Said it a couple of times before, the most disgusting mobile company out there.
Charged me twice on their website due to their own fault, when paying for a plan, they did not want to refund me and said they will offer me the plan twice in a month….unlimited plan…., blocked my number and held it “hostage” to make me pay to get it unblocked and let’s not forget that I was lied by their staff to keep me not porting my number.
Gave up on that number, went for another provided and never looked back. There are other networks that offer same service for same money. I would definitely not recommend them.
All this after 7 years with them. (edited)

I hated Lyca while I was with them. Customer service was awful. Lebara are so much better.

But you can't argue with the price!

When I was with Lebara, all I kept hearing was the opposite, that Lyca were so much better.

Thankfully haven't had any issues with either yet, but think I'm going to move to a more established provider just for calls and texts when my current deal ends, then get a cheap data SIM like this to put in my second SIM slot.

Why would you even need contact customer support? Specially on no contract deals.

Mostly because people don’t read instructions and make mistakes that mess up their accounts. Namely:
    1) Not following account activation instructions on their order confirmation email.
    2) Not setting the correct APN settings for mobile data.
    3) Using these SIMs to port out and back in to Lebara by requesting a PAC on the same day as number porting took place and locking their account as they were too quick to order it.
    4) Trying to change payment method to PayPal on these affiliate offers during the first 6 month offer period and losing their discount because they made an account change that cancelled auto renewal.

Could Lyca’s systems possibly be better to make it clearer and avoid these things being a problem? Yes. But still, if you do stuff correctly and don’t mess with your account everything is fine.

And if you do ever need to contact them, I personally find a DM on their Twitter works best to reach them without hassle.

I got the £0.92 for £15, works perfectly for, in my 3rd month now. My wife signed up for the same deal, worked for a month then the payment method was declined and her only option was to get another deal after chatting to customer service which were pretty terrible. She has since moved to smarty. I think lyca is good until you have to deal with their customer service. (edited)

Terrible, terrible company. I had 3 sims (for the family) on a deal and after a couple of months they 'had a problem' taking payment off my credit card for 1 (tho no problem with taking the payments for the other ones!) and so it stopped working and they said (after hours and hours trying to contact somebody) that my deal was now void.

A little while later the same thing happened to the second sim. They say there's a problem with the payment and then your sim is dead unless you pay their full price.

I didn't wait for it to happen a third time - I've swapped that one out months before the end of the deal because it's such a hassle when it happens with no notice and it's happened too many times to me and other people for it to be bad luck.

Also, we went on holiday and all 3 of our sims worked initially but one by one they stopped after a few days, despite not using much data. So they were unreliable abroad, too.

I'd never use them now. If you get a deal with them then there's a good chance your sim will be cut off with no warning after a short while and they'll not reinstate your deal.

    KodaBear's avatar
    KodaBear
You can use the same email address but it won’t go on the same account. With Lyca, every phone number is it’s own account.

Lyca only offers an eSim for your phone and they don’t offer the extra eSim connection like Vodafone, O2 and EE offer … I had Vodafone before and had my Apple Watch under the same connection but I’m with Luca right now and there’s no such offering!

Wouldn't touch Lyca with a barge pole again. They didn't renew my bundle after month 1, so I ported out to talk mobile after a whole day of getting lyca to give me my PAC. My port still hasn't gone through to talk mobile after nearly two weeks! I've had to get an O2 SIM for £5 a month to tide me over while I wait for the port to go through which it still hasn't. Be very careful with lyca if it's your main number!

Great deal for the 10gb considering it's been confirmed that it's on the EE network now. With these 6 month deals, it will be my norm to go between this and Lebara every 6 months with them both now on good networks, for both my sims. Thanks!

Yes, it looks like EE is now the future for Lycamobile although not necessarily the ‘same’ bands as full EE and no announcement on timetable for moving users as yet:

I wouldn't use Lyca Mobile at any price, they're shockingly bad. They totally screwed me around after I tried to use a tariff advertised on the 'Money Saving Expert' website. Their 'customer service' is essentially non-existent. Their Trustpilot rating shows 18% 1 star rating, which says a lot really.

Fill out the form on their website once you have activated the SIM to give them the PAC and port in your number. This will then generally transfer over on the next working day.

... notwithstanding very poor customer service according to some on HUKD, but six months initial period is good.
EDIT : Strange noticing how Lyca marketing works, 10gb after 6 months is £5.85 pm while 5gb after 6 months is £5.99. Guess it doesn't affect canny HUKD users because they invariably move to greener pastures after six months or even before! (edited)

I took out the unlimited data plan on the £10 3 months offer (Then goes to £30). Absolutely awful. With o2 I get about 30-40mb/s 4g speed but with Lyca I got 6-7mb/s but worse after tethering to our TV in our caravan and using about 9-10gb of data the speed dropped to 0.01mb/s.... It was only for my second sim as EE gets no signal at our seasonal caravan pitch, I've now gone with smarty at £16 a month for unlimited (quidco 12 months offer) and I'm getting faster speeds with no limits.

Worse is when I try to register my lyca sim to cancel it I get a message saying number not recognised, I've been on chat countless times and it just says we don't have a human available right now. Utter Garbage.

I was on the 10GB for £1.49, 30 days...just got sms saying in 10 days, its £2.50 for 10GB (should be £6.50) for the offer period, 5 months left!

    I don't think so...

"Current active plan MSECH10GBLyca Mobile 30 day SIM card for only £1.49 per month for first 6 months, £5.99 thereafter. | Unlimited National Mins & SMS | 10GB Data | 100 International mins to Europe + USA + China"
