (edited)
    Mooney70's avatar
Always wait a day before requesting the pac code from your temporary network. Start the process on a Monday and it should be all done by late Tuesday or Wednesday.
  38. Master_Yoda's avatar
Can someone confirm something - lebara (my current sim) literally just charged me for another month today moments before I requested my PAC code to try and transfer to my new ASDA sim (which arrived today). The lebara charges apply for the period of midnight tonight onwards. I was under the impression that if you port out, mobile providers refund the unused amount you've paid for, but after requesting my PAC code I got a text from Lebara saying everything I paid for will expire if I port out and I will basically lose it... so I will basically lose the entire unused month I just paid for? Is this right or will I get a refund based on whatever I haven't used? Does it mean you should wait for just under a month after they've charged the monthly amount before porting to another provider or does it make no difference as they have to refund you? (edited)
    KodaBear's avatar
You’ll lose it. It’s not a contract so they don’t have to refund you. It’s a pay as you go bundle.

Now you’ve requested a PAC it’s only valid for just under a month though. You need to not only give it to the new provider before it expires, but also ensure your port is complete before it expires. So if you wait until you’ve got your money out of this month you’ve got a new problem. And you can’t request another code until this one expires meaning you’ll have the same problem of paying for another month next time too.

Please advise: when should I insert sim card? I paid for order and it arrived . Will plan start immediately or can I postpone it? Eg. Next £1.90 will be charged only when sim is used

SIM needs to be activated (inserted and turned on) within 30 days of order. The first month of allowances will o let start counting then.

So, say you can insert it on the 20th Jan, the next £1.90 worth of allowances should be starting around 19th Feb.
